Had me in fits of laughter from start to finish 😊 ‘it’s a VIP Boxset… … we're not even actually IPs' - love it! If Atari were looking for bods who’d show that their new kit could be immense fun, they chose very well with you two 😊 Many thanks for another wonderfully bonkers episode!
I know it's not a technical matter, but that glossy black box containing the console is Pure Class. I was wondering when you opened it whether the Ataric logo in the centre was a sticker that would have to be torn off making a ragged mess. No: it's inset into one side and part of the other, and the lid of the box opens like a safe door.
I can't think of anyone more deserving of an Atari VIP package than you two! I think that the 1 or 2 percent of original games that aren't compatible with the 2600+ and 7800+ is a decent enough sacrifice for HDMI. Plus, every vintage controller is also compatible. I think I remember seeing that vintage games that had an additional chip inside the cart are the ones that aren't compatible with the new "plus" consoles (Pitfall 2 being one of them).
It's official, you've made it, you're "influencers". I wish I could buy this in Canada just for the 2600 cartridge compatibility. I even emailed them and they literally sent me a broken link : (
As an elder goth, I appreciate the coffin shaped controllers of the North American version. Also, I too would totally watch the PGA tour if the golfers had to fight ninjas.
Is it weird that I was as excited as you (maybe just a bit more) during the unboxing? What a cool machine and that packaging was simply fantastic! Maybe it was custom made for VIPs? The question I am left with is, do I buy the 2600+ or 7800+? I really want the 7800 games but the woodgrain of the 2600 is my weakness. 🤔
Atari's strategy to sell 78 hundred cartridges was to bury them in a bunker for a millenium and then sell them after all other retro games have been forgotten.
@@redleader7988 For a design standpoint, even in earlier versions you wouldn't see the label you might think that if you have a showroom of cartridges you would have the contacts exposed and accumulating dust. I guess they didn't think they were doing art at all.
Well I'm sold!
Sean! We should head to head on some Frogs and Flies!

Bonkers is our area of expertise! Not pictured, our getting the original email from Atari and trying to decide if it was real or not. Ha!
It brings a smile to my face that Atari sent you that. Bravo Atari! I have hope for them yet! Look at that treasure trove! Enjoy!
Congrats on the 7800+! You both are great. Happy Thanksgiving to you all, and anyone in comments, and Veronica too :)
You guys so much deserve your VIP Boxset! Congrats!
We figure after this they'll figure out their mistake so we are gonna enjoy it. 😂

It's begging to be a belt buckle.

You received #38 that’s awesome! They sent one to Mr. Chickenz as well! Who the hell is he! 😄 The 7800+ is amazingly incredible!
Bawk bawk!

That's awesome!! I love the 7800!
That is extremely cool. Great selection included. Gamepads! I hope you get 100K views.

I would exclusively watch ninja and dragon based golfing if it existed.
Maybe they heard about the breakout success of the Stop Bits!
That HAS to be it. 😂
That is such a cool boxset! if you find a copy of Commando for the 7800 be sure to pick it up, it's super fun (but unfortunately kinda pricey).
Fun!
Box contains: Atari 7800+ and a lifetime of bragging rights! God I love those controllers!

The 2600+ also plays 7800 games, according to Atari's website.
You can't lose, just pick your aesthetic!
16:30 so stressful watching you play 😂
Garth, imagine how it is for me!!!!
I will not call the little ship in Asteroids as The Dorito
This is the way.
It's an early holiday for some VIP's!
0:30 "no one tell them that we're not even actually IPs, much less VIPs" xD
NO WAY!!!
GIRL!!!!

SportsBall FakeBase is what I will call these games forever
You are living life correctly.
Lol, looks like fun. Key light is to bright lower it or back it up a little. (lower ISO maybe). :-)
VIP = Vintage Internet Peasants ❤😂
Yes!
It's almost like Taylor and Amy are the greatest thing in retro... Oh wait, they kind of are 😊
You'll have to ask Modern Vintage Gamer what serial number he got.
Hopefully the Australian atari group gets one???
My attention was elsewhere for a minute and what kind of golf game has ninjas and giant frogs?
You lucky (V) people :) amazing, I would not say no to that :-D
So the art in the cartridge is upside down and facing away when you insert it?
It's because they go in at a steep angle on the 2600, blocking the front label.

It encourages yoga.
The American version of the controls were not good.
The most not good that not good ever was.
