This video perfectly explains how to clear system data. I was able to find a tonne of old video files that were taking up storage. Mostly old files previously downloaded from cloud apps. You should have a million views. You are a lifesaver!
omg my Mac shwoing 380+ GB System data.. wtf.. its shwoing for Users folder however when i get info , it shows 500 MB .hmm .. something hidden but its not showing up with command+Shift + .
My MAC has 89Gb of System storage and with only 121Gb this causes me problems as only have 12.85Gb available. Problem is I only have 217 Mb in the hidden Caches files. Also I have no documents at all on the MAC. Something is still using the System Data but what I do not know. This video did not give me the answer.
Click “View - List” with the root file selected that you want to view the folders in. Then press “CMND + J” and select “Calculate all Sizes” at the bottom of the pop up menu. You can also check always open in list view if you want.
The Containers folder is used for all the applications on your computer to exchange data. I would be very careful about deleting anything there, since the applications on your computer will look inside that folder to access files and folders. If you don't use a particular app any longer, you can safely delete its app folder in the Containers folder. Otherwise, I wouldn't touch anything that's in there. I've heard restarting your computer could reduce the size of "Containers" folder, but haven't tested that myself.
One thing to keep in mind is that there's always going to be some System Data. I try to keep mine at a minimum and I'm currently at 56GB, so 80GB isn't unusual, although it's a bit on the high side.

My "Containers" folder under Library is quite large at 13GB...do you know why that is? Anything to delete there?
