My fav thing about you is your voice! You’re unique on YT bc you are so chill. Never anxiety-inducing. Always such a generous, open spirit. Always so patient. You give important information to novices but without condescending. You don’t know me but for years I’ve felt like you’re genuinely here to help me be my very best.
As someone who literally just started using gel polish, this video couldn't have come at a better time lol I just did an easter mani with builder gel as my overlay on my natural nails and I had the shape somewhat okay but they were nice and smooth, now they look a little thick and lumpy, I now realize I went too heavy with my first coat, I happen to have a gel brush so I think ill also give that a try next time! Thank you for sharing! Happy Easter 💜
I have had issues in the past with the gel polish being too thick. The problem was the gel polish. It would get old or too thick in the bottle and hands down the best method I found for fixing this was simply soaking the bottle in hot water. I take water out of my coffee pot and just soak the bottom portion in the water for a minute. It returned to being nice and thin and applied amazingly well.
I was a picky client paired with a fantastic nail technician who knew me so well that she always made me happy and proud to show off her fantastic talents! I appreciate teachers like you that help me understand techniques so I can better my own efforts at home!
For those of you new to using a drill be sure to file lightly and keep the bit parallel to the nail. Otherwise you may carve into the natural nail. It doesn't take much.
I am so mad I needed this like weeks ago. 😩 Bless up Suzie I definitely needed the tips! I always end up with bulky nails and never understood how you guys did it. I’m excited to try again
picky client here, I really appreciate your videos and advice to new nail tech students and your philosophy about using the criticism to improve your product applies everywhere in life, great tip!
Suzie, how did you know this is EXACTLY what I needed today?? I sculpted my nails last night while I rewatched your video about making your nails look thinner (file the top side!) last night while sculpting. I was just about to search for a video like this and you were first on my recommended! 😍
I feel like the music selection of this video makes this so fun, entertaining, and educational. I feel like I’m finding out a major key-thank you so much! I was just thinking about how I may need a bit like that and yours shows up you’re an angel.💜💜💜
Your videos are some of my favorites when it comes to nails. Your personality really comes through and makes it feel like I'm sitting across the table with a girlfriend. Never change, Susie!
Thank you so much. The thick look gel polish gives my nails that I've spent a lot of time shaping just drives me crazy! This method may be a little more time consuming but so worth it in the end.
for anyone who doesnt want to or can’t get a dedicated gel brush you could also do the edges and free edge capping FIRST then do the colour application over the entire main nail
I learned so much from you. I just started before Christmas & I'm already addicted. 1st I treated myself to a Markatt hybrid-gel starter set...since then I bought a lot of nail stuff. It's such a colorful & fun world. I'm a fine artist & love the endless possibilities that the world of nails brings. Thanks for the great videos. Love from Germany 🇩🇪💕💅🏼
I want to thank you, Suzie, for all the infos and great videos( big thanks to Cameraman too, you do a perfect job🥇) i am a fan from far away! I started nails about 18 years ago and spent a lot if time and money when i was still living in Switzerland... When i found my hubby in South Africa 8 years ago and moved definitely to this awesome continent i had not the money to go and get my nails done. I started watching videos and bought slowly slowly everything i need to do it myself 😅 With your support, experiences and ideas i got so motivated that i am now part of the "beginners" and i just love it❣️ Its becoming a hobby and going to be a passion...i am so happy and i get positiv feedbacks from lots of people😃 Thanks again, Suzie, please make lots of videos for us...you are a ⭐️ Big hug from South Africa Suzanne🤗( name sister😂)
Thanks for this, Suzie! I could never figure out why my nails looked so fat after all that work. Always so disappointed in my final product. Can’t wait to experiment!
This is incredibly help and helped me problem solve my most recent home-manicure! Also I'm loving the new background arrangement w the flowers and angle and everything. Good vibes!
New to watching your videos and doing my own nails. And OMG! Your like the Bob Ross of nails! Making Happy little nails! Thank you teaching all kinds of stuff!
You are such an inspiration to many and your willingness to share your knowledge is greatly appreciated. I hope you will talk more about pricing, advertising and building a business plan to help your subscribers prepare for success like you. Thanks for caring.
I buff mine if it looks too thick or to level out hand painted designs. But im so excited to watch this & learn new techniques instead of a buffer!!! I love your videos they are so informative...i love that ive been able to learn from a pro the past couple years 🥰 so much of my success i can attribute to your knowledge & guidance!
Thank you, thank you for this video. I always wondered why my nails looked so bulky after they were shaped perfectly. Thank you for solving my mystery. 😍🥰I love your videos and have learned a lot. Thank you for sharing. I will definitely be watching.😊
Flipping the finger up side down at ~45 degrees to the floor for a couple-five seconds before putting it in the lamp also helps to redistribute the bulk from the edge towards the center.
@@NailCareerEducation a top coat can be used for leveling. Yes, it’s not a builder layer and doesn’t add much structural support especially on longer nails. However, when doing nail art design such as adding lines/decals/paintings/etc or even with minor imperfections in regular color layer, a top coat can be used to level and smooth out the final surface. Having said that, one should be mindful of the overall thickness of the finished nail. If done right, the builder layer would be adequate for support, but the nail won’t be bulky even with all finishing/leveling layers.
Susie, you make me want to become a nail tech!! I would come to Canada for class if I could!! If you have any classes in the states, please let me know!! I would definitely sign up!!
Brilliant tip - thank you for this video - I've had those super lumpy areas at my cuticals, drives me mad and also at the bare edges which I end up putting too much gel on to try and hide them then they end up bulky too - your video was aimed right at me! Thank you 👍🤣😍🤦♀️
You just nailed, no hammered! my beef with gel polish. I can't explain why using a gel brush never occurred to me. Now we know! And those flowers in the background? Stunningly overdone and luxurious 😍
Thank you for this. I was getting so frustrated because I didn’t understand why my nail didn’t look the way I shaped it. I’m so tired just by watching your videos but I just didn’t understand what was going on. Thank you.
7:08 it helps if, after you apply topcoat, especially a thicker amount, you turn your finger upside down so you have that apex definition and a much smoother skinnier nail. sometimes i skip this because i put a thinner layer so it doesn't make a huge difference
thanks. i bought chrome powder and it wound up looking horrible because of how uneven the color gel underneath was. will definitely try using a different brush. your polish also looks a lot thinner than the ones I use, so I imagine the different brush will help.
I can see the difference when you put photos side by side. I had my nail lady do this shape a few days ago. I like them so yes I can tell the difference! 🤍
Omg how did I miss this! I had resisted the whole gel thing because I have such a large regular polish collection and I just started using gel. I don't like thick nails. I hope this helps!
I started doing hybrid gel nails using the poppit forms over a year ago bc of covid then I came across your utube channel and started watching your videos using acrylic So thanks to you Suzie I'm going to try my first set of pink and white acrylic 🙂 the results tba later 😜
Recently started using gel, and your videos have really helped. One question, and I apologize if it's dumb, but how do you clean the brush afterward? Acetone, alcohol? I'm assuming it can be cleaned to be used with different colors later.
This was an issue I had and noticed after finishing a full set. It bothered me so much because my base sculpt was perfect for me until I applied color. Thank you for posting this video!
ive been using lint free wipes that i use when im doing lashes, on my nails after drilling it helps with the dust so much and leaves absolutely no fuzzies
Suzie, you are so wise. I have learned so much from you. I just started doing nails and when I make a mistake I come right to your channel... So far you've had a solution to every situation I've been in. Truly thank you for your time! 🩵
How can you make a short almond? I love the shape but not sure how to create it without looking bulky. Love to watch you and get so many good helpful tips.
I appreciate the calmness in this video. No shouting, over excitement, loud voices etc. Just simple and to the point. Thank you
Best way to learn is when your calm
And THAT is why we are addicted to beautiful Suzie’s videos - 😄 We love you Suzie! Greetings from Australia 🇦🇺
What videos are you out there watching 😆👀
Omg could not agree more!

I am literally about to do the exact same thing for the first time and I thought "I should probably see what Suzie has to say first"!

Cool, Thanks
Thank you
Thats why I never do this! 😬
I did this... destroyed my nails and now beyond unfixable haha :(
I accidentally put a little dip in my nail bed from a flame tip because I didn’t keep it parallel ☠️☠️☠️☠️
I am so mad I needed this like weeks ago. 😩 Bless up Suzie I definitely needed the tips! I always end up with bulky nails and never understood how you guys did it. I’m excited to try again
I can’t wait till mine grow out too! I maybe could do infill perfectly this time 😍

The quality of this video is just outstanding. I love the close up shots and basically every post production aspect of the video.

Oh ♥ I love that yellow acrylic now! I didn't think I liked yellow as a nail color, but that's gorgeous
WONDERFUL TIP!!!! Thank you for sharing!!!!
This is incredibly help and helped me problem solve my most recent home-manicure! Also I'm loving the new background arrangement w the flowers and angle and everything. Good vibes!
Wow! How detail oriented. Congratulations!!! 👏🏽 🎉
New to watching your videos and doing my own nails. And OMG! Your like the Bob Ross of nails! Making Happy little nails!
Thank you teaching all kinds of stuff!
It works! My gel polish application is typically messy and goopy. Switched to the gel brush and thin strokes and got the neatest application!
I love your voice, you are just adorable! calm and love your education. Everything is so therapeutic!
Eat way to learn
I've been doing this for a few months and it makes all the difference in the world.
You are such an inspiration to many and your willingness to share your knowledge is greatly appreciated. I hope you will talk more about pricing, advertising and building a business plan to help your subscribers prepare for success like you. Thanks for caring.

I love the peace the calmness so much thank you
Thank you so much. This has bothered me for quite a while. I love using the art brush around the edges!!!
Great video! I used this technique today and my nails came out like I did them at the salon! Amazing 🤩
Flipping the finger up side down at ~45 degrees to the floor for a couple-five seconds before putting it in the lamp also helps to redistribute the bulk from the edge towards the center.
Honestly Top Coat is not a builder layer/ it’s simple to seal in and create shine
If your top coat is flowing like that / it’s too thick

I agree! I do that and it works fine.
@@DE-qy9om Rubber top coats are ideal for this method, normal ones usually over flow in my experience
ALways rest my heels and point the toes down! 😄 and of course the fingers, too for zero cuticle accumulation.
Love watching 💕❤️❤️ 👀 and learning new techniques 👍❤️💖
Suzie! Thank you I just discovered this method and it takes a bit longer like you said but so worth it.
Great tip on the gels by the way, works amazingly!
Thank You Susie!!! I should of figured this out a long time ago!!! The BEST!!!!! You Are The Best to me!!!!💯🥇
i love the sea of flowers😍⚘️🌷💐so pretty.
simple genius. Love your Clarity
Thank you for the tip Suzie. I'm sure this will help me as all your tips have thus far.
So thr algorithm and curiosity led me here. I have to say you have great production values. An enjoyable watch.
Susie, you make me want to become a nail tech!! I would come to Canada for class if I could!! If you have any classes in the states, please let me know!! I would definitely sign up!!

Such a great idea! I love gel polish but I don't like how my nails always look bulky. I'm definitely going to try this☺️❤️
suzie i need a brush video😩 your favorite acrylic brush, gel art brush, clean up brush, lil duster, all the brushes!
Good idea 👍🏼
i also found that using a gel brush really helps me get closer to the cuticle it just makes it look cleaner overall!!
The THINNESS of that nail is beautiful!!!
Absolutely gorgeous

Gel loves to be cleaned with Alcohol
Alcohol is excellent for a synthetic or natural haired bulrush too
Whoa….never ever thought of using a different brush…Genius‼️‼️🤓
Your voice is so calm ☺️
I’ve been using pudding gel more and more for this exact reason. I love that stuff. Venalisa makes wonderful, very pigmented, pudding gels.

I always look forward to your videos!!! Love your videos! And hopefully one day I can get my nails done from you in the future 🥰🥰🥰
