- Bought the Husqvarna LC221A Lawn Mower this last weekend and it performed wonderfully. The All-Wheel-Drive propulsion was a fantastic upgrade from my old push mower and when running with the mulch plug had a great looking cut with very finely cut chopped grass pieces.

This mower finally died. I pull started it with 2 pulls and mowed for about 5 minutes. Had to move something out of the way and when I went to start it after maybe 30 seconds it never started again. I checked the choke and that's fine and it's almost like something in the ignition died on it. I've tried all of the easy fixes and it's not worth my time to do anything else. So the total cost of ownership over 5 years is about $70 per year plus gasoline.
Love mine. It's been a reliable friend. No problems.
I've had mine for about a year. The LC 221A. I have a relatively large yard for a push mower (About an hour and a half mow) I see a lot of negative comments but I really like the mower and think it does a great job.
Mine in now 5 years old and I'm just now having to look up the model number (from my video of course) to see if there's a way for me to fix the AWD system. Some of the plastic covers have come off and the AWD belts are getting gummed up with clippings.

@@jeremynguyen2346 The AWD doesn't work, now that I look at it, the cable on the AWD engagement bar is very loose and I found a good video on how to replace it so I'll get the parts and will do that soon.

I love mine i got Honda engine one. Its fast and light. I cut professionally and its my go to for small yards i liked it so much i cut whole jobs.
Great lawnmower. The AWD is a great option. The one I have has a left or right hand self propel speed control which gives either hand a rest. The only problem I have is the bag when full I ripped it while trying to dump the grass. The handle does not seem strong enough.
Good review. I am getting this one on Saturday. I have a five year old Husky (self propelled) that has served me well. The mulching plug in your review looks like it is easier to remove than mine.
I push mow a half acre with mower. Does well for me being self propelled. It doesn’t like wet grass at all though. Clogs easily. I am able to mow mid to late afternoon most cases luckily
I got this mower (similar LC221AH) today for a Christmas gift. What's with all these Yankee flat lawns I keep seeing in these reviews? Y'all don't need all wheel drive, I NEED ALL WHEEL DRIVE. I've been PUSHING my old piece of garbage (front wheel drive - it does nothing) Craftsman mower across my thick St. Augustin grass for years (live in FL) and I've had it. So I bought this Husqavarna. Ain't used it yet, but "all wheel drive" is music to my tired muscles. We shall see. I'll report back.

Bought this today. Got it all set up but haven’t taken it for a spin yet. I have a little trouble getting the bag on. I have to fight with it. Any tips?

Did it come with oil inside the mower already? And if not do you add that whole container of oil it comes with?
No you add the oil yourself,fill it to the top hole on the dipstick...

Jonathan Gerlick nope. Just have to watch for clogs when cutting wet grass. No problems with the mower at all.
I'm thinking about buying this same mower. How well does the awd work?

So, is this mower any good after 4 years?
Still runs, starts good. Plastic pieces have gotten mangled and awd isn't as good as before but still cuts great.
do you have a rear chute discharge?
I haven't figured out how to get the control handle height higher for my tall self I like it, but until I can get the bar higher it hurts my back

Did you ever figure that out, or is it not adjustable? Got a used one, and mine seems pretty low as well
How long need Change oil.or how long need to refill oil
I picked one up, used it once and returned it , it’s not designed correctly, handle is to low, and how the underside is designed is flawed. The belt pulleys are not covered underneath, so debris gets trapped and can damage all that. The AWD stopped working after one use. Crap.

Run, don't walk away from Husqvarna mowers, especially the ones with AWD and Honda engines. They have major design flaws that will cost you a lot of money to repair. If you think Husqvarna + Honda = Quality you'd be WRONG!
Hondas are good engines. Not sure about the drivetrain though

Hint you push it... you already have 4 wheel “drive” on any push mower , dumbest stuff I ever seen on a pushmower 😂
Not dumb at all if you actually know what they mean. It's self propelled so there's a drive belt or shaft from the engine that goes to the wheels. The reason the Husqvarna is called AWD is because unlike a lot of self propelled mowers where the drive only goes to the rear wheels, on these ones all 4 are powered. Ask any landscaper or gardener who is out all day with these things and they'll tell you its one of the best things in the world. Long shot from "a joke" if your spending 8-10 hours pushing one around ;D
2 WHEELS ASSIST IS BETTER THAN YOU HAVING TO PUSH IT. 4 WHEELS DRIVE I DON'T CARE SO MUCH. BUT IF YOU LIKE TO PUSH A LAWN MOWER THAT'S ON YOU. THE WORLD SPINS BECAUSE YOU KEEP PUSHING IT.
