I never really thought of Matt's doctor as a big child. I always saw him more as a Labrador Retriever puppy. A bit awkward and clumsy, lovable, and knocking everything off the coffee table to get the ball
This was the season that got me back in Dr Who in a big way, I remember being upset when DT left and I wasn’t really feeling season 5 but 6 was so ambitious and really kept you guessing I hope you love it too, your reactions are precious- have a wonderful time
Me and my brother watched this episode when it premiered, and I remember the expression on his face when the Doctor died. He was like "wait he's regenerating, so he'll be fine," then ZAP. Hit home for him once they burned his body that he was indeed dead, Lol. What a start to the season, and we have a new mystery
I fear I felt the same way when I saw the pyre! But there has to be some way to save Matt Smith’s Doctor if he sent those envelopes, it’s made me hopeful anyway🤣 So many questions already, I am loving the mystery!😄
It took me years before I realised that Amy was actually facing away from the astronaut when she moved to shoot it, so she didn't realise it was a little girl before it was too late and she'd already pulled the trigger; hence her cry of anguis at the end, as it was only then that she realised what she'd done.
This was an amazing episode. I remember when they were filming in the US. A group of us fans calling themselves the crimson cloak (a take of Wilf’s group, the silver cloak, hunting down the doctor in The End of Time) did digging and found out the secret shooting locations so fans showed up to watch. I was alive when Nixon was president and remember how his taping of everything in the office brought him down in the Watergate crisis. The actor did a good Nixon! I remember watching the moon landing and all the excitement leading up to it. I was nine years old. That’s probably one reason this two parter is one of my favorites. So many good things in this one. Call back to Silence in the Library where River looked into his eyes and he didn’t know who he was. And she did die (even if her consciousness was uploaded to the library). This is one of the few two parters I’ve seen on TV where the final part was better than the first part.
Sorry, bit of a late reply🙈 I’m happy they filmed on location! I mean it looked like America, but you never know🤣 Omg I love that! It’s such a unique name tying in with the show, props to whoever came up with it😄 Did you go to watch the filming? That must have been an interesting period to live through!🤣 Wow! You watched the moon landing when it happened!? Amazing! I can’t even begin to imagine how big an event that must have been. What was the lead up like? Ok, so she definitely died, thanks for the clarity and it makes looking back to that episode so much sadder. Great episode😄
Glad no one spoiled that this was coming. The reactions are always better when they don't know for sure for sure Smith isn't done yet in the moment. I'm surprised you didn't visibly react to River saying it will kill her when the doctor doesn't recognize her. Because she _does_ die when the doctor doesn't recognize her.
Very thankful for the lack of spoilers, everyone has been so good in the comment section! Well, it’s been so long since I seen the episode where she died that I didn’t really clock that when she said it🙈
I like that Moffat decided to play around with the way this season is structured now that S5 set up the status quo nicely. Made sense to get the ball rolling quickly to carry on the momentum they built in S5. Supposedly, when it was still up in the air whether Tennant was going to stay for S5, the original plan was to have Ten just prior to his regeneration be the one who landed in Amy's yard when she was a child, and then a younger version pop up again when she's an adult for all the Prisoner Zero/Atraxi stuff and the rest of the season. Kind of fun that Moffat managed to still use that element of that plan here. I hope that everything with the move starts to get back on track - moving house is rarely fun. And don't worry about the schedule, we'll be looking forward to your next reaction regardless of when it lands. The end of the next episode is a bit of a doozy.
I'm not sure if it makes it better or worse that we as viewers have already seen the heartbreaking moment that River's dreading (our introduction to River, in which David Tennant doesn't recognize her in the Library).
I feel worse because we were all like the Doctor in that moment of time, not knowing who she is or how important she would be. Now I feel bad for not feeling as much as I should about her death when it happened🫠
@@ReactandRamble I can understand that, although of course there was no way for any of us to have actually gotten attached (on a first watch-through, I mean). It's nobody's fault. Neither we nor the Doctor had gotten to know her, yet. Even if we "knew she'd be important," the emotion wasn't there. As you may be aware, some people, after getting up to date with DW, go back and rewatch all the River episodes in "River Timeline order." Puts a lot of things into a different emotional perspective. You don't necessarily need to record reactions if you do that (although some reactors do), but it's an interesting little journey. That's still quite a ways in the future, though, of course.
Lots of episodes I'm excited for you to see this series. No there's never been a Wife/Husband couple as companions before, in classic Who in fact getting married was often a way to write companions out (sometimes that worked, sometimes it felt very forced and out of place for the character.)
I have a feeling this season will be pretty good based on the comments! Well, I love that Rory and Amy are the first, they deserve to stay on as companions😄
Don't worry about your upload schedule. You do what you have to do and upload new videos when you got time for it. We don't go anywhere. Happy to hear that your dad is doing better. Hope he can get out of the hospital soon. This season is really cool and fun to watch. It deliberately keeps you confused throughout to have some bigger payoffs later. :) And every time you get a payoff, new questions are raised. XD This season also contains an incredibly fun episode written by Neil Gaiman.
Hello, It is difficult to comment on this single episode, except emotional and Intriguing, except in the context of the whole Season. Of which I think is the best of the Matt Smith Era. These Characters I have enjoyed the most.
Others have pointed out that the actor playing Old Canton (W Morgan Sheppard) is, in the real world, the father of actor playing More Vigorous Canton (Mark Sheppard). To expand on it a bit, Morgan Sheppard has a list of acting credits as long as your arm, including a bunch of Star Trek appearances and (a personal fave) Max Headroom. Mark /also/ has a huge list of acting credits, which I shan’t list here for fear of spoilers. :)
When you think about River's statement, her past is his future, that means she knows soo much about not only the doctor's future but also the companion's futures. She has to keep so many secrets from them to keep their timeline intact (and vice versa, such as the Library story).
They gave some focus in America for this story, because they wanted to bring in the american audience and that was a way of doing it in their mind. This openning was a crazy one! I loved the new aliens they added, the start of the episode was insane and the end? Damn, that was very unpredictable and awesome! One thing that I wanted to say, I made a comment in the previous reaction, but I'm not sure if you can see it. I don't know how much UA-cam let you filter comments and stuff, but I added a link, because I made an edit of you with the Eleventh Doctor and I wanted to show you, so I added the link that will lead you to the image, but, if I'm not connected to UA-cam, I noticed that I can't see that comment, so I don't know if you are able to see it or not.
Ok, I both understand that and think it's a bizarre way to draw in the American audience😂 I totally agree! I can't wait to see where it is heading, so many twists!😄 I'm glad you commented! I seen your comment briefly when I was out and when I went to read and click on the link it had disappeared! I'm not actually sure how to find it because I have tried the filter but nothing is coming up. I will keep looking though and thank you!💖
I did say Amy’s choice was a key episode! Amy was pregnant in that. Rory died. We’ve seen both those things since the episode. Keep that episode in mind as you watch.
Damn. Just looked at the video library and saw she never did "Tooth and Claw." At least I think that was the name. But I'd love to see the reaction to Tennant dropping his fake British accent and actually using his real Scottish accent for part of the show. And of course, Rose trying to fake a Scottish accent was a hoot. Spoiler: they popped up in Scotland.
I live for Tennant doing his own accent and yes Rose was pretty awful at her attempt😂 I’ve watched Tennant’s time as the Doctor so it wouldn’t have been a first reaction😊
You can meet a time traveler out of order. Imagine I'm a time traveler. I meet you for the first time right now. Then I travel back in time and meet you when you were 10. From your perspective You met me for the first time when you were 10, but from my perspective we met for the first time when you are the age you are now.
4:40 the moment a person has to admit how much they have fallen in love with the 11th Doctor. Trust me, there is a reason that David Tennant was the 10th Doctor, he was "perfect", then this goofy bastard drops in and I forgot to mourn for one of the best Doctor's of all time and guilt is a weird thing, so I push off admitting how much I love Matt Smith's Doctor and then this episode hits and .... Me a grown ass man is crying and bargning with thte t,v set for more time, I didn't get enough time with this Doctor, I am like the Pandorica Justice league, creating scenarios from the minds of his companions to give me more time... I am one of those idiots who loved "fear her" and the 12th, 13th, 14th and 15th Doctor so what do I know?
Why is this so accurate?! I love David Tennant and he’s still my favourite but I don’t want to lose Matt Smith as the Doctor now. Your reaction is totally valid, it just goes to show how great Matt Smith is that there was such a strong reaction to him dying. I’m feeling optimistic about future Doctors if you enjoyed them all!💖
Let's dive into the most mind blowing timey-wimey season.
I mean that's one way of describing this season I guess.
@@quintuscrinis it’s definitely a whovian way of describing it
Overly convoluted and predictable and messy, best way to describe it
I never really thought of Matt's doctor as a big child. I always saw him more as a Labrador Retriever puppy. A bit awkward and clumsy, lovable, and knocking everything off the coffee table to get the ball
Ok, I can totally see that!🤣
I love the fact that old canton delaware is played by the father of young canton delaware
Hi hi, what a treat for you in this series,, coming to tear your heart out and slap it and put it back again. Nice editing
Yeah, it’s already giving me emotional whiplash🤣 thank you💖I really appreciate that, I should hopefully get the hang of it someday🤣
I must say, I’m loving your reactions. This is my favorite season, with some of my favorite episodes. I can’t wait to see what you think of them.
Thanks for watching! I get why it’s your favourite, I’m really enjoying what I’ve seen so far😄
This was the season that got me back in Dr Who in a big way, I remember being upset when DT left and I wasn’t really feeling season 5 but 6 was so ambitious and really kept you guessing I hope you love it too, your reactions are precious- have a wonderful time
Yeah I felt that devastation when DT left🤣 I’m really enjoying it so far so it’s good to know it continues to get better! Aww thank you💖😄
Me and my brother watched this episode when it premiered, and I remember the expression on his face when the Doctor died. He was like "wait he's regenerating, so he'll be fine," then ZAP. One of the best openers. Split into two episodes that are absolutely brilliant. Just a few more to go until we get to perhaps my favorite episode.
Excellent start to a new season! Remember to let me know when I get to your favourite episode😄
It took me years before I realised that Amy was actually facing away from the astronaut when she moved to shoot it, so she didn't realise it was a little girl before it was too late and she'd already pulled the trigger; hence her cry of anguis at the end, as it was only then that she realised what she'd done.
Got to meet one of the actors who played the new aliens at a con. He was so nice to me . Enjoyed your reaction this series is fun.
I’m glad he was nice! Thanks for watching and it’s a fun watch so far😄
Yay the River season begins
All the astronaut wanted to do was hand the Doctor his MTV Video Music Award! hmph! 😁
Welp, that’s the Doctor’s fault for not accepting it then🤣
You don't get a happy ending without an unhappy start.

been waiting for this

oh my goodness the callback to the Library HITS hard.... i love them bringing it back though

The actor who played Canton (the detective) in the present was literally the father of the one who played him in 1969.
Almost seems supernatural
Excellent casting choice!😄

Rivers speech to Rory "and I think it will kill me" being prophesy! Get's me every time!! Then Amy shooting a kid, WOW that's dark.
I really need to watch River’s death again, I’m betting it will have a bigger impact after getting to know her.

Thank you and thanks for the comment💖😊
"Space, 1969!" This is a pun on Space 1999 which was an iffy Sci Fi series confusingly, from 1975...
Strap in. This series is a wild ride.
1:00 You have a couple honeymooning on the Tardis, and that has some really interesting effects and the marriage.
Mark Sheppard and his father.
One of the many things that make this show the best ever :)
Oh...and he first tome the Doctor met her...was the last day of her life.
Or did you forget the library and "who turned out the lights". ;)
I love that they casted his father!
I actually forgot when watching this episode, I probably should rewatch the library one😄
