🍹LOST BAR: maps.app.goo.gl/WU4et3oKBXXDqMLu9 🍹 Well guys, after a very long half a year of planning, we've finally opened the doors to our very own bar. Say hello to LOST BAR. Sharla did an incredible job and she deserves a great deal of credit as you'll discover in the video. But we're really looking forward to seeing you down there - we've spent many nights in the last two weeks down the bar chatting (and dare I say drinking) with so many awesome viewers. Can't wait to see what we can do with this space! See you there!🌟
I started following you since day one..I am happy for you. the diet you've been on, to you gaining a bit more, but you making an effort to work on it.. too..show us restaurants that we don't know about..I love it
I work at LOST! From an employee's perspective, it's an incredibly fair and fun place to work! We all have a blast talking to everyone who comes through -- so even if you're a solo traveler, or in a group, we'd love to have you! I was the first "customer" on the opening night and came back a few days later as an employee. Absolutely wonderful place with even better people behind it. I have loved my time working at LOST and am excited for the future of the bar :) Looking forward to seeing you all~ P.S. Try the cheese!
Oh yea great idea!!! To get to the bar from the other side of the world is somewhat of a pilgrimage as a long time viewer. That would totally be amazing. You guys could also put stampers in the gacha machine at the door. That would be neat
@@AbroadinJapan Ok so, idea... If Lost Bar blossoms and does well, perhaps the signature drinks have their own dedicated stamps? I used to watch your video's religiously for most like 6 to 7 years now and stopped somewhere last year when you started the new journey across japan as I could no longer keep up anymore. Makes me happy to that you've achieved something this huge. Hopefully one I finally make it to Japan and visit your bar
Nah, "Lost" is a perfect name for the current bar, but if it were to have a branch on a different country, naming it "A Bar in Japan" or "A Bar from Japan" could be great for marketing.
Hi Chris and Sharla !! I've been watching your videos since I was a 14 year old kid 10 years ago. Back then, going to Japan seemed like a far-fetched optimistic dream being a girl from a low-economy, financially struggling family. While your videos provided me with an escape, and the chance to keep on dreaming, I am happy to say that I completed highschool, college, my masters', got a fun job, and finally able to go to Japan with my partner in February 2025! It is so fun to say different people complete different goals and grow. I am not a parasocial type of person, but I feel Chris is genuinely a good guy who puts a lot of effort and fun into his videos. Anyway, I write this extended monologue just to say thank you for everything you do, and that I will definitely be paying a visit at your bar in February :) Wishing you and the whole team a ton of success !
I don't know you internet stranger, but I relate so much to this comment as another girl coming from a low-economic background who has been watching them for years too. It's so nice to see your dreams are coming true! I'm working on making my dreams come true as well, haha. Eitherways, I'm proud of you! ❤
From one stranger to another, I'm incredibly proud of you for working hard and making your dreams come true! As I´m a girl from a financially struggling family too, I know how hard it can be to keep going and doing your best at times. So once again, Congrats and I wish you all the best for your future too and a lot of fun in Japan 2025!
I saw someone on instagram recommend this place and they showed a video of opening the gatchapon door. I didn't realise it was your guys' bar! Very very cool!
I had the immense pleasure of visiting this gem last week during my travels in Japan. The drinks were not only expertly crafted but also absolutely delicious. The ambiance of the place added to the overall experience, making it a must-visit. I couldn’t resist grabbing one of their beautifully designed souvenir masu cups and some charming postcards to bring a piece of the experience back home with me. Highly recommend to anyone visiting Japan!
100% need a souvenir section or something where you can sell your book, Sharla's stamp notebook and maybe some local artisan gifts ext??? LOOKS AMAZING!
This man completed life. 12 years ago broke ahh teacher who couldn't speak japanese. Now u have big ahh HQ YT channel, bar in Shibuya-Tokyo wife, friends, ability to speak japanese. Crazy man. Congratulations.
Especially considering he doesnt have an entrepreneurial spirit as he calls it. He grinded, but not with the intention of becoming a business, but because he enjoyed film making.
Sharla: construction and renovation of bar, interior design, postcards, Gacha machine and goods, hiring manager Chris: Cheese and Fukuppy Can’t wait to visit your bar as soon as possible
@@OB1Kinobe Such an understatement. That place is gorgeous. From that first corner where you are introduced to the bar to the VIP room in the back. Just incredible.
I wish your trip to Japan had coincided with the opening of this bar. I would love to see you as an Abroad in Japan regular! I don't know if Chris knows what a devil fruit tastes like which is a shame 🤔
Moments like that opening are truly the ones you gotta live for. Being surrounded by all your friends on a special occasion is just the most amazing feeling. What an incredible achievement. Wish you and Sharla nothing but the best.
"Oh, my." Another viewer who has been with Chris and Sharla and the extended cast of characters for years -- sitting here with an enormous grin on my face, every minute I watched the video. And watched it again and again. Yes, we can see Sharla's hand in so much of everything, and how WONDERFUL it is to see Mark again, and how he is so involved with everything! "The Abroad In Japan Cinematic Universe," you BET! We all joined Chris and Sharla at some point in the past -- and watched their world grow as they made videos that we enjoyed, and brought their friends into our lives -- let me just say how much fun and entertaining it has been to spend time with everyone who has been involved. This video is at the least a very nice tribute to everyone we have come to know over the years, and another well-crafted Abroad in Japan video. Keep up the good work, everyone, and we will keep on watching!
This is actually a unique bar, for many reasons it is amazing; - You are literally in Chris' bar. What an achievement! - People there are most likely regular and tourists, but there's a likely chance people there watch Abroad in Japan, and possibly other connections like Cdawgva, Trash Taste etc. It would make such a great conversation starter. - It's a bar. Literally the best place to get smashed with the best people.
The vibes in there have been really great these last two weeks - there's a sense everyone is on the same level and it's really great to just kick off a conversation with a stranger. Probably my favourite thing about the bar - cheese aside of course!
18:12 anyone else watching the opening night party, and realizing how many people in that room you watch their UA-cam channels, because of being featured on Chris’s channel at one time or another. And now I’m a dedicated viewer of all their channels. I’m so happy for you andSharla, and I can’t wait to visit when I get back to Japan. ❤
My fiancé and I just looked at your bar playlist on Spotify and it's like you read our mind in music taste *chefs kiss*. We started watching your channel a few years ago and now we're finally planning our trip to Japan with Lost being one of our must dos whilst there. We absolutely can't wait! 80s music, cocktails in the heart of Tokyo?! I may just die 😅
It's truly remarkable to see someone go from making videos in a modest space to owning a bar in one of the busiest areas in Japan, perhaps even in the world. Your journey is impressive congratulations!
Sharla is truly magical. She does got a fantastic and classy taste for renovation, esthetic and visual appealing. She's great at this and did such a great job with the layout of the bar.
That travel postcards section is an absolutely genius idea. Really helps to promote other areas. This whole idea for this bar has so much potential for stuff like this. Can't wait to start living in japan again as I am most definitely going here.
This thing, this "cinematic universe" Chris has created with his friends and partners over the years is truly special in youtube. Very original in a platform which incentivizes going with the flow and being like all others. Gotta love Abroad in Japan ❤
I wont lie, working as a bartender in Yokosuka for 3 years, I always love seeing the hidden bars in any major city. it always feels small and homely, no matter how busy it is. I will definitely come there within the next week. I hope I can find the door!
Congrats to you and Sharla on this new venture! I'll be visiting Japan for the first time in November, your channel has helped me immensely in my planning so the least I can do to return the favour is stop by LOST and order a Too Much Volcano!
The last 10 years I kept saying I wanted to start a UA-cam channel but the confidence has always held me back. Every time I watch your videos it inspires me to just go for it. And this is a helluva milestone to be at in 10 years. I remember your first video in your apartment when you were a teacher in Japan fresh out of uni. It’s unbelievable how quickly you blew up
LOVE that there’s finally a bar to celebrate Jack, Kate, Sawyer and Hurly. Can’t wait to visit and scream ‘WE HAVE TO GO BACK’. Also, like that you took some of the island and put it under the glass floor. Wicked.
HOLY COW! You guys both have successful UA-cam channels, met royalty from two different countries and now opening a bar in the biggest city in the world!!! You guys are literally the definition of inspiration!
Also i'd like to congratulate to your own bar in the wolrds biggest city. What a journey, from an englisch teacher in rural japan with no clear vision to the biggest western youtuber in all of japan, a professional film maker, bar owner and inspiring personality. Thank you Chris and all of your team for taking us along the ride, making the exotic country of japan accessable for us westerners and for producing my absolute favorite series on all of youtube with journey across japan. Even almost a year after my first trip to japan i binge all of your videos that i took as inspiration, guide and overall enjoyment while planning our vacation. Keep doing what you do, i'll make sure to join in. Cheers mate
To see your growth over the years - the places you've been, the things you've done, the foods you have tried, and the people you've met, befriended, loved and cherished - the sheer beauty of it all, I'd be a DAMNED liar if I told you I wasn't brought to tears watching this video! Damned well choked me up inside!
one of the most exciting achievements, can’t tell you how much this feels like the feel-good epilogue of a long time coming anime with all the series cast making an appearance! Congratulations 🎉 p.s: so good seeing @sundailove too
Congrats!! This is so amazing. It's always so intimidating going to bars as a solo female foreign traveler, so having Lost at Shibuya where I normally stay is such a huge plus! Can't wait to visit!
Genuinely looks wonderful! To see all the 'crew' in one building at the same time is amazing. Wish I could afford a trip to Japan to experience it! This young guy who just sat in a tiny room talking to a camera...now...lives in Japan as a famous youtuber, has a wonderful partner and friend and now both have their own bar. Congrats guys! ....also the little hidden tables...nice touch!
Sharla is amazing honestly, I'm also from Vancouver Island BC so I've always loved her, I've been watching abroad in Japan for SO LONG too. It's my dream to come to Japan and this is on the bucket list for sure ❤
I am very happy for him. I had been tending bars for over 16 years from exclusive events at castles in Scotland to 6* cruise ships. I always found the best of the bests are the Japanese bartenders so I even traveled to Japan a few times to observe how do they work. A secret dream of mine was always the same, to open a bar in Japan. Or if not my own but at least be a bartender in one. Well, even though I started learning Japanese and visited a few places personally I was never given a chance to fulfill my dreams so I ended my career. I still do bartending gigs from time to time and collect vintage bar books and such but... Well, I guess I am secretly still dreaming about working in a bar in Japan.
@@cestmoi1262 If they were hiring I would definitely apply, yes. Japan is one of those few places in the world where bartending is still considered as a craft rather than some entertainment. I have switched careers a few years ago and now I am a Cybersecurity Engineer but never gave up on Japan, as I said :) One way or another! Thank you though!
@@adam-qu6dh well you could try getting work at Lost, and as a Cybersecurity I can imagine that you always have a backup in that. I mean they do use computers in Japan. even though do teach yourself cybersecurity for 90's systems.
@@sirBrouwer That would be grand but the last time I checked Lost's website there was no mentioning of any open positions. Yes, Cybersecurity is my main career path now but my safety net too if I decided packing my things up and just move to somewhere. Anyhow, I am going to Japan in October so might just stop by personally :)
Loved the bar, was great seeing how much work went into it and the attention to detail is great. Also, had the best Gin Tonic ever there so i can't recommend it enough!
I've got newfound sympathy for the fact that one of my favourite UA-camrs really enjoys and seemingly also prefers interacting with his fans face to face rather than through a screen, that's "bloody amazing" 😊
Man, "like a magic" really brings me back. I started watching your videos probably a bit more than a decade ago, Chris, and you put me on the path of learning the Japanese language and eventually living in the country for a good while. "kore wa pen desu" is a classic too, and I think it would fit perfectly on the menu if you ever expand it - especially if written in romaji for that extra awkwardness. Congratulations to you two on the bar. It looks so cozy and nice. If I ever get to return to Japan, I'll definitely give it a visit!
Seeing everyone together at the opening party made me feel a bit emotional - it's so great to see how much you built in not only your content and career but also, and maybe most importantly, so many friends from all over the place, including the whole community of Abroad in Japan. Can't wait to see what's next.
7 years ago I was just watching a british man in Japan babbling about his family mart chicken obsession as a pass time before going to sleep. So happy seeing where you are now Chris, congratulations to you and Sharla!
Just when I thought this bar could not get any cooler with the gacha secret entrance, ambiance, the push to have a more social setting, drinks, etc. YOU HAVE FREAKING 80'S MUSIC!!! I'm so excited to come have a cocktail here soon! Only thing that worries me is this might become one of those spots that are impossible to get into for normies like me who just want a nice setting and a good drink, due to influencers flooding it and the like.

Went to the bar twice as i was fortunate to be travelling Japan for two weeks at the same time! You and your team have done a great job Chris, everything was so smooth and the drinks were great! (i recommend the London Calling).

This is really cool! And so central in Shibuya as well!! I also didn't know that you and Dogen was buds, that is cool! I have watched a ton of both of your videos.
So happy to see you constantly pushing yourself into new ventures Chris! its inspiring to see you keeping us on our toes! Cant wait to visit the place in person.
Wow! I've watched you for the better part of a decade, and this is such an amazing achievement! Japan has always been my dream vacation, my wife and I were all set for our trip in 2020, and a global pandemic shut those ideas down. When things had settled down around 2022, our trip was once again put on hold, but this time for a wonderful reason, my daughter was born. Now she has a little brother as well and I can't wait to show them the world. I will make it to Japan, and when I do, Lost Bar will be my first stop. Thank you for all these years of wonderful insight and entertainment. Now go enjoy another cocktail, you guys deserve it.
Congrats to you and Sharla on your new business adventure. It gives me another bucket list reason to visit Japan if I ever have the chance to afford it. My first is actually to not only visit the sites, but to visit Natsuki's salon and get a full pampered hair care treatment. Again congratulations, and looking forward to your next amazing adventures.
"I'm fine. Good Condition. Let's drinking time" might be my favorite Natsuki quote yet. The bar is vibes as hell. I hope it's a flourishing spot when i finally can afford to go to Japan
Its so inspiring to have seen your past, the hard work, the journey, and here we are, this new chapter. Youve come so far and i doubt you will stop any time soon. Bravo, man, bravo.
Chris, you are becoming quite the entrepreneur! First a UA-camr, then a documentarist for hire, a studio owner, an author and now a bar owner! With a positive mindset, curiosity, great friends, hard work and a bit of luck anything is possible!
My wife and I had a great time at Lost Bar! We actually spotted ourselves in the background of a couple of photos in this video!! Such a beautifully decorated bar, really nice and friendly atmosphere. Chris, Sharla and team you have all done such a good job! I hope this bar continues for years to come... We will definitely be visiting again! You are always welcome to approach our table, Chris, would be really nice to be able to say hello to a fellow Brit! 😂
This is so cool, after following Chris and a bunch of his friends for years seeing such a massive step is so crazy. It’s also so heartwarming seeing everyone in the same room together at the end of the video. Good job Chris!!!
I saw the livestream of "Mr Nippon" who was the first that rented the streamingroom! Happy to see how you and Natsuki welcomed him and his colleague. All the best with the Bar, next time I am in Tokyo I gonna visit it aswell! :D
Genuinely so proud of you. That ending where you gave a little speech about you being there with all your friends was beautiful end to the video. I’m sure it was worth all the headache you had to endure to open up the bar in the first place.
if i ever get the opportunity to go to japan, i'm definitely putting this on the to do list. i've seen and experienced so much of modern japan culture vicariously through this channel, and it's been a heartstring tugger the entire time. Thank you Chris & Sharla for all you've done to enrich the lives and imaginations of us who have fallen in love with what you guys do. Congrats on the the bar, and all the best for everything else your future brings! Kanpai!
This is awesome! I've been binge-watching all of your work because I'll be visiting Japan for the first time in October -- definitely will be adding Lost to my list of destinations to stop by while I'm in Tokyo!
Following you for years now (from Hungary), I started out broke, then got married super fast, and got kids, and now we just bought our house, so I feel like I also "moved up" in my life. Happy to see you guys with this awesome bar. Once I pay my house (20 years) , I can start saving up some money to visit you in Japan :D....
Abroad in Japan has evolved! Visiting tourist destinations is so old-school; now, it's time to make them! Seriously though, congratulations, adding this to my list of must go-to's for Japan!

Anyway, I write this extended monologue just to say thank you for everything you do, and that I will definitely be paying a visit at your bar in February :)
Wishing you and the whole team a ton of success !
Thanks for swinging by!! 🍻🙏
Can't wait for the sequel bar: FOUND
Osaka. Do it.
Nah, that's the gift shop.
It should be in a secret location that you can only get to by getting blackout wasted in LOST and then brought there by Natsuki
& prequel will be GET. 😅
😂
It's all come together. Biggest of cheers to both of you and the whole crew!!!
Thanks Loretta! Was really great catching up on opening night 🍻
Out of everything you've done, this is probably your best "You made it! Moment."
I'll definitely come by there one of these days
100% need a souvenir section or something where you can sell your book, Sharla's stamp notebook and maybe some local artisan gifts ext??? LOOKS AMAZING!
that is the gacha at the front. duh.
Natsuki merch!
And a Lost Bar Stamp! We need a stamp!
Could sell the postcards online
Yeah that was my first thought. A merch shop with T-shirts and knickknacks.
This man completed life.
12 years ago broke ahh teacher who couldn't speak japanese. Now u have big ahh HQ YT channel, bar in Shibuya-Tokyo wife, friends, ability to speak japanese. Crazy man. Congratulations.
and sharla is damn fine man. fuck i need to get my ass up
ahh
I really admire Chris, true man of success
Damn, that puts things into perspective, it feels like ages ago.
Our boy has made it in Japan I guess you could say
Especially considering he doesnt have an entrepreneurial spirit as he calls it. He grinded, but not with the intention of becoming a business, but because he enjoyed film making.
20:21 WELL SAID, MARK!
Great lesson for the younger generation!
As a Sharla watcher, I'M SO FCKING THRILLED to see Mark again!!!
I'm so happy to see this new endeavour of yours. Here's for a long time going!
I audibly gasped when i saw mark lol its been so long since hes been featured!
Sharla: construction and renovation of bar, interior design, postcards, Gacha machine and goods, hiring manager
Chris: Cheese and Fukuppy
Can’t wait to visit your bar as soon as possible
perfectly balanced, as all things should be.
Don't forget chris chose the colour of the furniture! Very important!
And green
This is a very elaborate scheme to get better cheese for Chris's belly.
Sharla has great tatse! 👍👍
@@OB1Kinobe Such an understatement. That place is gorgeous. From that first corner where you are introduced to the bar to the VIP room in the back. Just incredible.
LET'S GOOOOO.
Like, right now right now.
I wish your trip to Japan had coincided with the opening of this bar. I would love to see you as an Abroad in Japan regular! I don't know if Chris knows what a devil fruit tastes like which is a shame 🤔
NGL Iif Chris tried your food you'd be an abroad in japan regular lol
It’s literally amazing. Congrats on such an amazing accomplishment
Thanks Sundai, was awesome hanging out at the party! 🥂
I love the fact that you all know each other!
Trash Taste cinematic universe.
This is actually a unique bar, for many reasons it is amazing;
- You are literally in Chris' bar.
I love that you and Sharla did this! Talk about using your platform to bring people together!
Can Lost bar have its own stamp? Would love to collect stamps from Lost, a little Sharla touch 😂❤
I would also love this!!
Shout out to the other Abroad in Japan podcast listeners who knew about this a week ago!
Me
I was waiting every day for this upload and then caught it 15 ish minutes after it released
Hey there
same here! was waiting for this video to come out!
yeah i dont really feel like thats an achievement or anything but hey toodeloo to you too
Very cool. My son and daughter-in-law visited your place on 24th August.
That's awesome, hope they had a good time!
@@AbroadinJapan She never saw them again, she's saying that they never left your bar.
@@Woozlewuzzleableso in a few years Chris will complete life by being featured on crime YT channels?
@@LudwigVaanArthans It's probably like one of those old bars from the 1800's where men would pass out and wake up in a fishing boat A.K.A. Shanghaied.
@@AbroadinJapan They did!
Our trip to Japan is in less than four weeks, this is getting added to the itinerary. Gonna make my birthday celebration in Tokyo even better. 💜
Just got back from a trip to Japan a few weeks ago now I’m already planning the next trip back to see this bar
🍻🍻🍻
I'll be there in November, so those drinks should warm me up if there's a chill at night.
I went opening day and had a great Yebisu to round off my Japan trip! Good luck with everything you guys deserve it
Thanks for swinging by on day one!
Didn't imagine the day that Sharla and a VTuber would open a bar in Shibuya.
Congratulations, Ironmouse!
If I ever make it to Japan, I am definitely having the "Too much volcano".
lol I had it as the first drink when I went there too
"Sir, how did you end up in the hospital"
".... Too much Volcano"
Too Much Volcano WILL Be Like a Magic!
Your A S O will thank you!
@@Thezftw How was it?
My fiancé and I just looked at your bar playlist on Spotify and it's like you read our mind in music taste *chefs kiss*. We started watching your channel a few years ago and now we're finally planning our trip to Japan with Lost being one of our must dos whilst there. We absolutely can't wait! 80s music, cocktails in the heart of Tokyo?! I may just die 😅
where can we find the playlist?? i am also interested too!
Sharla laughing during Chris’s speech is the sweetest thing 🥰
That travel postcards section is an absolutely genius idea. Really helps to promote other areas. This whole idea for this bar has so much potential for stuff like this. Can't wait to start living in japan again as I am most definitely going here.
I love how Sharla looks at Chris during his speech! So much love!❤️❤️❤️
Thanks for the kind words! Looking forward to seeing you there with a Too Much Volcano in hand haha
Chris has leveled up from youtuber to business mogul
Wicked.
I thought the same thing, LOST sign walking into the bar.
Love it. The Hatch vibes for sure.
HOLY COW! You guys both have successful UA-cam channels, met royalty from two different countries and now opening a bar in the biggest city in the world!!! You guys are literally the definition of inspiration!
Yep, absolutely 💯
This is amazing, I nearly cried seeing Mark again, I missed him so much!!!
Congrats Chris and Sharla!! Both are amazing people and deserve all the LOVE!!
Yay Mark the Manager! So glad to see him back. Grats to you and Sharla on the opening.
Congratulations 🎉
p.s: so good seeing @sundailove too
Congrats!! This is so amazing. It's always so intimidating going to bars as a solo female foreign traveler, so having Lost at Shibuya where I normally stay is such a huge plus! Can't wait to visit!
It’s a nice social atmosphere in there! Been really great seeing solo travelers chat to one another and discuss travel plans these last few weeks!
I love that Sharla inspired and fueled this effort. It's nice have a partner that helps you get things done.
The bar was so cool to visit! Very glad we had the chance to go there the first week it was open🎉 Definitely going back next time we are in 🇯🇵
I am very happy for him.
Are you applying for a job here? Wish you luck!
@@adam-qu6dh good luck and if noting works you could just tell them: Go Fuck yourself. ;)
I love Ryotaro!!
I loved how he was always such a good host and guide with special knowledge!
Oh, and "mistake a bagel" would be another great contender. That video had me in tears!
Thanks so much for swinging by! I take great pride knowing I branded that drink haha
@@AbroadinJapan I had the feeling it may of been your idea! Went down well with the snacks.
This must have been EPIC to attend the first openings of the bar.....LOVE that Marc is back with Sharla! Love that he helped her out to get Maro back to Japan! AND Pete? Fuggetaboutit....we ALL need a Pete in our life! Cheers to your bar and LOVE the friends we have all met through you and Sharla!
This video is incredible! 🍻 Opening a bar in Tokyo is such a bold and exciting adventure. The place looks amazing, and the vibe is just perfect! 🎉🇯🇵 I can’t wait to visit and experience it myself. Great job making your dream come true! 🌟✨
This is really cool! And so central in Shibuya as well!!
I also didn't know that you and Dogen was buds, that is cool! I have watched a ton of both of your videos.
Been friends for years! Great guy and so grateful he came up to visit
0:47 Natuski sounds so different when he speaks japanese💀
17:47 Literally the Abroad Cinematic Universe
and was that Dogen at 18:30 too lol
"I'm fine. Good Condition. Let's drinking time" might be my favorite Natsuki quote yet.
The bar is vibes as hell. I hope it's a flourishing spot when i finally can afford to go to Japan
perfect merch tshirt
Kanpai!
From one long time viewer: you deserve every second of this. I'm so proud of all of you. That's it. That's the comment. Congratulations!
This is awesome!
I've been binge-watching all of your work because I'll be visiting Japan for the first time in October -- definitely will be adding Lost to my list of destinations to stop by while I'm in Tokyo!
Nice, Sharla being a good influence and bringing some business sense into your life.
Good to see Mark is back in Japan.
