Kagoshima connection. A bunch of scenes for You Only live Twice were filmed in Kagoshima. Little Nellie helicopter taking off, the ama diving village, the dock fight, Tiger's home exterior, and the lake rocket centre was on the border to Miyazaki.
At 59.09 I think it's so sweet of you to think of Kanai when it comes to eating something nice. The thought of wanting her to enjoy while you have your nice snack shows your love!
I can tell you that a11y in Japan is really behind. Keep this in mind 1. Post war Japan was built for a young able bodied workforce. 2. Japan has a centuries long class system that ignored the needs of the disabled. Thanks to the preparation for the 2020 Olympics, Tokyo was forced to make some changes. However, the majority of the stations still lack elevators or ramps. Also just because a station has an elevator doesn't mean you will be able to get where you ned to go. Some stations are so massive you could spend a lot of time traveling around the station (assuming access is even possible at all.) Tokyo is very vertical both above and below ground and as you can imagine this makes travel accessing anything off street level problematic. Many buildings are not equipped with with elevators. And public restrooms outside of department stores or shopping centers are unlikely to have a11y. Outside of Tokyo the situation is more dire. For example Kyoto will require a lot of effort to reach temples and shrines grounds and you can't reach the highest parts by wheel chair. A city like Osaka is not as vertical as Tokyo but you will find even less elevators. I by no means want to discourage you, but I think it's only fair to give you the truth of the situation.
@@jimlewellen8932 I’m so glad to hear how a11y has changed in Japan. It has been such a struggle for many and as you say “hidden from the general public” was the expectation. I know Japan has the ability to and will get there. It will just take time.
Love it. The screen of my iPad cracked on a recent flight to Japan and the Ginza Apple is where it was replaced. The staff were so courteous. Frequented Mitsukoshi, Starbucks, and the Nissan concept showroom. Every video brings me back to Japan, my second home. Thank you 😎
Just discovered your chanel and love the videos, live streams etc. I'm planning to visit Japan for the first time next year, all being well ,and your videos are very informative and enjoyable to watch
I love these walks because it makes me feel as if I'm there. Though it's visual. It just reminds me of when I'd take evening walks through the streets of Maryland/Washington DC when I lived there. I lived on the divide of DC and Maryland.
4:53 I was shocked to see this man on the bike giving you the middle finger. I know that Japanese people are the most respectful and loving people. Hope this person will realize that what he did was wrong. I love Japan and Japanese people for their great manner and humility, for their beautiful culture of respect, love, perfection, art and spirituality.
@brunswik Sorry but if you look at 4:59 you see Japanese people in the street in front of the guy on the bike and he doesn't give them the finger. You don't fight supposedly bad behaviour with bad behaviour.
This brought back great memories! My husband and I stayed at the Hyatt Centric when we were in Japan last fall. We also found a really cool wine bar in Ginza called GinzaWineBar G5 that was fabulous. Thanks for this!
I've never been to Japan but I've experienced a lot of closures of places I frequented and I totally felt the tears coming towards the end. I could feel your sense of loss.
Very informative and entertaining stream! Thank you so much, John! God bless you and Kanae! Always looking forward to your videos! I hope we could all go back to Japan next year...or soon.
Hello from Belize John, I hope you and yours are all well n good. I may never reach Japan but you John make me feel like I'm there. Thank you John, thank you
I had been to Tokyo in June 2018. We stayed at Narita View Hotel near the Narita Airport and explored the City. Such a sweet memories. Cheers from Mumbai India 😍😍
Hi, thank you for showing around Tokyo. I’m planning to go there in mid Sep. I book a room at Granbell Shinjuku. Is it a good area to stay. There’s plenty of love Hotel around there. Thank you so much for all what you do. Much appreciated.
Hi John. Thanks as always for helping us see Japan when we can’t. It would be great to have the walking route added to the video comments/details section after you’ve completed the walk. While I love exploring on my own there are some walks we would like to do or see the locations on a map. There are several apps that can track your path so that you aren’t doing the work. Thanks for considering this enhancement!
During our first visit to Tokyo, we rode the Shinkansen from Kyoto, I noticed that the cars started getting fancier the closer we got (to Tokyo). Ginza always reminds me of Ito-Ya,
@@onlyinjapanGO - Going to Ito-Ya for the first time can be quite overwhelming. First thing that came to mind: "I want one of everything" Second thing that came to mind: "Sh*t! I can't really afford that. Let's pick wisely." Third thing that came to mind: "I don't have enough time!"

Dined at that oyakodon place (Marukatsu) by accident, I remember the little cup of chicken broth that came with the set was the best chicken broth I had.
Wow, the alley ways are so pretty and well kept in Japan. The plants, the lovely little shops and restaurants... I wish they were like that here in the USA, but alley ways are terrifying here.
@brunswik I can understand where John is coming from when he said that. The pipes and wires are very Spirited Away and Howl's Moving Castle-esque. I can understand the appreciation for the aesthetic, and I'm sure that safety measures were put in place that were up-to-date for the time when built. But you do bring up a valid point!! I'm sure that's why many of the buildings are being torn down and rebuilt. Things can only stay safe for so long.
Thank you for interesting videos. It's sad that pandemic appeared hitting many places and people. Thinking to visit Japan personally so your advices is very useful. Regards.
That was really a bummer that the vending machine corner is gone I was looking forward to go there and grab a beer or two when I went to Japan.. Oh well I guess I'll have to find another place to chalk up in its stead. Still thanks a bunch John for the livestreaming! It means a lot to someone who's stuck at home in Sweden itching to travel to Japan!😄
If not of pandemic, i would be in Japan exploring and enjoying the best food there. Thanks for taking us to the alleys of Ginza, i’m like in Japan now. i will just watch the replay whenever the urge to travel gets into me, for now this video is enough until pandemic is over. Arigatou Guzaimasu
