Did anyone ever deserve a championship more ? It was an amazing season , I’d watched him dominate on 125s and thought he’d held back cautiously on his few 1992 250 races. At the beginning of the season my moto BFFs each had their picks and for some stupid reason I said McGrath , just thought he was mentally tough and technique was stellar. What a season when he started winning . Frankly , I loved it because JM always had a grateful attitude. I think my favorite Supercross season ever . Showtime !!!
I don't understand the question. Who ever wins the championship "deserves" it, because they EARNED it. I don't think the word "deserves" belongs in competition unless somebody got cheated, and deserves a review/reversal.
Bad fast, every last one of them. Without the “Barr’s Competition” equipment and involvement they had in their youth classes you may not have heard of some. God bless you Bobby Barr
MC was great, but the field was pretty cleared out and Stanton, Damon at the end of their interest. It might have been retirement time for Bailey and Johnson too if they did not get hurt. But I am sure we missed some great racing if Bayle would have stayed and still loved winning.
Stop. You still had LaRocco, Kiedrowski, Emig, Swink, and Bradshaw is a year younger than McGrath. It was a stacked field. Bayle wasn't even trying in '92 because he knew he was going road racing. Stanton had just won the title the year before, but in '93 he was washed up? 🤣👌
Why wasn't Pontiac 2 not red flagged? Stanton was motionless on the track for several minutes?! I've seen many races red flagged for such injuries or less.
I do miss the limitations of the smokers on tracks back then. Seems today that over 90% of those in the main can do 98% of the track consistently. Seemed like back then only the top 5 guys could pull off everything on the track, and even then not every lap.
I’ve always wondered why the announcers never hardly mentioned Larry Wards name. He was almost always in the top 10 yet they would always just kinda skip over him
Ohhh, you will never get me to embarrass myself by telling you I had a pair of pink and black tiger striped Gear Racewear pants, that were actually the most comfortable riding pant I had had. No way am I saying that in public. I never had a purple bike though. hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha :)
“Honda doesn’t put any pressure on me” ends up quitting the team haha. He’s confident and pressure has never gotten to him before. But he’s not a cocky rider right?
Cooper a class act , and what a incredible rider !

Nobody deserves it. It is earned.
@@EarthSurferUSA he absolutely earned it . Exactly and specifically, why the inferred hostility over semantics?

6:56 and that brings us to the Jeremy McGrath era
How’s it his era when he wasn’t a champion in 97

Gotta be top 3. When he was, they talked about him.
McGrath was Stanton's team mate. As soon as McGrath started beating him, thay were talking less and a rivalry started.
Happens every time, almost. David Bailey and Johnny O'Mara were the only friends in top competition that I know of.
Dude I had a purple YZ 250 back in the day
