I am so glad I found the Lovecrafts website for yarn and other crochet and knitting products. They always have a sale on some yarn up to 75% off. The Red Heart soft baby steps yarn on this video is only £1.99 per 100g ball. Just amazing as this is super soft baby yarn. They have many other brands too. Cheaper than I have seen them elsewhere.

I just love this stitch. This looks not only easy to create but the result makes a beautiful finished fabric. I am going to make a summer top using this technique. I wanted a light stretch on a top but not something that is to see through. Hope it works out for me.
Try it with 2 chain that will give a smaller mesh. Sounds fab, Barbara xxx

Another great video!!!!
Is Alison your mum Zak?
Yes i think he is. Your mum is a very talented lady, Zak
Thank you Zak, yes folks Zak is my son xxxx
Towards the end of the video you went out of focus and I could not see which space you were putting the yarn in. You were doing chain 3 and then putting the yarn into the space but which space?
The loop you work into the loops.
Good video for beginners I am trying to get a job with WRVS doing charity work I am working voluntarily, unpaid I am doing charity work for woman and families I am making baby blankets and baby clothes and children,s clothes I am donating the baby blankets and clothes to the charity shops and the hospitals I am going to a knitting and crochet class
That's, wonderful, Josephine. You are so kind to do those things for other people. I am sure they appreciate your help. I did 3 years unpaid charity work in a shop in or town for Marie Curie cancer care, I enjoyed it so much meeting new people and doing what I could to help. Thank you so much for supporting my channel I truly appreciate it.

You're welcome!
Beautiful work Alison I love all your tutorials they are so easy to follow and you continually remind us what stitch we are doing, thank you, at the moment I am half way through 2 of your blankets and love them both, will definitely try this one once I get the other 2 out of the way, another month and it will be winter here in Australia so my hook is staring to get hot now with all the work I am putting it through, you take care and keep extra well and thanks a mil from Australia.
WE are in summer if you can call it that, With the lockdown there is certainly a diffrence in the weather though, and air is amazing. The heat is better for my joints so I am out crochet in the sun whenever I get the chance. I am lucky to have a garden for muttley to run around in, hes been peeing on a lot of my plants so some are dead hahahah oh well life goes on xxxx
I love it. Pretty.VA.
Thank you! 😊
I love the bottom edge on this piece. I did however find it hard to follow you at end of row and turning for next row. Hence my edges are wonky. :(
I really like how you did the bottom edging, so many times my starting chain ends up being to loose or too tight than the rest of the body part. I was crocheting along with you and did make some early mistakes at the sides, not getting into the chain 2 space so I used markers at each end so I would get in the proper spot and it worked out wonderful for me then. I plan on making a nice wrap for myself first, then I will be making more for others. Thanks.
Fantastic and thank you for sharing your tips xxx
I like this pattern thank you, if I want to add an i inch border before starting the second row in your pattern what should I do
I love your work 🌹
Thank you so much 😀
Hi, Alison. My name is Gary from NYC. I am a very new crocheter and a new subscriber to your channel. I had just learned how to crochet two weeks after the lockdown here and after I did all my carpentry and plumbing works at home. Thank you for this tutorial. I will definitely make a blanket for my wife and children. You are such a wonderful teacher. Keep up the excellent work and more power to you!
Thanks for subbing and thanks for watching my channel, If your kids are old enough teach them and your wife too. Its a great pastime.
Hi Alison
Just to say I've subscribed .....I can't join more than 2 as I won't get any crochet done!!...as I really like your videos as I knit blankets and hats for patients in a dementia ward in our local hospital. They like bright colours and not to thick blankets so a lot of your stitches are brilliant for my projects. Am fairly new to crochet and find you so clear and informative...so thanks.
Thank you very much Sue, My father was in a dementa ward for many years and I know how much your donations are appreciated Thank you xxx
Loved the pattern but when you were crocheting it was below camera and couldn't really see your work. Thank you
Thats interesting pattern.
Thank you
Thank you for a great easy stitch. Where is your asce
Beautiful 👌👌👌👌👌
Thank you so much
Hi, im not sure if youf still here. Fab video! Can i ask on the row before the last to do the top the same as the bottom, did youchain then turn or turn then chain please x
chain then turn or you can turn then chain either way is fine
@@AlisonRussellsCrochetChannel Thank you so much. Such a beautiful pattern x
Fantastic tut. Now with this stitch/pattern does it matter what size hook is being used?
No it dosn't if you use the hook your yarn label says BUT lots of times I use what ever hook I like. ha ha ha If it dosn't look right I just change the hook and start again but this mesh is great with any size hook or yarn.
Alison Russell's Craft Channel thanks
I love this stitch. It sure does make a beautiful blanket. I just subscribed. ☺️🙏🏻
Thanks and welcome
If I wanted to put a different colour edging, would I just start off with a chain then a row of double crochets? Then for the edging do as the final row?
Yes, that should work fine.
Hi Alison! Hope all is well. I have a question. When you complete a row are you performing a slip stitch “in” the chain 2 stitch from the prior row or are you performing a slip stitch into the prior slip stitch loop end that you created prior, just before the chain 3?
into the chain 2 stitch (the loop) because you cant go into the stitch as the are off line like arches stcked together to build a wall. your rows are staggerd. If you know what I mean.
Thanks Alison!
❤️
Thank you for watching my channel
I have a question, please. Is it possible to do this pattern to get a round product?
Greetings, Thank you for sharng and teaching how to mke he beautifully crochet blanket. As a beginner, I got through the first row with your instructions, but the slip stitches at the end were demonsrated too fast and I couldn't see clearly where to insert my hook and your hands went out of he camera range at times. Go a bit slower for us true beginners :) I will keep giving his blanket stitch a go. Most appreciative and thank you again for sharing it. It truly is pretty!
you slip stitch into the first loop, chain 3 and slip stitch into the next loop. and so on. thats all there is to it xxx if you need any help at all just ask. I will help you xx
Would this stitch be good for a baby blanket?
Im doing a cot size following Alison's tutorial and its looking beautiful in pink
Thank you for watching my channel
I need help please. Though I've watched and rewatched the video 4 times now, my 3rd rows and beyond end up longer than the first two. I have no idea where I am going wrong and have repeatedly unraveled 5+ rows. I especially watch where the row ends, the two chains, etc. Any suggestions?
pit a marker on the end of each row this will stop you adding stitches so it wont grow longer it sounds like your adding extra chains and loops at the ends (increasing the rows)
Do u have a video for how to end or put a border on the blanket
Joanne, I was thinking that, But the problem would be if everyones blankets are diffrent sizes how can I tell them how many stitches to pick up. My daughter and sister said that wouldn't matter as people will work around that. What do you think?
I think anything that show how u finished would be helpful. Thanks.
How many ball of yarn for a blanket throw???
I don't know how big you want it 5 or 6 balls will make a big big throw 600g
Can't see wat you are doing, on the end of the rows, exactly what stitch are you suppose to end a row in
Is there a place for the written pattern for the blanket
no I didn't writ it out
Is there a written pattern? I’m so confused is it a chain 3 at the end of the row chain 2? And on the 1st row you didn’t go to the end technically to make the edge come even
if you go to the end every row your blanket will grow out the way ( wider) as you will keep chain and crochet into that last one. I did that when I was working out how to keep it straight its chain 2 at the beginning of every row then chain 3 as you work along. Imagine Its like a stack of wooden arches, you will always have every 2nd row in a little bit at either side The small chain 2 keeps it straight I will do a picture and post it on the community page here on my channel. If you go to the home page and look along the top for the community page.
Can I use 6 mm hook
Yes if you like too. You can use any hook you like its up to you, enjoy your crochet and experiment with hooks and yarns thats what makes it fun xx
How many grams of wool did u use
It will depend on the size of blanket your making I got a large pram size with just 1 ball of 100g this stitch has a little streach so it get large quite quick.
@@AlisonRussellsCrochetChannel ok thank u alison i enjoy ur tutorials so much thank u stay safe
Is there a written pattern? I’m getting confused too.
I can't write patterns out its basically chan 2 at beginning of each row and slip stitch into the loop. it should be like this nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn
nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn
nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn
but all sitting on top of each other like a stack
You seem to go off camera at the bottom.
Hi are you Scottish?
Yes, Caroline I am
Hi Alison don't know if you still have my email address to contact me but phoned my home bargains by me
The baby wool they have in is pink, blue, lemon, and grey , and have said if I call with how Many of each colour you need they will put it up for me to go and pick up so do you want any getting and sending to you ? It's about a 5min drive away if that so happy to go and get it for you x sorry but I don't have face book account
Thank you so much for trying to help Sylvia, my daughter told me to make up an order on Marriner yarns, they do it £1 a ball and have a bigger choice and she paid for it which was good of her. Once again Thank you so much for trying to help xxx
Your welcome xxx do you have a post box mail address that I could send you the Angel I have made you
You have to many colors that I like?
ha ha not any more I am running out fast. So many online places are sold out it's getting difficult to get yarn
