Jillian is totally right about this. I did it by accident and had two cheat days of around 3000 calories....took 3 days off weight lifting and wala! I lost 5 pounds after like a month of lingering around the same weight!
For the last two weeks I’ve been the same weight! Today I told my body to chill ! Today will be my high calorie day and trick my body! Saturday I’ll be back and doing different workouts. I’ve lost 60 pounds and 40 more to go!
Same here, been at the same weight for three weeks. I am still addicted to Body Revolution and Body Shred plus majority of Bob Harper workouts. Also losing 120 lbs might have also slowed my weight loss
Shes right on, I was cutting back on calories, eating clean and killing it in the gym, my weight actually stabilized, and I was like WTF is going on, I should be dropping weight like a heavy rain, the problem was, I wasn't taking enough time off or eating enough and my body adjusted to keep my weight right where it was. She knows what she is talking about.
Seriously went through so many videos on this topic & no one clearly explained what to do to solve this problem until now.. guys she did it in THREE MINUTES. Wtf. Lol I been eating 1200 calories a day, scale and all. Being 100% honest with myself, no cheats. Been working out every day & I can't lose any more weight ..... based off this video I probably need a break and a nice well deserved high calorie day 👏 finally someone explained it well.
I came back to this video just to comment how I did this and it worked for me!! I was stuck at 184-185 for SEVERAL months...did this and I’m now at 179-180 and have maintained it for over 2 months now!!
I weigh myself every day so I noticed I’ve been between 127-128 for over a month now. I workout daily, no breaks ( realized this is a mistake). I eat in a calorie deficit too.. yesterday I ate about 2300 calories and didn’t work out. I’ll take 2 more days off. I’ll be back to report on my progress! Hi guys! I’m here to give my report back. So after two weeks of doing what she said, now my scale number is finally dropping down again. I tried to take breaks whenever my body didn’t feel like it, changed some workouts here and there, I was eating two meals a day but I started eating three meals but still healthy and with the required calories. So it worked for me guys and I’m happy! If you’re reading this , don’t be afraid to take that break, your body needs it more than you can imagine. Also get 8 hours of sleep and drink your water! Lov ya💕
Please update us. I'm in the same boat. I workout without breaks (knowing it's a mistake as well) I weight lift and HIIT workouts. I eat high protein and low carb low sugar. I ate around 2,500 calories yesterday. I gained 4lbs 😞 now I'm second guessing myself. I ate healthy calories. Most all of them were healthy. Nuts, yogurt, grilled chicken sandwich (600 calories) steamed broccoli, and 5 homemade cookies 😐, and half a bag of "healthy" popcorn. Idk what to today. I'm back to the comments looking for hope. I think I'm going to workout again today.
@@skyjones4887 don’t! Just take those 3 days off. It’s worth it. Also if your body was sore you recover.. it’s only three days I get it. It’s hard to not workout, but chill and take that break. Your body needs it.. 3 days off won’t make you gain weight, and whatever you gain is just water weight which goes off in like 2 days
@@angeldominick9373 Thank you. I am on my third day of rest and I've still only gained four lbs but my clothes still fit the same. I'm confident it is water weight. I'll be back to update on my experience after a week of diet and exercise again 👍 thank you
I did this accidentally last weekend...I had a cheat day and ate 2000 calories including cake...I went hiking instead of the gym...and just hung out for a couple days drinking more water than usual....woke up this morning weighed myself and I lost 4 lbs after 2 weeks stuck at the same weight...🙃
@@cannotbeshaken7889wait I'm also confused.. what I got from the video is that, you take a high calorie for like 3 days while resting at home not doing anything intense.. after like 3 days you go back to the gym or your routine also increasing your calorie intake a bit.. am I in the right track?
I have been there hundreds of times, until I finally gave up.. I know you don't like people who give up, you made me go through an incredible body change journey since 2016, and i'm willing to go back on track with you, simply because you are the only person who literally can make me change for the better. Love you
I did this and it worked!! At first I was scared because I didn’t want to gain weight. I went from 58.4kg ( my plateau weight for weeks) to 59.1 but then the next day I worked out and ate less and quickly became 58.1kg. Update: I wrote that comment at the end of July, now is august 8th and I weight 56kg!! I do this method Everytime I’m stuck on a weight and I don’t feel hungry anymore cuz I eat whatever I want
can you just come live with me and yell at me when i make bad choices. this is so hard to do alone and work two jobs and raise kids and try to have a relationship with a guy who loves to eat out. i'm dying over here. sometimes i watch your vids more than once bc i want to remember what you said later
If u want it so bad u will work harder i kno its hard n i been there but im fit i feel great because i wanted so badly n i was heavy but it will all start mentally n once u see results ull work harder trust urself n dont give up
I have been saying that for years just based on my own experience and had no idea it was scientifically proven, I just knew it worked. This woman has reshaped my body and I love her for that. I have been exercising for almost 30 years; I am thin and fit but she really toned me up and made me stronger. ❤😘 Love you Jillian!
I just want to add that this helped out for me too! I did two days at 3000 calories. My weight increased 6 lbs for about 5 days. Then I started going down great after that… I lost the 6 lbs plus and another 10 lbs so 16lbs total in just two weeks. I was stuck for about 3 weeks at my previous weight. I also didn’t follow my workout routine I only walked. Just wanted to report that this worked for me too 😊🙌🏾
Jillian always tells it like it is. People don’t like to hear the truth which is why she gets some hate but people who can recognize the value she provides us backed up by SCIENCE, those people will make positive changes in their lives. Thank you Jillian.
I have been doing weight watchers and have hit a couple small plateaus and I found that adding more calories jumped started my weight loss again! This is great info and it works!

Your videos are so freaking informative, and they are so pleasantly direct. You’re not being a jerk about it but you just state in a mater of fact way that this is the truth and this is how you lose weight/get healthy. I thoroughly enjoy your videos.
For the past two years, I've lost over 20 pounds and kept it off. Year 3 and I gained 3 pounds. I've been averaging between 178 and 182. I am going to try and increase my calorie intake as well as switch up my routine at the gym. My goal is to get down to 160.
Thanks for this video. I've lost 35 lbs in about 5 months by counting calories and joining a gym. I hit a plateau and was stuck for three weeks. I increased the intensity of my cardio and it worked! Now you've provided me with even more info about what to do when this happens again. 😁😁
Megan, stop wasting your precious time by counting calories and going to the gym. Just cut your carb intake and replace it with healthy fats. It really is that simple. No more insulin spikes, no permanent hunger, no fat storage. You'll be lean in no time.
Thank you for this sensible advice. I stopped losing weight 3 weeks ago despite a calorie deficit and it's been really frustrating. There's a lot of "keep going" advice online, but I'm gonna try a high calorie day and changing up my routine.
I'm doing intermittent fasting and got stressed from a knee injury this spring. I rehabbed the knee but I believe the stress really affected my overall sense of well-being as I have had very little weight loss since. I feel it's a plateau as I'm eating the same. So I'll try to be patient and move my eating and exercise schedules around a bit. For me, I think it's very hard to lose weight if I am stressed or unhappy. It has to be a joyous thing! 😊
Such a helpful video thank you! Been stuck for 3 weeks and am in a 800-1000 cal deficit daily. I’m going to try and just go for walks the next couple days and have a high calorie day of 2000! Thanks so much!
@@nytrisha8851 It worked wonders!!! I was stuck at 68kg for ages and am now at 58kg 5 months later :) slow and steady weight loss but this trick has helped me push past many plateaus! I ate 2500-3000 calories for one day and then upped calories by 10-15% each time and I’m actually eating more calories now and losing more 👏🏼😍 Just have to be patient with it as it’s scary as you’ll see the scale go up for 2-3 days after the higher calorie day but don’t worry it is NOT fat it’s just water etc from the food and then your metabolism kicks back into gear and the weight dropped fast after that.
@@hannahkocher9198 So for example (this will be different for each person but for me personally) I was at a plateau eating about 1200-1300 so I then had a very high calorie day (about 3000 calories) and the next day I added 10-15% of extra calories to what I was eating previously (so it was 1200-1300 so I upped the calories to about 1450 total) and just kept the calories as that, when I hit another plateau I reduced calories by 50 per week until I got back to 1200 ish and then did the same process again, high calorie day and adding calories. I am aware that 1200 is way too low but I’ve been dieting for over 6 months and lost over 15kg so it’s normal weight loss is slower. I am now upping calories in reverse diet style very slowly by 50 calories every week or every 2 weeks to try and be eating a minimum of 1500 to continue my fat loss journey! I hope this helps 💖
I think I did this accidently too. Took off Wed, but ate well, then just did some walking Thursday, Friday I checked and lost a pound and a half. Then sometimes I put the peddle down hard for days in a row, eat low cal., and it seems like the progress slows a bit. I think our bodies need that security blanket once in a while.
Since June 5th of this year, I have got down from 16st 8lbs to 13st 5lbs. I understand I can't continue to lose weight that fast but I've been in a plateau for a couple of weeks now. Despite working out for 2 hours a day with cardio and weight and being in a 700 calorie deficit! I'm going to try this for the next few days and update in a week or so :)
I watched this yesterday and I tried it, I cooked a homemade hot pot and threw a lot of high calories ingredients in it. At first I thought I was just finding excuses for myself to have the food I've been craving, but IT ACTUALLY WORKED!!!! I started to loose weight this morning for the first time in 2 weeks!!!(๑•̀ㅂ•́)و✧
so happy I found out about the plateau, I’ve been eating around 1500-1600 calories a day, decently healthy and drinking a gallon of water a day, and I’ve been more active, and I checked the scale today after about 2 weeks and I didn’t lose any weight well maybe 1 or 2 pounds but I’ve been stuck at 204-210 pounds for like 5 months this morning when I checked I was really sad but now I’m gaining hope and I hope this works 😁
@@toastandjam6187 When i first started i had zero muscle mass and when i began plateauing I lifted weights build muscle mass while increasing the intensity of my cardio workout and it did the trick.

I feel like I've been stuck on a plateau for quite some time now. I have been eating around 1200-1400 cal for a while (jumping from dietician to dietician). I workout out a lot and still see nothing. I want to start increasing my calories but I just do not know how to do it properly. I am taking about 1 week of rest (no exercise). I am kind of scared to gain some fat if I increase my calories, but I feel like this is the only way I'll break my plateau.
Ana I relate to this I’ve been eating 1200 calories for 3 months and now I’m at a plateau. I can’t go lower in my calories so I know I have to eat more but I’m terrified to increase my calories. I ate about 1600 calories today and I plan to go up to 1400 calories soon.
Thanks for this. Started 6 weeks ago and already down 32lbs from 321lbs. Eating about 1,200-1400 calories a day. Was having issues of crashing at the gym and doc said up my sodium intake which was hilarious after hearing I needed to cut down. Starting the first plateau so tried to show my body I wasn't starving had 1 cookie and a decent calorie/carb meal which made me feel guilty but my body feels better overall so made putting in some extra work at the gym a bit more tolerable. Would of loved to be on biggest loser show and learn from you guys.
This is why I am taking my weight loss super slow. I exercise 4 to 6 days a week. 1200to 1500 caloroes a day but I eat whatever I want. My exercises aren't super high intensity. I am toning but scale isn't budging much. But I think inches are coming off. I don't feel overly tired or hungry either. I feel this will help me keep this as a lifestyle than just a diet for the moment.
@@khushichhabria6463 me for almost a year (I lost 5 kg then stuck at the same weight) :/ but it might be because i'm not exactly tracking? i'll try her advice though of taking a break a see if that changes anything.
Wow thats kinda what I just did. I wasn't on a plateau but I had been craving a bunch of junk food and I gave myself 1 day to eat anything I want. I then did a 1 day fast the next day and was suprised that I felt energized and good all the way up to like 8pm which is when I started to feel it. Now I'm not craving junk food, I feel energized by all the carbs, and lost a little bit of weight. I'm going to do this every 2 weeks. It will be interesting to see how it will work when I really hit that plateau.
Ive been nearly starving myself which isnt anything too bad but i plateaued only 16 kg short of my goal. I began taking your advice eating more calories and not go to the gym, and once i started going again i lift heavy weights increase the intensity of my cardio and i began dropping weight again. So heres the tip Take the first week off of the gym and eat more calories then whats your deficit like Jill says. Increase the intensity of your workout and change it up if its too easy. It works every single time
@@angeldominick9373 what happened? Did you gain weight during your high calorie days? If so did you drop it quick? I'm stuck at 144 but yesterday I watched this video and I tried to eat high healthy calories, high in protein calories, and I gained 4 lbs 🥴 I'm scared to eat another high calorie day. I think I'm going to eat low calorie but still not workout? Or maybe I should workout. Idk. I'm scared to get fat again.
@@skyjones4887 I feel you sky. In those three days I ate a lot, but I struggled to eat about 2000 cals it’s harder than I thought. I took 3 days off gym and my body recovered well. In those three days I added 2 pounds. After a week I lost those two pounds (Cux they are just water). It’s only been a week so I can’t say I already have results cuz you know it takes time… I’d advise you if you really on a plateau to keep eating those two days and don’t exercise.. I know it’s scary but that’s how you shock your body. I also struggled to not exercise
@@angeldominick9373 today's my last day. Thank you. I'm definitely excited to start working out tomorrow. I ate low calories the second two days but I ate carbs and sugars which I normally don't do.
I tried her suggestion and it worked! My weight stall was about a month long. I was eating at 1600 and exercising 30-45 min of low impact workouts 5x a week. I was weighing my food and technically should have had a 500-600 calorie deficit. But like I said I had not lost weight for an entire month. So I did her suggestion and had a high calorie day. I upped my calories to 1750-1900 for 2 weeks and did no workouts. Which is longer than she suggested. And after 2 weeks I was down 1.5 lbs. Today I am back on my weight loss plan and will eat 1500 5x a week and 2 higher calorie days of 1800. I will also up my intensity of my cardio workouts to 45 min 2x a week and start weight training 3x a week.
One other thing, I'm also planning on taking a 2 week diet break at least 4 times a year (once a quarter). I plan to lose about 10 lbs each quarter or 40 lbs each year. This means that it will take me nearly 2 years to reach my goal weight of 105 but I'm ok with it.
I have been at a weight plateau of 167 lbs. for three weeks. I am willing to try this method. I had been depriving myself a lot - less than 1200 calories and exercise religiously every single day. I am going to try this rest and eat, even though I feel so guilty.
No, but thanks for askiing. I have now tried to add some weights, but the 3 day of eating & no exercise didn't work. I have tried so many YT ideas to break a plateau. But upping calories does not help me
I sympathize with you. Maybe try adding some weight lifting, or a different aerobic exercise. I don't know how all these people say her advice worked for them so successfully. Everyone is different. It really Sucks being in this plateau. Nothing seems to work, and I've been reading everything about breaking plateaus. They say keep going, keep eating well and exercising. I wish that I could be of more help. Sorry. I understand the frustration.
@@noellesnow186 I’m already weightlifting 3-4 times a week :(, yesterday I ate a high calorie day around 2k calories and today I’m light fasting (barely had anything to eat) I’m down 4 pounds from yesterday morning so I’ll try to just go light and see if this works. I wish you the best and lmk when you get past it

I've been doing IF for the past 3 months with GREAT results. I have NOT been tracking my caloric intake. Just knowing that I eat smaller portions as compared to my pre IF period. I'm very active, as I work out 4x a week, so I know I expend a lot of energy regularly. I've now hit a plateau. My question is this: How long should I eat at an increased caloric amount before switching back to my reduced portions?
Exactly what I did.. my weight loss stalled after having lost 5kg. Was training and calorie deficient n no drop. So I ate a bit more but did stay in calorie deficit, didn't go to the gym a few days and sure enough I dropped 3kg in 2 weeks.
I weighed myself every day for the past 2 weeks... And my weight was EXACTLY the same every day. I didn't do a lot of exercises, but then I started walking 10k steps per day 2 days ago, and I started weight training again. I am so confused why I'm still not losing anything. I am even eating according to my caloric needs. I am eating healthfully, I try to sleep enough as well and I switched up the frequency of my meals also. Usually, once a week I also eat a higher amount of food and I take regular rest days. I have no idea why my weight is still the same 😕🤔
I weighed the same for a good 2 weeks and I was doing cardio, strength training, eating less and i still couldn't lose those pounds on the scale but the waist was a different story, i went down two belt sizes. If you are really doing cardio, strength training and eating better you might not see it on the scale just yet.
Jillian, eating the 2,000 calories is just for the one day right? 3 days no gym and only one day of big calories. Then add 10% more. Am I saying this right? Cause I tried getting 2,000 calories in today and it was HARD!
I know this to be true, so thanks for explaining why this happens, when I was losing my 3 stone, I would worry everytime I would have a rare sweet treat, but I would always have a loss that week 👍
I followed this and 9 days later i dropped 3 pounds 😅 i have a question though, for how much longer should I sustain the 10% calorie increase and the higher intensity workouts? Until i reach my weight loss goal? Im afraid that at some point when my body adjusts ill start gaining weight again 😓
I haven't been exercising or getting enough sleep because I'm stressed and trying to fit studying for class. This summer I'm not taking any classes and solely focusing on exercising and resistance training. I'm eating 1200 cals a day. I've been experiencing plateau for a couple months. Was 189 lbs june 2020 now I'm 157 lbs june 2021. But I've been plateauing since january from 155-158 lbs. Do you think my plan for summer will work if I stick to 1200 cals/day. I'm 5'4" female age 31 y.o. Thank you.
What kind of food should we eat for those days off to meet that higher calorie, just the same healthy food as we normally eat during our diet/exercise prior to the plateau or do we need cheat meals with unhealthy food to fool our body. Not sure what to do anymore. I work my ass off, feel a lot stronger but can’t loose the fat anymore!!
I tried eating high protein high calorie, low carbs. I gained 4 lbs!!! Did you succeed? I need help today before I start working out when I shouldn't!?!??
I started in March with 150 lbs to lose I have lost 50 lbs and for the last 3 weeks I have lost nothing … I haven’t gained either but it’s so frustrating
Jillian I have a question for you. I've been physically active the majority of my adult life. I have been involved in sports of some kind since I was 4 years old. I ran track and cross country in high school. I started weight training at 19. I did some bodybuilding into my 20's. I am 44 years old. I've never had a weight problem. I run anywhere from 30 to 50 plus miles a week. I get to the gym at least 2 to 3 times a week. I basically exercise everyday-7 days a week. I never eat junk food with the exception of some desert during holidays with family. I eat a clean diet of lean meats and vegetables. My Dad comes in to town every once in a while. Last time he came he bought a package of chocolate chip cookies for himself that he never ate. I put them in the freezer to keep them from going bad in case he wants them when he comes back. Well last night I decided to try one. I ended up binging on about 5 cookies. I woke up this morning and ran almost 11 miles at a FASTER pace than I normally run. Is it possible my body stored that sugar as energy I used today? I just found it kind of strange that I ran so well this morning.
That is called 'Carb Loading' and is a practice of many athletes. www.mayoclinic.org/healthy-lifestyle/nutrition-and-healthy-eating/in-depth/carbohydrate-loading/art-20048518

Those. the process of movement of disease or recovery. Plateau geographical designation (fr. Yuuuup its been since September or October since the scale has moved i lost about 50 pounds already And i do workout but scale don't budge no matter what i do
Is there anything else we can do other than count calories? I tend to get very obsessed very quickly and gets unhealthy pretty fast. I've tried keeping a for journal, without calories, and it's better but I don't know if it actually helps if you aren't counting calories. I would like to lose body fat and get more toned and I want to do it in a healthy, happy way. I've struggle with eating disorders in the past and even though I am much better now it's difficult to find a balance between wanting to reach those health goals and not going down the calorie counting rabbit hole again. Thank you!
Calorie is an invention, a meaningless technical term to trick us into believing that all macronutrients are the same. Energy wise this is true but not in the way they are utilized by our body once digested. Making macronutrients equal by just measuring their caloric value is like comparing, for example, a boat and a violin in terms of the man-hours required to make them.

I have been there hundreds of times, until I finally gave up.. I know you don't like people who give up, you made me go through an incredible body change journey since 2016, and i'm willing to go back on track with you, simply because you are the only person who literally can make me change for the better.

Honestly talk to whoever you're trying to have a relationship and see if they'll eat out less.
I have been saying that for years just based on my own experience and had no idea it was scientifically proven, I just knew it worked.
This woman has reshaped my body and I love her for that. I have been exercising for almost 30 years; I am thin and fit but she really toned me up and made me stronger.

Just wanted to report that this worked for me too 😊🙌🏾
Omg thank you this worked for me! I ate 1700 cals mostly carbs for one day, then upped my normal cals by 100 for a week and I lost 2lbs!! 💜

@@gstefanos2792 cutting carbs isn’t realistic or healthy yes lowering it can improve burning fat and becoming more lean but completely!!!?? No
Thank you for this sensible advice.

I ate 2500-3000 calories for one day and then upped calories by 10-15% each time and I’m actually eating more calories now and losing more 👏🏼😍
Just have to be patient with it as it’s scary as you’ll see the scale go up for 2-3 days after the higher calorie day but don’t worry it is NOT fat it’s just water etc from the food and then your metabolism kicks back into gear and the weight dropped fast after that.
@@FruityLiana can you explain what you mean by upped your calories by 10-15% each time? Like, each plateau? Or each day after that first day?
@@FruityLiana It was very helpful, thank you!
How did it go? I am in a similar situation.
So I did this for four days, then went back to the gym and went back to eating 1500 calories a day and lost 2lbs after doing it for four days :)
Finally something helpful. Thank you.
so happy I found out about the plateau, I’ve been eating around 1500-1600 calories a day, decently healthy and drinking a gallon of water a day, and I’ve been more active, and I checked the scale today after about 2 weeks and I didn’t lose any weight well maybe 1 or 2 pounds but I’ve been stuck at 204-210 pounds for like 5 months this morning when I checked I was really sad but now I’m gaining hope and I hope this works 😁

I got so frustrated I broke my scale 😩
@@alicia2931 I know hiw that feels. This morning my scale went shooting up. And I got so sad lol! I need to stop with the sugar and salt.
Did it work?
Ms. Jillian, you make sense as always!! This vlog will get shared. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

What she is saying is absolutely correct and scientifically proven. You can take advice from this lady for sure.
Ive been nearly starving myself which isnt anything too bad but i plateaued only 16 kg short of my goal. I began taking your advice eating more calories and not go to the gym, and once i started going again i lift heavy weights increase the intensity of my cardio and i began dropping weight again. So heres the tip
Take the first week off of the gym and eat more calories then whats your deficit like Jill says.
Increase the intensity of your workout and change it up if its too easy. It works every single time
I think she should’ve played Sarah Connor in the Terminator Series!!!!
LOL YEAH
So.. you’re telling me i get a break for a week? Sweet!
I'm confused. Do you do 1 high calorie day and take 3 days off from gym or do you do 3 high calorie days and take 3 days off gym?
I have the same question
Lmao!! I did 3 high cals day and off gym.. like really shocking my body at high intensity. So getting back to the gym Tomorrow and I’m so excited …
It’s only been a week so I can’t say I already have results cuz you know it takes time…
I’d advise you if you really on a plateau to keep eating those two days and don’t exercise..
Did it work?
No, but thanks for askiing. I have now tried to add some weights, but the 3 day of eating & no exercise didn't work. I have tried so many YT ideas to break a plateau. But upping calories does not help me

Thank you Jillian ! You are brilliant!

Just 1 day super high or for the 3-5 of no gym?
Jill is freaking amazing

Jillian, eating the 2,000 calories is just for the one day right? 3 days no gym and only one day of big calories. Then add 10% more. Am I saying this right? Cause I tried getting 2,000 calories in today and it was HARD!
Update??? I ate high calories and gained 4 lbs. I ate high protein low sugar/carbs. Please give your advice???

I know this to be true, so thanks for explaining why this happens, when I was losing my 3 stone, I would worry everytime I would have a rare sweet treat, but I would always have a loss that week 👍
I followed this and 9 days later i dropped 3 pounds 😅 i have a question though, for how much longer should I sustain the 10% calorie increase and the higher intensity workouts? Until i reach my weight loss goal? Im afraid that at some point when my body adjusts ill start gaining weight again 😓

How long should We increase 10% of our calories intake?

How about 1000 cal deficit
