@blinksurf provides incredible analysis and detail. Not just the typical board/fin review that is "oh yeah...this goes great everything from knee high to quadruple overhead and is best for beginner through to pro surfers..." 😄
Thanks for that, change the fins and you change the surfing sensation...whats best and whats worst is totally up to the individual....and what if the fin boxes are 1/4 inch forward or 1/4 inch back of where they are?..that changes the sensation....EVERYBODY is guessing...Sure the research is done according to a particular shaper, but he doesn't surf exactly like me or you...its all abstract, all surfboards work as do all fin configurations...surfing conditions and locations change as well....the whole DESIGN issue is every different shade of grey...lol...I appreciate your effort and observations, keep it coming....😀
So true. Thank you. As a non-pro surfer, my sensations may or may not be useful to others. Making these videos leads me to discover new things so that is enjoyable. 🙌
thanks for a very thorough review. I demo'd the version 2 on the new Too Fish and found them too stiff for my front footed style. Which is rather strange since I loved version 1 on the GoFish. I actually hated the GoFish until I put Robs Keels in them. They didn't work with the K2's and I didn't have any other fins to test. Anyways, it is an interesting point you make regarding more pivot fins on the board with ticker rails, the sjs example. This could explain the Too Fish issue since it is ticker and fishier than the GoFish. The worst part of fin selection is that I think I have it figured out and then a particular board throws it all off. LOL Glad I have kept all my fins, it at least allows me to switch it up and keep learning.
I never loved the K2, they felt too small for my bulk. Such a great point about keeping your fins because as you mentioned each board behaves differently! I've got a few hybrid twins now so I am comparing the best 8 in the next video and pairing them with the boards they work best in. Thanks for the support Thomye🙌
I would like to know the weight of the fins, i found some glass fins are so heavy you can notice it in small waves on a small board but like you say on a bigger heavier board and day it could be better.
I'm a 50 year old beginner intermediate that surfs for almost 8 years. I'm 5.9 and 77kg, i ride a firewire addvance 7'2 61.9 liters. I'm using the machado keel v1. My goal is to have a solid and easy drop and surf well down the line. Would you kindly tell me what should be the best keel for me?
@blinksurf yes it's a 5 fin setup. What you think about trying the Mikey February keels, or it will be almost the same as the machado that i own? And the true ames hobie? I really like the classic surfing and since they are big it could help to have an easy drop
@@Cif74 the big keels might be too much fin for your size and how far forward the boxes will be. A half keel might perform better. like a Captain Fin CC or the BMT
@blinksurf i bought the captain fin cc as per your suggestion and also David rastovich keels. So now i have these 2 and the machado keels. Would you kindly help to understand when should I use each?
Thanks for this. In summary V1 is really crap and V2 is still crap but slightly better than v2. My hypothesis is…get something else 😂. @blinksurf you should try a Twinzer fin surfboard, either True Ames twinzer (Futures) and or the Panda Twinzer fins (FCS2).
great review. I have tried these fins, too, and haven't been impressed by them. definitely not very lively...and not as drivey as some other keel fins. maybe the best of both worlds actually = worst of both...? :)
Oh that's really cool validation for me thank you for sharing this. Yeah, there are better fins out there. I'll continue to share my finds as they come through. Once you get the best fins the ordinary ones don't do it anymore.
This is the best fin review video I've ever seen. Congrats.
Thank you. I really appreciate that feedback.

Mickey February Twins Captain Fin are the best. Have the best of both worlds. A mix from an Up right fin and a regular keel. Just perfect
They have been a wonderful fin!!! I love them. 🙌
I just ride T1's in my 5'2 too fish. It surfs like a short board and I can actually turn the board hard unlike with keel fins.
That sounds nice and balanced. Asher Pacey seems to be able to do that as well. I'm quite heavy so I do notice sliding on those small fins.
Great review. Would love to know how these compare to the Rasta quad set
You and me both! I di have the RASTA Keels - check the difference instagram.com/p/C7YycASyep4/?img_index=1
NVS Kraken Volan flex with my thunderbolt 6’8 Sunday, is the best setup I’ve ridden below head high..Not sure once above that though…V2 or CC’s?..
the Kraken are smaller and stiffer so I'd stick with them for heavier waves. They should be amazing.

Too Fish Keels are 213g. I'll add weights in new videos thanks for the suggestion.

If your board is a five fin setup them BMT would be ok for you as twins. You wont need keels

@@Cif74 The Rastovich for small and fun waves, the CC for good powerful waves. Thats how I would use them.
Use the machado keels in the seaside
I'll try it

You nailed it! - I have some Ryan Lovelace Twinzer fins to try. I am in for surfing twinzers
