Dunlop FX Tour 500 2023: I play this stick since 4 weeks. 3 training matches, 1 double training session, 4 intensive single training sessions with two different coaches, 3 tournaments. I got this racket from my high class coach who is normally flying around the world for the German Tennis Association (DTB) to introduce promising young players into international tournaments and is the hitting partner of WTA player Mona Barthel but also a Dunlop dealer and insider..
My racket (demo) was initially strung with DUNLOP EXPLOSIVE SPIN 1,25 at 22kg mains and 20 kg crosses. So it is a stiff spin poly at a very low tension.
This combination of racket and strings is ruthless. I recommend this setup!
Power is enormous but the high trajectory spin arch let all my strokes dip in. Perfect heavy balls. Reminds a bit of a Babolat Pure Aero with RPM blast but MORE spin and power. As the Pure drive made a big forehand the Dunlop doesn't fail to do the same at my one handed topspin backhand. And slice also works great. This stick is the first I ever played where I can flatten out a baseline stroke out of a rally to suddenly open the throttle. So it is not only spin but speed will be found too. A quick and maneuverable racket for all ticky shots on the way to the net (half volleys, drop shots, down the line slices and so on). Great volleys and overheads. All types of serves superb.
2 points that make this stick superior in my eyes: First there is not a single shot that feels downgraded or suffering in advance to another shot. This racket does do ALL SHOTS perfect. Complete balance. Don't need to change a grip or a move or anything on any stroke - it works on both wings on everything right out of the box.
Second: Unique feel. As the video tries to explain: In your mind it feels as the ball stays a LONG TIME on the strings. Therefore great feedback. There is a bit of flex if you really accelerate your groundstrokes .Which makes the impact feel smoother the harder you hit. On the other hand the racket feels crisp and crystal clear on volleys. Sounds weird and I don'r know how this can be - but is how it is...
Sweetspot is large and forgiving more like a 100 sqrinch. The racket likes to add even some more mower if the contact is more to the tip. What is very useful if you have to run down a crossball you can barely reach. Coach no. 2 recognized that quickly and taught me intensively to hit flat counterstrikes out of defense stretched positions. Also this stick is very stable related to weight and swing weight. Never had an issue although I don't have my pinky on the handle and therefore a very loose grip at my topspin forehand if I play it deep in the court or behind the baseline.
At least I can play faster and harder than with every other racket since 20 years.
Thank you for your great work . great channel. All the Best from Germany - Frank

I’ve hit this racket twice now and found it far too HL. No where near as stable and powerful as my pure drive 98. Going to add 3-4 grams of tape 3 and 9 see if that sorts it out. It was strung with Dunlop Explosive Soeed though and I usually use Msv focus hex.

I bought last year the v.1 on sales and i am super happy with its overall performance! My choice out of the 5 rackets i currently own. The only downside for me is its stiffness RA 71!

Curious about this one for sure. Might have to give it a spin down in Indian Wells…

How do you determine the best weight racquet? The only way I can tell is laying all of my different racquets out and hit a ball machine and for me it's a Babolat pure drive lite and a old head radical how do pros get such heavy racquets moving so fast I'm 6ft 5 200 to 210lbs. Is there a formula to determine best weight for a certain swing speed? I played racquetball for years as a kid and tennis for 10yrs and feel I have a relatively fast swing speed with a serve around 115mph.

Very good Review. I play the new SX 300 Tour (98inch). In my opinion the FX 500 Tour is better for flatter shots and has a great convenient (because of less Flex) nevertheless direct response and touch, much better than for example a Pure Strike Tour (3rd). Just one question: Chris talk about an alternative racket which similar to the FX 500 Tour. I can't get the rackets name. Thanks a lot.

Sonic Core and Infinergy are not new. The previous version had both alerady. That‘s not an update. BTW i love the previous version with the same string!

I demoed this racket, the Wilson V4, and the Yonex 98. Dunlop was my favorite by far. Wilson game in last, Yonex 98 had nice control, but limited power. Dunlop had good control and definitely more power.

@@donkey3187 Yeah, i did not pick up the Dunlop FX 500, i let go back.. But i buy the new Blade 98 (305gr) online.. But it was a big misstake.. because i did not like the racket and the balance at all..(head heavy) i felt pretty nice in the hand from the sport shop.. but that was without the string.. No,to type of racket.. i´m more of a spin-guy..
I also buy the new Radical MP, and that fit me much better..even if i maybe more comfortable with 100" inch, but very stable rack with good control and gives good serve returns and good power on the serv for me..

haha, 'try the tour bite to see if the ball stays in a little more'. The objective of a sport is to bring out the talent within the individual and not let the equipment assist you, it then becomes a handicap and the sport loses it's uniqueness. Although tennis lost its uniqueness it had in thew 80's and 90's.

In what kind of sport the competitors would not use the equipment that allows them to perform the best?
I don't se runners use regular shoes, nether F1 pilots use regular cars, tires or fuel.
