I LOVE that you donate to "Project Linus". It's an amazing organization. I've been crocheting blankets for our local satellite chapter in our small Arizona mountain community for 5 years. In 2023 we donated about 1200 blankets to various groups from fire departments, hospital, shelters, a Navajo reservation and many others.
1200?!?! WOW! That is so great! I have just started donating to Project Linus and I was excited to find them. Last year I donated about 80 hats to my local mission. I "cheated" and used a knitting machine for many of them but mixed with some crocheted. 😊

I’m in the suburb of a very large US city, and they said to drop them off at stores like Michael’s, I think, or maybe it was Joanns … it just seems so … hmm what am I looking for? “Yeah, Whatever” type of attitude, which greatly surprised me.

Starting with the scalloped edge made all the difference with this pattern as the original started with a long chain, then work the afghan, then go BACK and add the edge. I wasn't sure it would even work starting with the scalloped edge but it did!!
This is the same exact pattern that is my go to! I’ve always detested the starting part so I started working on both sides of the starting chain. Certainly going to give this one a go!!
With the original pattern, it started with a chain. You would work the whole afghan then go back and add a scallop on that one end. My first couple of projects are made like that. But I just knew there was an easier way! Enjoy!

You're welcome! I have some friends that work at veterinarian clinics and they love crocheted afghans for the dogs because they are less likely to chew on them! I have a small cat rescue here at my home (I have 12 cats, 3 dogs and tortoise as well as local wildlife!) and the cats LOVE the blankets!

That pattern works up easily and beautifully, I had a hard time putting it down last night.

You're going to love it. And you'll be shocked at how fast it works up. It can be a bit lacy but they are very sturdy, too. I have 2 adult sized blankets that I made decades ago and they are still so great! Enjoy!!

Those types of patterns are my fave, where every row is different...especially I many colors are used. Solid colors are great but my faves are the things screaming with color!

At last, a baby blanket that doesn't start with a long string of chains. I find them very fiddly, and almost unmanageable,not to mention hard to get the right number!
With me, I love this pattern for the simple fact that I can skip the border step. When it's done, it's done. Not that borders are bad. They look great on most projects. But to not have that step is a win in my book!

Your first row is Genius! A variation of this pattern has been my go-to pattern for years but then I always had to add a border to the bottom of the blanket but it never looked like 22:46 the sides and top. Can’t wait to try this. Thank you for sharing.

So, you end your "segments" with a double crochet. When you start the second row, insert your hook in the very last "spot" at the end of those double crochets. It's not really a stitch...but the end of the double crochet stitch. It makes a natural little hole that you can insert your hook into. I hope that helps!! It's a little challenging to explain and I am sorry that I didn't make that clearer in the video.
I had that same pattern, but really gently lost it. I've done a couple baby blankets with it. However, I remember the pattern being 2 dc, 3 ch. 1sc. I like your way better because you can see the pattern better. Maybs it's just that I am using yarn with color swatches throughout (can't remember brand, but color is 'circus' - white yarn with what feels like paint splashes of red, yellow, blue and green). My next blanket will be the 1dc, 2ch, 1sc pattern. Either way, it is fast and easy, and I love it.Thanks for the video.
The only reason I knew it was 2dc, ch 2, 1 sc was from an afghan I still have from the late 80's. I didn't have the pattern but I could see the pattern in the afghan.

Hi. Change colors at the end of the row before the chain 2 at the end. I either do the double knot method or I have also just tired the new and old yarn together and woven in the ends. Then chain 2, turn, and carry on. I hope that helps!

Is it possible to start this stitch w out the scalloped edge? Do I just start w a chain and then the 2nd row? I’m looking for a pattern to add variety to an afghan made of squares. My first square is the moss stitch. I’m hoping this will compliment that stitch. Hmm, just realizing the sides are scalloped too. (Love this pattern … I’ll start using it for baby blankets.)
Yes, you can start this with a long chain then start the pattern the 3rd chain from your hook. But...you'd end up with 3 scalloped edges and one straight edge which I suppose would be fine. That sounds like a really fun afghan you are making!
Look at my video for Crochet Flower Headband. If you follow that but only do the amount of starting segments for a baby, that might get you started if you are a more advanced crocheter. But I will put it on the list of projects to do. Thanks for the idea!!

Hi. After you 2 dc, ch 2, sc in the last space, you simply chain 2 and turn. Once you turn, that chain 2 is your first dc for that row. I hope that makes sense and I am sorry if I wasn't clear about that.
Can you do this in the round like the granny or wagon wheel so you don't have to guess the width n length and not play yarn chicken? My sweaters n blankies go to a pregnancy ctr.
A pregnancy center?!?! What a great idea! I never thought of that. And I am not sure if it can be done in the round because the ease of it comes when you turn the project to work the other direction. So I think to do it in the round, you'd have to still turn each round. Hope that makes sense.

Is there any way you can make another video but more slowed down for beginners and showed where exactly to put the hook into? Hi. It's kind of a open stitch, kind of a space at the end of the DC. It's not an actual stitch because it's the end of a stitch, but anywhere in that area is fine as long as you repeat the same place all the way across. Hope that helps!

Hello. I am not exactly sure how much yarn because the amount would be specific to your project size. I used acrylic baby yarn (I think it was Bernat brand) and I believe it took 2 skeins, maybe part of a 3rd skein. Hope that helps.

I am sorry. I just got a new camera and I am still learning about it. After row 2, you don't go into any stitches. You 2 DC, CH 2, 1SC in the chain 2 spaces of the previous row. I hope that helps.
Hi. I used an H hook for this (not sure of the mm size if you are European) but you can use whatever hook works with the yarn you choose and how loose or tight you crochet. It's very versatile!

Thanks so much for sharing, My 1st.blanket came out great,but the starter edge is curling up,so my 2nd blanket I did 4ch,2dc,and it's a fuller cluster and not curling up.😊this is my new favorite pattern thanks again

Your first row is Genius! A variation of this pattern has been my go-to pattern for years but then I always had to add a border to the bottom of the blanket but it never looked like 22:46 the sides and top. Can’t wait to try this. Thank you for sharing.

So, you end your "segments" with a double crochet. When you start the second row, insert your hook in the very last "spot" at the end of those double crochets. It's not really a stitch...but the end of the double crochet stitch. It makes a natural little hole that you can insert your hook into. I hope that helps!! It's a little challenging to explain and I am sorry that I didn't make that clearer in the video.

I had that same pattern, but really gently lost it. I've done a couple baby blankets with it. However, I remember the pattern being 2 dc, 3 ch. 1sc. I like your way better because you can see the pattern better. Maybs it's just that I am using yarn with color swatches throughout (can't remember brand, but color is 'circus' - white yarn with what feels like paint splashes of red, yellow, blue and green). My next blanket will be the 1dc, 2ch, 1sc pattern. Either way, it is fast and easy, and I love it.Thanks for the video.
The only reason I knew it was 2dc, ch 2, 1 sc was from an afghan I still have from the late 80's. I didn't have the pattern but I could see the pattern in the afghan.

Hi! For my project I started with 35 segments or scallops. The 35th one actually ends up on the side so your last row will be 34 segments. 😃

Hi. Change colors at the end of the row before the chain 2 at the end. I either do the double knot method or I have also just tired the new and old yarn together and woven in the ends. Then chain 2, turn, and carry on. I hope that helps!

The second row is a little different than the third so it would be a third row repeat but yes! Super simple!!

Is it possible to start this stitch w out the scalloped edge? Do I just start w a chain and then the 2nd row? I’m looking for a pattern to add variety to an afghan made of squares. My first square is the moss stitch. I’m hoping this will compliment that stitch. Hmm, just realizing the sides are scalloped too. (Love this pattern … I’ll start using it for baby blankets.)
Yes, you can start this with a long chain then start the pattern the 3rd chain from your hook. But...you'd end up with 3 scalloped edges and one straight edge which I suppose would be fine. That sounds like a really fun afghan you are making!

Look at my video for Crochet Flower Headband. If you follow that but only do the amount of starting segments for a baby, that might get you started if you are a more advanced crocheter. But I will put it on the list of projects to do. Thanks for the idea!!

Hi. After you 2 dc, ch 2, sc in the last space, you simply chain 2 and turn. Once you turn, that chain 2 is your first dc for that row. I hope that makes sense and I am sorry if I wasn't clear about that.

Can you do this in the round like the granny or wagon wheel so you don't have to guess the width n length and not play yarn chicken? My sweaters n blankies go to a pregnancy ctr.
A pregnancy center?!?! What a great idea! I never thought of that. And I am not sure if it can be done in the round because the ease of it comes when you turn the project to work the other direction. So I think to do it in the round, you'd have to still turn each round. Hope that makes sense.
Hi I love this pattern but I’m knew to crocheting and it’s very hard for me to follow along. Is there any way you can make another video but more slowed down for beginners and showed where exactly to put the hook into? I’ve tried making this 3 times now and have to pull it apart each time because it just doesn’t look like yours. I would appreciate it tremendously.

The beginning row or the second row? The beginning row is Chain 4 then DC in the 1st chain and repeat until you get the width you want. The second row starts with a Chain 3, 1 DC, Chain 2, the 1 sc in the 1st DC from the previous row. I hope that makes sense.

Hi. It's kind of a open stitch, kind of a space at the end of the DC. It's not an actual stitch because it's the end of a stitch, but anywhere in that area is fine as long as you repeat the same place all the way across. Hope that helps!

What yarn weight did you use for this video?
I used regular baby yarn. I think it was Jamie by Lion Brand.
How much yarn is needed , and of what weight ?
Also, the crocheting is too far away from the camera to see correctly.
Hello. I am not exactly sure how much yarn because the amount would be specific to your project size. I used acrylic baby yarn (I think it was Bernat brand) and I believe it took 2 skeins, maybe part of a 3rd skein. Hope that helps.

I used an H hook. But you can use the size hook that works with the yarn you choose. 😊

this is the Paris stitch. I am making several things with it right now, but your bottom border is the first I’ve seen and I love it.

I am sorry. I just got a new camera and I am still learning about it. After row 2, you don't go into any stitches. You 2 DC, CH 2, 1SC in the chain 2 spaces of the previous row. I hope that helps.
What size hook
Hi. I used an H hook for this (not sure of the mm size if you are European) but you can use whatever hook works with the yarn you choose and how loose or tight you crochet. It's very versatile!
