Make destroyers with torpedoes (as many as possible) and make light cruisers with a lot of light attack. Submarines aren't really necessary, but if the enemy doesn't counter them they are free torpedo attack. Maybe give some destroyers depths charges to counter submarines. That is all you need to beat any navy. If you have the industry (bit most importantly the patience) make carriers with only naval bombers (no more than 4 per battle, and any more will hurt their performance), and protect them with the heavy cruisers. If you make carriers, either give all ships the best AA, and outfit the heavy cruisers with the best armour and just AA guns; or make the absolute crappiest destroyers and heavy cruisers to protect the carriers. *Why does this work?* The light cruisers with light attack will shred any screens they come in contact with. This will allow torpedoes to decimate any capital ship. Torpedoes suck against screens, so you may want to opt for destroyers with an extra light attack battery. Carriers are absolute beast when outfitted with naval bombers (they get a 300% damage bonus), but they will always be targeted by other airplanes (except if you make super heavy battleships, which you should not), so you must outfit them with the best AA and even the secondary dual purpose battery. Fire control computers are your friends for extra AA and light attack. Due to how AA is calculated, the average AA of the fleet matters somewhat, so you may want to give all screens that protect carriers the best AA.
For me it's rather easy, even tho I try to be as historical as possible with my builds lol. I especially love Battleship or Carrier spam (yes Battleships aren't exactly profitable but idgaf, Heavy attack and armour go brrrr). Like say for Germany I of course do submarine spam, make the waters around Great Britain "caution" so that my convoys go all the way around instead of through the English Channel. With my Submarines I give them best engine and all the torpedoes, and send them into the sea zones off the coast of Portugual, the one above that that is not the Irish Sea, and possibly if I have enough subs put some off of Morocco. This is so that I can starve the shit out of Britain of resources and civies (plus France is easy cap so don't gaf about them). But since I'm a Battleship fan I must build my Uber German battleships, and so go hard on making Battleships with speeds of at least more than 28 knots and enough heavy guns to kill anything, ntm the best armour. Rarely do I ever make Battlecruisers. Cruisers are easy, make a Heavy variant for the added Heavy attack and a light variant for light attack to ward off enemy destroyers. Destroyers I just give them all the AA (so DP guns) and anti-sub equipment ntm a good balance of torpedoes, at least 2 launchers. My favorite mod for naval tho is the Naval Rework Mod which allows you to pretty much make historical ships and absolutely stupid ships too that are hilarious. (This mod is stupid fun with the industrial power that is the United States) Make note that you want to keep Submarines separate from your main fleet/s, and your main fleet should not be your entire navy unless it is small (like the United States and Britain can have multiple large fleets vs the Germans or Italians at the start).
Regarding first option, you dont need to take Siam in order to invade Iran. Its possible going from Taiwan direct to Iran, if Benito allows you to use port in Etiopia to give naval supremacy around India.
I wish the US was even as a AI impossible to beat on historical and hard difficulty so you get an idea why the Japanese thought Pearl Harbour was a good idea and why they knew it was a ticking clock until they could not possibly win
Not for me. On historical its too cheesy for my taste to rush everything down. Prefer a buildup and voluteer phase and then some WW2 atmosphere. But what did i expect on a guide from our man Taureor 😁

However given that the "allmighty god on earth" that was the emperor was nothing more than a mere figurehead to the army he couldn't really do much to stop them. A prime minister who was also against the wars was assassinated and i believe there was an attempt on Hirohitos direct family aswell. At the end of the war he was the one to break the deadlock on the issue of surrendering, after the sun was dropped on them twice.

I request an Italy opener. What I usually do is immediately justify on Austria and a UK puppet (maybe in the Pacific). Once the war in Ethiopia concludes, you can join the Axis and move your entire fleet to Northern Germany. Once you capitulate Austria you can naval invade the UK at Hull. Do it fast enough and you can capitulate UK before France joins the Allies, so you can quick-justify on France just before UK surrenders. Is there a faster way other than paratroopers?
I thought that it’s possible to navally invade from a country you have military access to if you set a naval invasion order into that country first. Is that not the case?

After it's set you can delete the first order (from Japan to Genova) and set sail from Genova to France directly. This would save you a lot of time. Already tested it in Japan's achievement runs.

Historical opener (spend years fighting in China for small gains). It can be good for grinding generals though. If you want to do this try using the Aichi (range, unlocked in focus tree) Mio with CAS. It will make the war easy.
Go for USA by justifying against Mexico and invade using your longest range carriers (I had a longer reply earlier that somehow got deleted, if this one goes too I'll give up on this 'tip')

no, military access should suffice. try waiting a month or so, this should be working, mabe the game needs to recalculate stuff. Some changes only come into effect once a moth or so. Also did Ethiopia capitulate yet?
If you fight the war with China, during the fighting you can justify minors like Iran, Iraq, & Turkey, and when you capitulate China, the minors surrender also.
You could alternatively puppet France but leave one single state unpupetted. This will leave the original France as an independent rump state and generate a new France as your puppet. Germany will only get a war goal on the original France and your France will be left alone.
