Tip from a C student in Spanish. Whenever you say a verb for the first time in a video, say what it means because i don't have all the verbs memorized, Thank you for the videos, they do help.
professor jason.. i can not tell u how much your lessons are saving my grade.. right now.! it is so hard to understand my span teacher but u are actually making sense of this!! thank you!! and please continue with many more spanish lessons
Yet again, the Spanish language is shown to be beautifully logical. Since the subjunctive expresses a certain "un-reality" (We desire that he appear before the court"), it makes a lot of sense to just switch the ending vowel. Great vid!
You're lessons really are SO useful, its amazing how something that first appears to be so confusing can actually be so simple when taught by such a brilliant teacher. Thankyou for helping so much. Jessica.
Hola Señor. Soy de India. He estado aprendiendo español por seis meses pasado pero creí que idioma es muy difícil sin embargo ahora puedo hablar con su ayuda. Muchísimos gracias
WoW!!!! i can't tell you how much I appreciate your instructional videos! I've been stressing strongly the past couple weeks trying desperately to make sense of this language mostly by myself. Your short and informative video has made SOOOO much clear I am excited and my motivation to continue learning Spanish has rejuvenated thanks to you!!! once again! Thank you so much... I wish more teachers were as clear as you.
Thank you so much. My teacher just tells us to read the text book and expects us to get it, but after watching your videos I finally get it clearly. Thank you.
I'm learning French and I was a bit confused about what the subjunctive is. My native language is Spanish and this video helped to understand this piece of grammar in my own language LOL, your accent is extremely good.
this lesson was extremely helpful. I love you work but In my opinion i think that the changes in a -car -gar and -zar changes would be helpful. -car = -que, -gar = -gue, and -zar = -se
Omg I've been chatting in Spanish with my friends for ages without knowing this o_0 I constantly form these kinds of sentences, and have been using normal tenses. No one told me! It's only when I started to notice weird conjugations that I looked into it. I guess I have a whole bunch of learning to do haha
@geezwhycantifindanam only is for some odd reason, the sentence were arranged with that clause at the beginning, or is a partial command form (independent clause implied): Que vengan más tarde. (Quiero que vengan más tarde). Good question.
I am not sure about "ra", but "se" attached to the end of an infinitive implies that the verb is reflexive. This is not a tense; rather, it means that the subject is performing the action on it self. For example: bañarse (to take a bath) is the infinitive form of a reflexive verb. To say "He bathes himself": (El) se baña. To say "I bathe myself": (Yo) me baña. I hope this helps. Someone please correct me if I am wrong.
When would you use this form instead of simple present tense? I've been living in Chile for 2 years now and studying some more grammar like this would really help!
I'm a german guy. My english is not that good. Like you see ^^. But i understood the whole video. You helped me alot thanks! Now my class test can come :)!
@soccerruben1 Allow me to correct you. La razon por la cual no habla Español (el pofesor) en este video es para ayudar a las personas que tienen problemas con Español. Espero que usted entienda.
@monika28400 La razón por la que no hablan español en este vídeo es que es ayudar a las personas que tienen problemas con el español espero que usted entienda esta
Couldn't get this to post on the other subjunctive lesson. You can say, "Vamos a almorzar en el parque aunque llueve." It will then mean, "We are going to eat lunch in the park even though it is raining." Is that correct?
Porque en todos los países, excepto en España, la segunda persona del plural es ustedes, y sus conjugaciones coinciden con la de la tercera persona del plural (ellos/as)
Is it correct that the ONLY IRREGULAR FORMS (That cannot be taken from conjugating the indicative yo form) in the subjunctive are dar, ser, ir, estar and saber?
The funny thing is, we, the Austrians who are talking german too of course, use a sixth ending of a verb, which I didn't figure out in this video. It's called for example habléis if you took it in the subjunctive. You, the english or american language native speakers use 'you' for both, singular and plural. We don't do that. We use 'du' for singular and 'ihr' for plural. We are learning these 'os habléis'-forms and you don't. Those are interesting language differences in my opinion :D
+Ron El Ston Many teachers (including myself) don't use the "vosotros" form. I consider it to be "non standard", since it's only used in parts of Spain. The same thing happens with the singular "vos", which is actually widely used in many places throughout Latin American. I include both forms in some of my more advanced classes.
I always am humbled by how much I have to learn while at same time many native speakers consider me semi fluent. Ja. Tengo un largo camino por recorrer para ser fluido.
okay, but then why is it still "opposite" for an ir verb? I'm not trying to be difficult, but when I hear "opposite" I can really only think of two options instead of three...
How come you never put the you plural endings of verbs? Ais and Eis for the subjunctive no? Is it because you studied South American Spanish? as I understand it's only Spain that uses You Plural?
+Gale Mackey Only with regard to the verbs whose yo-forms are completely irregular. For verbs such as "querer," "poder," and "volver," the vowel change only occurs when the stem is stressed ("quiera," "pueda," "vuelva") When the stem is NOT stressed (as in the "nosotros" form), the stem change is not retained ("queramos," "podamos," "volvamos"), as is the case in the Indicative of those same verbs.

i have been in spanish for four years and could never understand the subjunctive. now it all seems so clear! thanks!
Explaining Spanish grammar at its best.
From all the teachers I have had no one can match you.
Thank you

Es verdad
¿Por qué omite la segunda persona del plural?
Jason your videos are fantastic.
@soccerruben1 Allow me to correct you. La razon por la cual no habla Español (el pofesor) en este video es para ayudar a las personas que tienen problemas con Español. Espero que usted entienda.
YOU ARE AWESOME!!!! THANK YOU!!!! I was super confused and now I am super happy to understand (:
Thanks!

Is it correct that the ONLY IRREGULAR FORMS (That cannot be taken from conjugating the indicative yo form) in the subjunctive are dar, ser, ir, estar and saber?
Thanks Professor Jason, I appreciate it.
what is the difference between irregular ans stem chanigng verbs? thanks
So wait, the imperatives come from these?
Is an imperative like a stand-alone subjunctive clause with the main clause implied?
The funny thing is, we, the Austrians who are talking german too of course, use a sixth ending of a verb, which I didn't figure out in this video. My spanish textbook shows "des" (no accent) for the tú form of "dar" in the present subjunctive.
Thanks so much! Really helpful video!
so helpful! thank you
solid job professor jason
This helps so much! Thanks!
Is the verb "haber" also irregular?
okay, but then why is it still "opposite" for an ir verb? I'm not trying to be difficult, but when I hear "opposite" I can really only think of two options instead of three...
@monika28400 la leccion/las lecciones "por ellos" = by them "para ellos" = to them Ingles= English.
Muchas gracias por el video
porque estoy usando Dos Clause " Main Clause and Subordinate Clause"...Usted puede explicar un poco mas.. !!
I love this video!
@KaylasbChannel why, does "professor jason" is not helping you?
How come you never put the you plural endings of verbs?
Ais and Eis for the subjunctive no?

In the stem changers, does the nosotros form also keep the stem change?
Yes it does
+Gale Mackey Only with regard to the verbs whose yo-forms are completely irregular. Thanks! He didn't make it very clear in the video (if I recall correctly), but you pretty much hit the nail on the head! haha

Isn't the 5th person missing?
salga, salgas, salga, salgamos, "salgais", salgan?
+Interlude jpg Many teachers (including myself) don't use the "vosotros" form. I consider it to be "non standard", since it's only used in parts of Spain. thats so helpfull :)) gracias :))))
very helpful, thanks ;)
@ART1025MXL okay, Gracias!
I understand Spanish rather than speaking it, cuz I mess up sometimes
Thank you!!!!
John, see my video on "when and why to use the subjunctive"
There is one error- in the conjugation of "dar" only the yo and the el/ella/ud. form has an accent, not all of them.
Gracias, subscribido haha thanks!! A on my prueba
Thanks!
what if i'm going to spain?
