Seems like a lot of it mostly comes down to understanding the economic situation of your nation. What you got in abundance and scarce on, and how to twist that in your favor.
FlyingDutchy, I appreciate the calculated and patient approach to this. I've had the game for awhile, and these videos are finally helping me understand everything. You rock ! Excited to get through the rest of it.

You've got the perfect pace. Most of youtubers I've seen are just going too fast. This is such a complex game that you need to take time to apprehend the depth of it.

I am still very much a beginner but do have a fair number of hours in my attempted learning curve.
I see a lot of different paths taken in playing this game and what my take is starting to be is the game sometimes really needs to be split into sectors such as early game pre war, then war preparation and finally a state of war with each very much changing what the countries needs and what they are trying to accomplish varying greatly.
Just like the trade laws, Germany can benefit early game from free trade laws IF you consider how much bonus you get for speeding up construction of civilian factories which should be the main focus early game.
Sure you are losing some resources early for military goods production but 2-2 1/2 years of building more factories faster will allow faster and more military factories a bit later which will make up for the initial loss during the entire war period of the game.
I would rather have more military factories a little later in the game making more advanced research weapons, tanks, planes and artillery than to have a few more early game beginning not as powerful weapons.
Of course this is just another possibility but the game is all about crunching numbers and give and take in every aspect of its play.
What makes it so addicting is so many different ways to approach skinning the same cat in the end!

Hi, is this the completely vanilla experience? Because in my game there's some different things than yours.

@@FlyingDutchy hello, mine is without dlc too, I bought them but turned them off. I have a whole focus branch called oppose hitler that you dont have. Is this new in vanilla game or are my turned off dlcs acting up?
It wont let me add convoy to trade with the dutch for rubber. It says convoy on 0
