From Firewire x Rob Machado
An evolution of Rob's popular "Go Fish' model from 2017, updated with lessons he learned from the Seaside, this all new Too Fish model is built in Firewire Surfboards Helium Technology for light and lively response underfoot with significant durability improvements above other surfboard building methods given the use of aerospace deck skins on the top and bottom of the board, as well as a rail comprised of paulownia and balsa wood for controlled flex and rebound in turns.
Rob says that the Too Fish is :
"My favourite in small and weak waves because of how thick and floaty it is in the forward two thirds of the board, but this shape is also thinned out aggressively in the tail to enable hold in powerful waves. I've ridden the Too Fish in everything from overhead waves on the North Shore to perfect days on the reef at home, and also the weakest most disorganised junk surf at the beach break in front of my house. This is my favourite board for all conditions."

Wooly. You put a pad on a fish? Thats a sin brother.
@@newoization had one on it when I got it from Firewire 😝. But I have pads on all boards except once they get over 6’8”. Nothing worse than slipping off the back foot and banging into a big swallow tail. You will see from my amazing dress sense that I’m more about function than fashion ⚡️
@@WoolyTV lol
@@WoolyTV yeh ive seen your surfing hat. Lol. Youre a cool bloke wooly
Loving the jazz flute
@@sz8558 🎵
that was such a good video. Cheers mate crushed it very much needed Wooly🦾
@@Outdoorswiththeboyz thanks 🙏
The sea side is a fun board but Firewire has to solve the dreadful yellowing problem that starts about 4 or 5 months in. It looks horrible and makes it impossible to re sell it. After shelling out $1100 I would expect better. Won't be buying another one anytime soon.
Great surfing once again mate!
Thanks! Go the Volcanic construction, no discolouring at all and super strong.
Ive got a 5'5. Paddles perfectly under my middle aged 80 kgs :) Feels just right. That drone footage was mint - more of that, please! Looked so damn good on the lefts. Machadocado next!? :)
Yeah its on its way for me......
@@WoolyTVwhat size machadocado are you going to run? I’m your size and got the 5’8”. Really like it but it’s very wide. So went down to 5’6” and it goes extremely well.
Really great surfing on the lefts..not easy to get around those sections so smoothly on your backhand on a twinnie🤙
🤙 Yeah the super thinned out tail really helps with the hold.
Wow Wooly love the soundtrack! Also you make look so easy bro! Love your style!
@@Robertjohnsonbass 🙏
Love mine, I’ve got the 6’0, i use the BMT twins which I found loosen it up more in small waves, I found Machado keels a bit stiff. Perfect summer board.
I only rode this one with those fins but it felt good to me, with my big frame.
Hey what’s your dims, wanting to get a 5’11 but I’m 97kgs
I’m 6ft and 93kgs surf in UK so waves are generally weaker, the 6’0 is perfect for me.
Love brah love your vids please keep doing great vids I know it’s hard work brother
@@justking5257 thanks brah 🙏
looked great on your backhand
@@jameswitty283 yeah held well on the backhand
Brah you always making the most fun with it 💯. I wished you stalled that left hand break and got some head dipping barrels. She was holding up nice with this off shore conditions. Goofy footers dream.
Any how, I think you ripped and groveled harder on the Sweet Potato in my Opinion. Bummer! I was planning on getting this fish one day. I already have the Sweet Potato in a 5’2. I only surfed it twice. Ever since getting my Machadocado. That’s my everyday performancey groveler. Can’t wait to see you batter that guacamole 🥑 Your gonna dig it brother. She Rips 🤙🏽 Aloha from Oahu Hawaii Big Dawg 🙏🏽🏄🏻♂️🤙🏽😎🏄🏻♂️🏝️
@@JM-pf5qc yeah I think the SP is much better in the super small stuff but the Too Fish did have a great feel on waves around shoulder/chest high 👌. Machadocado will be done sometime in the next few months
🙏🏽 Aloha 🌎✊🏽😎
@@JM-pf5qc Mahalo 🙏
Hey Wooly nice review! Interested in your comparison between the Too Fish and the SeaSide and JS Flame Fish for smaller gutless waves? Also keen for you to review the MachadoCado and compare it to the SeaSide and the JS Flame Fish. Yewww!
Thanks. Sorry Ive never ridden a Seaside! The Too Fish is really different to the Flame Fish, full twin feel and glide. FF is more like a scaled down performance board.
Nice review Wooly 🤙.
Thanks 👍
I keep replaying this video over and over and OVER AGAIN. I really wanted to buy the Too Fish. But I gotta ask you the Million Dollar Question?
If you could only BUY ONE BOARD BETWEEN THE TWO ?
- Sweet Potato in your previous board review
OR
- Too Fish
@@JM-pf5qc easy
SP if you want to surf waist high and below or super weak waves.
TF if the waves are a bit more quality
Mahalo so much Wooly 🙏🏽 Aloha always Bradda Until the Next 🤙🏽
@@JM-pf5qc 🤙
Slid like soap.. ultra smooth 😎
Yep was a fun board!
How are you the only one out! So jealous 😂
That beach break is a long way from anywhere.........
Would you rather surf the sweet potato 2.0 or too fish on small waves ?
@@Belva1989 on really small waves I think I would be on the Sweet Potato
Any plans to review the Aipa Big boy sting, or the Wrecking ball? Asking for a friend 😉
@@Sethieguy not on the cards at this stage.
@@WoolyTV understood, I’d love to see it, especially the wrecking ball with how radical of a design it is.
Keep up the awesome work!! 🤙🏻
Did you end up trying upright fins on this board?
Thanks for the great review.
When the golden child review coming out?
Its the next one to drop.
Jazz flute! 😀🤙
I feel like the music really suited this one....
Great video as always!! I'm into that board but I'm not sure about choosing the right size, I'm 5'9 50 yo 75 kg intermediate level living in Italy where the waves are usually weak. Can you give me any suggestions pls?? Thank you in advance 🤙🏽🤙🏽
Hi mate
What is your current board? Model. length and size?
@@WoolyTV Hey mate, I have a 6'4 mid length design board in 40L that I use in weaker summer waves here near Rome, I had a dhd mini twin 2 in 5'5 30L that I recently sold because it felt too small....So now I'm looking for a new fish with more volume....🐬
@@andreabordoni2665 I would probably look at the 5’7” or even the 5’8”
@@WoolyTV Okk thank you for your advice 🤙🏽🤙🏽🌊🐬
@@andreabordoni2665 🤙
This left and the music what a sesh! Is this WA?
Yeah mate WA
How do you think this shape would go in the volcanic construction?
What's your General thoughts on the volcanic vs helium?
I like the Volcanic construction but it is stiffer than the Helium. Stronger, stiffer and wont discolour as easily.
@WoolyTV too stiff for small wave boards? Eg, too fish or seaside?
Looking to get one! Just not sure if it will lose that epoxy spring being too stiff in small waves ?
@@jasonjohnson2921 Defiantly stiffer than the Helium and heavier. Maybe stick to Helium if you want a grovel board
Hi Wooly,
Are you rather Too Fish or Red Baron please?
Yewww
@@FloDvl I liked both but the Too Fish has more hold.
we want mini longboards - 38-40L - not a funboard - a longboard shape made smaller - not as wide as funboard actually when you account for shrinking sides as well in proportion to length.
It's the new craze btw - haven't you heard yet??? Something Tudor would ride when not riding longboards. It would be pretty thin actually as compared to funboard. narrow tail (pin), wide nose - for cruising mostly
@@jeffg4686 check out the Boss Up.
@@WoolyTV - I like it - thx - don't like the fin setup though. Would have gone with standard thruster
I'd love to know where that left point is 🙃
It’s a looooong way from anywhere in West Oz.
you surf like the heavier version of Rob ❤
@@krishtayable I will take that as a compliment 😝
@@WoolyTVBlob Machardo. 😅😅😅Sorry I couldn't help it.
Boss up by firewire please Wooly
@@bob33932 I’m just waiting on mine to arrive
I must have learned something after watching all your movies (yes I’m just a lowly beginner ^_^); you definitely look better on a curvier high performance board! BTW are you (and your butt) channeling Machado at one point?😁
@@Canaryisland1 I don’t ride boards like this all that often. Most of my surfing is done on standard short boards
Too fish or flame fish to grovel?
@@MikeOno-h8d I actually enjoyed the Too Fish when it got to about shoulder high and better quality. I would look at the Sweet Potato 2 or the Flame Fish for a full grovel board.
Yeew 🤙🏼1
@@trotts1885 🤙🤙
Wooly on a fish? What's next?
Funnier things have happened......... high performance board next :)
@WoolyTV what's next it's the Machado Cado baby 😊
