You're crossing your eyes too strongly. Takes some practice to relax them just enough and then hold that position. There are some nifty 3D images online (called "magic eye") that you may be familiar with, which are very good for practice.
All the more eerie because there was but a single light source. (It looks like two candles, but that's a special effect ... the candles were doubled in post-production.)
Well this does have a "necro-vibe" indeed. I've been digging a bit into Hermes Trismegistus and the shadow aspect of the human personality according with the egyptian lore. There seems to be more than meets the eye in the shadows. Nice vid.
Thank you, good sir! Speaking of Egyptian lore, just in case you're not already familiar, I strongly recommend the astonishing novel /Ancient Evenings/ by Norman Mailer. Spoiler (if the novel is new to you): I woke up one morning with the main point of Ancient Evenings ringing in my head. It's a point that Mailer does not state explicitly. The reader has to pair what we learn in the final chapter with what happens in the first chapter. In the final chapter, we learn that a thousand years have passed since Mennenhetet II’s death. In the first chapter, his Ka is coming into self-awareness. When we unite the alpha and omega chapters, we must realize that WE, as readers, are bringing life to the Ka. The stories and the spirit(s) of ancient Egypt are only dead as long as they are forgotten. I absolutely ADORE Mailer's beautiful touch of having the reader of his book literally bring his characters to life.
@@ProfessorOddfellow Yes I agree with your point. When we recreate that ancient knowledge with our own consciousness it comes back to life. That's why we can say that Paracelsus was Hermes or even ourselves for that matter. I haven't read that novel but you sparked my interest, gotta search for it. There's some similarities with Imhotep of whom it is said that could unite with his Ka while still alive, I wonder if that's what we are doing when practicing lucid dreaming/o.o.b.e.s? There's even a painting from Laffoley (On Becoming A Shadow) that explicitly states that intention, I don't know if it doubles as a psychotronic device for I haven't used it in that fashion. By the way do you have a favorite painting by that artist?
@@olm7080 Thanks for the great follow-up! Speaking of Imhotep, I had just encountered a reference to the preparatory rites of Egyptian dream incubation sanctuaries. Concerning favorites of Laffoley's "The Visionary Point" surely ranks high. :-)
@@ProfessorOddfellow That's great! It sounds like a cool idea for a video if you are able to adapt that reference somehow to digital media just like you did with this "Psychomanteum Experience". Have a great night!
As the old, wise saying goes, "Forewarned is forearmed." That's the blessing of seemingly negative predictions - they can help us sidestep the possible or probable pitfalls that would have ensnared us had we been unprepared.
You might be crossing them with too much strength. It takes practice to control your eye muscles to cross gently. One technique is to hold a finger at arm's length and then gradually pull the finger closer to your face. Your eyes will be crossing from just a little to a lot as the finger comes closer.
In my own browser, I can shrink the magnification of the window and make everything on the page smaller. On my Apple laptop, it's the Command key in conjunction with the minus sign key. That brings the candles to whatever size works best for my vision.
Curses up on UA-cam! That comment was for a previous video but you auto-moved me to this one. AARRGGHHH. Now I look like not just a fool, but a crank as well.
The auto-play function has many drawbacks, and this is one of them. This phenomenon you detected, of how a comment for one video can get accidentally carried over to another video, might explain the occasional head-scratching comments -- they're technically for other, unknown contexts.
Nope. With 3dimensional objects I can make an imaginary one in the middle of the two real ones by crossing my eyes. Not on the screen, I start seeing two screens
Finding the right distance from the computer screen and training the right eye muscles can make it challenge. Holding the eyes in a slightly crossed position is the ultimate goal for this experience. Thanks for trying, at least. :-)
I've been managing to make the left candle disappear for a few seconds but still having hard time to fully make it disappear Edit:I've been managing to do the same in the right but still having hard time to get the left and right to fully disappear
When I cross my eyes, there are 3 candles. I cannot make them into one no matter what I do.
The middle candle is the crucial one, as it's comprised of the left and right. Ignore the other two. And thanks for watching, by the way!
I'm doing something wrong because I see 4.

I'm digging the dual shadows behind you in the intro.

@@ProfessorOddfellow Spoiler alert! I thought you were using Rockette Candles that were supernaturally synchronized.

This was trippy my brain auto focused on the center candle
I manage to see 1 candle for few secs but yeah it's hard but putting your fingers or thumb would be easy
I swear I saw somany bad things at once I can't tell you what I saw but I feel as if bad possibilities in my life all at once

I can’t see when I cross my eyes 😭 guess I can’t do this experiment

My first try, I saw one the second three and the third I saw four this is so cool I love you bro
🤪🤩🙃 Thank you!
😱😱😱
I managed to get 4 candles. But cent seem to get 1
who tried it?
I can’t cross my eyes and mane the candles one. They’re waaaay too far apart.

Is this just a coincidence, or a response to the six banned Dr. Seuss books that have been in the news lately?
I actually recorded this a few weeks ago. Synchronicities seem to find their own way!

@@ProfessorOddfellow thank you, but I am too lazy. I think I'll keep using my traditional psychomanteum with the mirror.
Yes, the old ways tend to be the better ways, in my experience. :-)

Crossed eyes mean that each eye points toward the nose.
