The band here is Doug Rowe (vocals/bass), James Wynne (guitar) & Colin Walker (drums). On the record is also Greg Grace on vocals & Warren Ward on bass they had both left at this point Ward was replaced by Terry Wilkins but obviously this was recorded while they were between bass players so Rowe is playing bass instead of his usual guitar.
Both La La and Hayride were written by Mac Gayden who also wrote Everlasting Love (#1 hit in the UK) and Rainbow Valley for The Love Affair. And get this.... Mac Gayden is also the guy who played that amazing quirky wah-wah guitar on JJ Cale's Crazy Mama, something I always thought JJ Cale himself did.
When I think of Bubblegum music I think of music like this. I have not heard this before and it's pretty good. The song I best know them for was from an old compilation LP from about 1970. I think the song was named Run, Run, Run.
Yes they were an excellent “ live” band with a lot more serious repertoire than Hayride and LaLa. I loved their covers of the Buffalo Springfield ; (Stephen Stills & Neil Young).
James Wynne played in Bathurst in the 90s with a band called Pig Iron Bob. He left the band and was replaced by Doug Rowe, who played with the band until his death. Proud to say I got to see them both perform many times, I was a huge fan of that band.
Doug and I were great friends from around the mid 80's and he was in my band in around 1988/89...I saw him not long before he passed away at a friends funeral...comossal talent and a beautiful man
Amazing that line got past the censor at that time. “Makin’ love in the hay...” In Hayride didnt in NZ from recollection. 🤔 Just hide your lyrics inside a jaunty melody line and trust your luck , hey? 😄
I just spent half the night trying to remember who sang the lyrics "Tippy toing around in the park trying to make sure your toy poodle don't fart..." That drummer looks so animated. Well actually all of them
Correct. I bought their first album (still have it, signed) for the bubblegum and stayed for the rest. Their country rock covers and originals are wonderful. I am still playing/singing many of the songs they covered, in their style. Including Let The Sunshine In.....not country rock, but the best version ever of this song!
Wow, I came hear to see Golden Miles by Healing Force and watch a few more and thought I hadn't heard this one might play it. Took me straight back to kindergarten days, I remembered the 1,2,3,4 bit straight away. Probably 50 years since I heard this.

There was a great joy in many of the sixties classics, a joy totally missing in the songs today
Yeah John, you remind me of my grandfather's same words: " Them useless Beatles, all they're good for is going Yeah, yeah, yeah! "
Use to see this group on a music show called UPTIGHT ON AUSTRALIAN T.V. every Saturday Morning
Yer they sure were glad u liked uptight like I did good on u
I remember that show
hosted by ROSS D WHYLIE.... still alive but confined to a wheelchair. Stay well
Great, youthful fun!!

Gosh and hasn’t Everlasting Love survived the decades and the generations? It has such an uplifting, optimistic vibe to it. 💕
We were so young then. Not a single ache or pain.

They Were A Good Band With A String Of Good Hits

String of good hits? HAHA!
Awesome bass line, melodic hook, plus puffy shirt.
Wow.. just found this song. I remember it from way back....
I love this song🎉❤
not only were we pain free, Max, we had freedom! less restrictions..less regulations.. no internet.. looking back , how sweet it was...
And no fear at home or out and about for most of the time.
Back then listening to it on a transistor radio or now 10 speaker surround sound straight off the internet any song you want or forgot.
Absolutely! Today is crap.
I don't think the populations young men and their families and friends would have considered conscription and dieing in Vietnam much freedom.
Love it. Great memories, i want to go back
Can I come with you Jelte Hanssen ? :)
Love it. Memorys sweet memorys
A bass guitarists dream? He's carrying the thing! Love it!!
The joke in this clip however is that Doug Rowe, bass playing here, was actually their lead guitarist. 😆
My everlasting love from GI
I was 5 when my babysitter gave this to me - I still love it
I still have their album
..great vocals, while playing that Ric.
R.I.P. Douglas John Rowe

Classic pop
Ah memories
Making love's better than the late late show. This is the first record I ever bought.

Great sing
Doug Rowe on bass?? A three piece, with just Colin Walker on drums and James Wynne?? Weird. Love this band and still have signed LP.
I think the lads liked to swap instruments round for the joke. 😉 Loved this band too. 🌹

BARK! "...toy poodle don't BARK..." !!! Hahahahahaaaaa - - - - genius.com/Flying-circus-la-la-lyrics
Your version was funnier, though.
😂😂😂
@@WJRHalyn-jw2ho well the guy who told me what it was has been dead for a long while now. Well played!
out of character if you've seen live a little later on. This got them airplay and some cash in a time when Australia needed some bubblegum of her own

👍👍👍👍👍👍Sound of the age( The Beatles, I think)

This is a shocker proof that not all 60s music is great there was shit back then too
Nonsense, this is a delightful song.
The drummer must have had to 'beat' the girls off.
" they suck !"
