Absolutely fantastic. This is about as good as coaster content on UA-cam gets. Incredibly well-researched as well. Exceptional work, my friend. Can't wait for part 6!
Thank you so much! Keeping the videos high quality unfortunately means that they take a long time to put together. I should have a new video out this weekend though so stay tuned!
Fun Fact and a bit of Waldameer Park lore - The Ravine Flyer 2 was supposed to be a CCI that was supposed to be built in 1998 but lawsuits from the township and state pushed it back past CCI's closure and it was finally built by The Gravity Group and opened in 2008
Very cool! I knew it had quite the troubled past but didnt know that CCI was on board at one point, makes sense given the types of parks they were working with in this era. Thanks for the comment!
I found the first video in this set yesterday, and I watched all 5. Very good work. I found my self taking notes on coaster names, and writing down the ones I have ridden. It turns out, I have ridden 15 coasters that you mention by name. Harrisburg Pa is close to a lot of parks, you have to give credit to the North East....we love our parks. I will only bother to mention one just now, The Comet at Hershey Park. I am 64 and I visited Hershey park dozens of times when it was a free park with picnic groves. I am sure I have ridden more than 50 times in my life. It is still my Number 1 coaster, with the Phoenix at Knoebles Grove (having moved from texas) would be my second. Again, well over 50 rides. Thanks for the videos. Job well done!!!! Chetty from Harrisburg, Pa.
That's awesome! And a really cool exercise, I'm not sure how many of these rides I've actually ridden. I do know that I'm also a huge Comet fan - I originally got into coasters after a visit to Hershey when I was younger, so the Comet played a big (if indirect) role in the creation of these videos. Thanks for the comment!
When I was a kid the 90s, my friend had a VHS tape he got in the mail or from his older brother detailing what to expect that year for things like Wrestling, Monster Trucks, Skateboarding, and Roller Coasters. I wish I could remember who published it. It really was the attitude era.
I was looking for a good, thorough history on roller coasters and you definitely went above and beyond. I watched all of your coaster history videos, and looking forward to the next one. Very informative and entertaining! Your videos rival the best history videos I've seen.. including Weird History and the like.
Thanks for the videos, these have been great as I picked up new info and it scratched the itch of my long delay between riding coasters this year! Very well done
adventureland is my home park! i've been going there for 15 years and had no idea how significant outlaw was. that curved drop is insane and although it's certainly a rough coaster, it looks great---especially from the water park. also, it's pretty crazy that adventureland got the first gerstlauer infinity coaster in this hemisphere.
This video makes me feel yucky for not having a single Batman credit, knowing they are EVERYWHERE. This, to me, kinda seems like a second golden era for coasters. Arrow's still here, the new kids are popping up. It's all working out. On Arrow, though, it's good to learn why they're so rough. I had never really considered it. At a park I used to work at, we had a GCI wooden coaster. Ran flawlessly, it broke maybe once a year. Great to have backstory for them, too. Can't wait for Gerstlauer to pop up, I'm sure that'll be soon. Of course, I'm also sure that RMC will be soon, and, to that, I look less forward... As always, an excellent video! Thank you!
Hey thanks man! Definitely a really interesting era, I personally think Batman and Drachen Fire are two of the most important coasters in modern history, signaled a passing of the torch if you will. And yes I was very happy to talk about GCI, love them and their coasters. Thanks for the comment as always!
Just stumbled across your channel the other day. Hope you can get to do more content. Love what you've done. Would love to see you do individual manufactures or individual park historys both active and extinct. The only really good history on a manufacturer I've found is ACEs on Arrow.
Amazing to think that two engineers from a Swiss manufacturing company could, in only a few years, dethrone a juggernaut in the coaster industry like Arrow Dynamics.
I can personally attest that you were required to remove earrings on Steel Phantom. First time I rode it I had just got my ears pierced and had to take my studs out. Worth it!
How do you make a whole video on the history of coasters and you don’t mention Alton Towers once? First ever vertic drop coaster, first ever hydraulic launch coaster, so many missed opportunities.
The title of this video says “1989-1997.” Oblivion didn’t open until 1998. It’ll be in the next video in the series. Also, Xcelerator isn’t at Alton Towers.
15:21 JNB: That ptc sized gap wasn’t vacant for long. Me: Oh, can’t wait to see CCI JNB: Enter the Roller coaster cooperation of America Me: OH HELL NO!
Excellent summary. I'd only take issue with the strict definition of hypers (excluding Titan and Steel Eel as hypers) since hyper/giga/strata are all marketing terms invented at Cedar Point and don't hold a lot of useful value in coaster comparisons. But that's more a fun pedantic argument than real criticism - like arguing about what counts as a credit.
Thank you! Definitely a fair argument to bring up, I personally view the terms (hyper/giga/strata) as a reflection of the coaster model/coaster type - Steel Eel is clearly a Morgan hyper model, even though it doesn't hit the 200 foot threshold where many would consider it a hyper. There's definitely an interesting debate to be had here though, I'll try to approach Millennium and the gigas with some more nuance in the next video haha
It's great to see another installment of this series and you did a great job, but I will admit hitting the play button on this video and hearing undertale music playing fucking sent me.
Ah The Big One, I won £5 for my drawing of it at my local horticultural show (I grew up 10 miles from Blackpool) and £5 was a lot to 7 year old me. I am also scared that it’s 30 next year.
Six flags ga gets no love. The president of the park got b and m to design there first then he had the idea for Batman down to the name and asked them to suspend it. He really should be applauded as well because he is why we have b and m.
Please release another episode of this! 🙏🙏🙏🙏
Finally a new masterpiece from you! This channel is criminally underrated!
Absolutely fantastic. This is about as good as coaster content on UA-cam gets. Incredibly well-researched as well. Exceptional work, my friend. Can't wait for part 6!
Thanks so much!
Probably the most underrated amusement park/coaster channel out there - wish you would post more often. Content is top-quality stuff!

Dick Kinzel and the Magnum made Cedar Point what it is today. The CP of the '90s was a magical place. #Hypercoaster
This is a fantastic series!!!!!!!!!! I hope you release part six someday soon -- this is so well researched and fascinating. Thank you!

I didn't think there would be more videos in this series, but im very glad there is. Great video :)

Ermergerd! Wuz not expecting this! 😮😮😮 Can't wait to watch it!
Holy cow it’s been so long. Genuinely excited to see another installment. Thank you so much!
Haha yeah I got really behind on this series, excited to continue it though! Thanks for the comment
Just binge watched every episode. Truly QUALITY CONTENT. My boyfriend and I are dying for the next part!
1:59 this was brilliantly subtly-delivered 😅
Thank you for hitting a home run yet again!
New JNattyBoi video = instant like. Top-notch stuff as always
Thanks so much!

That's high praise! Thanks so much, really glad you're enjoying the series
I’d love to see a part six if you ever had the want to make it!! These videos are great.
Had to pause the vid one minute in as I recognised the song and had to look. Love the Bastion OST was surprised to hear it here xD
Thanks for the videos, these have been great as I picked up new info and it scratched the itch of my long delay between riding coasters this year! Very well done

This is an excellent series, I hope you continue with the videos :)

Absolutely incredible video

Love this series ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
This was excellent. Thank you so much.
Thank you for a new video, this series is amazing!!
Finally! Great to have you back!
Thank you! Glad to be back, this video took ages to put together
WE WANT MORE!!!!
Great content

Great video man!! I love videos formatted like this
before I begin watching, I'd just like to say: *LET'S FUCKING **_GOOOOOOOOO_*

Make another one plz! 1997-2005, then 2005-present!
We are watching this series in our 6th grade class!!!
That’s awesome! When I was in 6th grade I was stuck watching videos about the fertile crescent. Thanks for commenting!
@@JNattyBoi we are watching it in stem because we are doing a unit on rollercoasters. HELLO WESTONKA FAM

yay

JNB: That ptc sized gap wasn’t vacant for long.
Me: Oh, can’t wait to see CCI
JNB: Enter the Roller coaster cooperation of America
Me: OH HELL NO!
Ha! Wish I could say this is the last we’d see of them, but, as I’m sure you know, they’ll be featured heavily in the next episode
I'm just wondering when a new coaster war will start, and culminate with coasters that break Mach 2 speed and the 2,000-foot height marks.

It's great to see another installment of this series and you did a great job, but I will admit hitting the play button on this video and hearing undertale music playing fucking sent me.
Ha! You're actually the first person to mention undertale even though ive used that song for all 5 epsiodes, pretty funny
@@JNattyBoi ngl it's been so long since the last one that I completely forgot the first four also used undertale music 😭
Part 6 when????
What if the Dinn corporation was named after both founders, and then later merged with Bolliger & Mabillard? Makes one think...
Is there another episode coming out soon to continue the series or is it dead?
@@Faulty720 “soon” might be too strong of a word but a new episode is coming!
@@JNattyBoi Excellent, it's a good series and isn't up it's own arse or click baitey like so many others. Just simple and straight to it :)

I love your videos, but it's a bit too fast for me. 0.75x speed seems a better fit for me 😅
Good to know! I’ll try to slow down the next one, I didn’t want it to drag on for too long but it still ended up being a 25 minute video haha
"At Dutch Wonderland..."
My Dutch ass: "Wait what? Wonderland??"
"... in Pennsylvania"
Oh. 😂
as much as I'd like to keep the vid at 69 likes, this really deserves a like!

That story about drachen fire never happened that way. The decision to go with Arrow on the DF project was made long before B&M even existed.
