  • We all know about Wiglet and Toedscool, two new Pokémon evolution families that share uncanny resemblances to beloved Pokémon from the past. But what if I told you I think there are a few more new Pokémon that have might have evolved to resemble Pokémon of the past in some way? Here are some mini theories on the topic.

    About the maschiff theory, if yungoos are truly native to paldea what if maschiff mimicking yungoos to hide in plain site, it’s the other way in the sense yungoos is an undercover cop/detective trying to blend in with the criminals

    This is the first time I’ve seen someone talk about the fact that they introduced this new mechanic before doing it twice and not having any in game NPC’s referencing it

      Right, it kind of went under the radar. Weird that they hyped it up with Wiglett and seemingly forgot about it.

      @@TamValleyProductions Right! Like, Wiglett, Toedscool, and maybe they’re do more in future gens? Like Diglett is literally still native to Paldea, what’s up w/ that

    Second theory is actually pretty solid. First theory is a bit off in my opinion. The biggest issue with it is the seaweed drying up part. Tumbleweed isn't dried grass or random plants forming into a ball. It's an actual plant that grows like that and then dies and detaches itself from it's stem in order to roll around and spread it's seeds. The eyes on bramblin are designed after those seeds. So while yes, they are both grass ghost type Pokemon, I think that's where any relation, intended or otherwise, ends. Even palosand and greavard mention absorbing life force from prey, almost every ghost Pokemon does it.

    Lovely theories! I'd like to say there's even more stuff like this in this region. Daschbun has some pretty similar colors to Arcanine, and its neck fur kinda looks like Arcanine's mane. Considering the presence of the Growlithe line in Paldea, and their natural fire immunity, they might have influenced each other to some capacity.

    According to it the pokedex quaxlcy emigrated to paldea from distant lands so maybe its releated to ducklett

    Brambleghast and Dhelmise being related is something I saw quickly, but they DO evolve very similairly, that is VERY cool! And Maschiff and Yungoose definitely have the same ecological role it seems to me.

    I love the Maschiff theory...I actually thought it was more like cheetah cubs and honey badgers but i like your far more 🤗

    Incredible observations! I have been playing with this idea and have wondered about Cetitans true origins. Love the yungoose connection

    Strangely enough, before you mentioned dhelmise, when I was shown brambleghast, I actually thought of cacnea first, being a round, thorny, desert-dwelling grass type with a similar smile and rings around its eyes. I actually still think brambleghast reminds me more of it than dhelmise, especially considering dhelmise is aquatic.
    I'm not too sure maschiff was deliberately designed to look like yungoos, but I love this explanation of why it might! That's actually a pretty clever interpretation! I'm also surprised I never noticed the similarities, as they're actually quite striking!

    i think mabosstiff and gumshoos have at least a few physical similarities, both having a sort of round hairstyle with several lines on it going down across their back, and they have sort of similar pointy chin fur. also they have the same color on their back and underside and pointy teeth but that's a bit more generic.

    I was do dissapointed that SV didn't had a lot of convergent mons ( don't including the paradox forms ) and none had new evolutions, like wigglet and toedscool are just recolor with some slight changes and I was so dissapointed with wugtrio that is only a red dugtrio in a rock, I imagined wigglet's evolution being so cool being less like a digglet and maybe being outside of the ground, I think it was a huge miss opportunity

    • @TamValleyProductions
      @TamValleyProductions  Рік тому +9

      I know! That’s what prompted this theory. They hyped up this new category of Pokémon and only gave us two explicit ones. That’s why I’m convinced there are several more, with the ones I discussed in this video bring some.

    • @foxdrago9153
      @foxdrago9153 Рік тому +5

      And the worst part is that both are gen 1 mons ( and digglet already having an alolan form ) and they don't even change the design a lot or play in the concepts, when I saw toedscool and toedscruel I never would guessed they were mushrooms

    Cheetah cubs have white hair running down their back to mimic honey badgers since no animal in Africa will mess with a honey badger. Maybe Yungoos looking like Maschiff is a similar situation, make your offspring look like another scary predator that lives in the same area.

    "Though [the Paradox Pokémon] are totally related [to their present-day inspirations], let's be real."
    Let's be real...unless the Paradox Pokémon themselves are not real! DUN DUN DUUUUUN!
    .....(I wanted to end with "DUN DUN SPAAAAAARCE" as a pun but thought it might muddle the point. Lol)

    Brambleghast I imidiately then I first saw it like that face looks like Delmise. I thought it was very cool. Aslo, I love the cubleweed concept. I think it is very cool. Would loved if it goot a ability like Steel worker but for Flying type bc winds. But I still like its current abilities.
    But Jungoose and Mastiff I never thought about in the same fashion. I can se the similarities now though. Also I thought the Jungoose line was Dark type for so long. But discovered they weren't now that I have played the game. They look dark type. But maybe just me. Fun theory btw.

    There's a rather fortunate coincidence with Pokémon spawns in Scarlet.
    In some caves, like the firescourge shirne, often spawns houndour and houndoom. However, it also has a small chance of spawning Deino. When I happened to find the odd young dragon among dogs I realized how similar Deino and Houndour are... Just in general shape and color.
    I started picturing a female Hydreigon looking for unattended Houndoom nests, depositing her egg into, maybe even swallowing another one to lower suspicion and leaving the egg to be cared for. The parents return and their eggs hatch. At first the impostor its unassuming enough, a little bigger and with a ravenous appetite. But those are signs of good health, right?
    Sooner than later something is blatantly and horribly wrong, half the brood is gone and the heavy baby is not only bigger... It grew another head... At this point the parents notice but don't act against it. Before, they felt the need to feed it because of parenting instincts, now, fear moves them...
    Eventually, a new Hydreigon spreads its wings, leaving the Houndoom and what remains of their brood alone, either for some lingering sense of kinship or for the knowledge they make for good caretakers... However, the brutal biology of this monster makes it an unreliable method of brood parasitism. Not every Hydreigon raised like this will remember their parents as fondly since, half the times, the first consciousness that inhabited that body is no longer the one in control...

    Wow. I never realised how similar Yungoos and Maschiff look! I love the idea that humans think Maschiff is grimacing because it's trying to be intimidating, but it's actually just trying to look like a Yungoos/good guy.
