There was actually a high snow pack this year that helped Powell and Mead. So not all doom and gloom. Everything happens in cycles. And Nevada, Arizona, and California are restructuring the amount of water that they can take from the Colorado River (for the better).
I'm enjoying the road trip love that red color in the desert it's so pretty. Look forward to where our Captain Russ will take us next , thanks for cool ride.😊
I came home from Quartzsite that way this spring. Sure beats that mess they call Las Vegas! Callville Bay has a very nice campground, and so does Valley of Fire.
The lake has remained below full capacity since 1983 due to drought and increased water demand. As of July 2019, Lake Mead was at approximately 40% of full capacity with 10.4 million acre feet (12,800,000 ML) of held water.
Had to hang up the keys to the RV several years ago now. Your videos are a great way to get back on the road vicariously. Valley of Fire CG was one of our favorite stops on the way through there. Keep em coming, really enjoy them all.
We have severe flooding annually in the south east. Why don’t we build a water pipeline to pump water to areas that need it? We do it with oil, why not water.
Water does not require subsequent processing and problems with waste disposal. Pumping water relieves flooding and helps filling lakes which are in dangerously low levels. Water does not require further processing
@@jai6491 I believe you do not understand the energy requirements involved. Pumping huge amounts of water uphill will require huge amounts of energy resulting in air pollution. The answer, unfortunately, with our technology is to go to the water, not the other way around. Las Vegas may have a limited lifespan left.
Love your videos, we were just there last week on our way to Utah. Will you start giving us the time and temperature just so we know. Thank you. Love when you fly the drone. You should get a dog as a companion.
You did pass up 2 camp grounds....one right at the entrance you came in on the right and one at the north entrance about 9 miles from the entrance you came in.......the north entrance camp ground is surrounded by desert, but used to be surrounded by water....in the 80s.... sad...
Lake Mead, as of 10/04/19, is at 1,083.28 water level. This is higher than 2017 and 2018 same time period. With winter snow/rains approaching the pool will rise even more.
As soon as that lake goes away, so will Vegas and all the millions invested in property out there. I run that road as a truck driver and it’s sad to see that place go away.
Frightening to see how low the water level is there. Looks like this could get very bad for America ahead. If they can't channel more water into it somehow ?
There is mandatory rationing that will be going into effect soon. If Lake Mead drops too low, the dam will not be able to make electricity. If it drops to dead pool, it will not be able to pump out water. Las Vegas, Phoenix, and L.A. will feel this. Not to mention the farmers that depend on the water as well. I made a you tube video about it. I love your show. Keep up the great work.
@@kelleeb4394 Just curious, what makes you think they would ever allow the reservoir to get to Deadpool. The last time I was there was 3 years ago. After that big boat dock is a new water treatment plant. Everyone refuses to show it or talk about it. I can not figure it out. With that plant, that lake will never totally dry up or fill up.
You just passed up 2 boat launch ramps you could have drove right to the water also our Lake would not be that low if we didn't sell the water to Arizona California Mexico it would be overflowing but they have a contract
Hi Russ ! Well, after spending 29 years there in Henderson/Vegas and Lake Mead that is seriously low.. We have departed Henderson and, the desert heat forever.. Only 3% of the Earth's hydrosphere is fresh, and not all of that is potable. Lake Mead appears to become destined to be a classic, tragic example of over urbanization in Nevada, Arizona, and California depleting the water supply. A third drain was recently installed at Lake Mead due to the low water level. There's a video "Third Intake Documentary" on UA-cam that's interesting.
I have lived in Arizona for 30 years and the growth of urban fungus is sickening. My grandmother who died 26 years ago at the age of 98 saw the city of Phoenix grow from the turn of the century to the late 90's. She saw more technology than actual land expansion in her lifetime and my lifetime I've seen way more sprawl than you can imagine. I dont know how anyone allowed this given we have minimal water underneath its all brought in from the Colorado River . Dont get me started on the massive feed lots and agriculture that deep drills wells for themselves while local wells dry up because of it.
Bob Runde google senior lifetime federal park pass, current price is $80.00, I was fortunate to get it at $10.00 a couple of months before the rate went up. It can be purchased online(additional surcharge) or at any federal park that charges a fee. There is also a PDF document 300 pages long of places were the pass can be used. Remember it is for federal parks, not state. My state allows resident seniors 62 or older into the state park by showing drivers license, but only weekdays and non holidays.

Amazing. Is everyone totally oblivious to the drought the south west has been in for at least 12 years? Lake Mead Rec Area has been way down, starting with Lake Powell which at it’s lowest last year was down 120’. 1 year of decent rain is not going to make up for so many years of drought & it’s only going to get worse with all the housing they are building & lawns people are watering. 🤦♀️🤷♀️🤦♀️

Currently Lake Mead is at a higher level than since 2014. Execellent snow fall in the mountains last winter. Lake level at 1229'.
There are wild horses in that area....saw some last year.
Thanks for the good look at Lake Mead's water level.
Hi Russ, thank you for another great video!
Lake Mead is down about 125 feet year 2010. Wonderful video of Lake Mead road trip. Thank you! Please avoid Quartzsite. Once is enough.
Very cool 😎 thanks for sharing and safe travels

Do you not close and lock your van when you park and leave it. If you did that around Atlanta it would be gone when you got back.

So much POLITICS daily on TV that there is no mention of important issues like water or drought in the western states. Thanks for video Russ.
Which drought?
the problem is that the ground water is gone.....
What a beautiful view and area. Im sure that the apartment/condo complex has caused some of the drop in the water level. Its such a shame.
