Nissan has some great vehicles or has options that sell around the world that don't sell in the US that could help. I don't see the E-Power platform or 4 cylinder diesel option available on the US website
I'm assuming you are referring to small cars? They just don't sell here in the USA. All the 'big 3' American auto makers tried to sell a few models, as did Toyota (Yaris & Scion), Nissan, Hyundai, Honda (Fit), Mazda (Mazda 2) and the sales volumes didn't justify keeping them. The only brand I know keeping a small car in the line-up is Kia.
A Thai car meme said another name of Nissan in Thailand is “Beautiful? Want It? Not For Sale!” It means Nissan Thailand is lacks of new models compared to other car markets and usually not bring its models that Thai people want. The only one Nissan dealership in my province is closing and changing to be BYD. I see some people are disagree with that, but it seems to not care about that. (I agree with the new BYD dealer because some people already using BYD here before the dealership exist here, but I strongly disagree about killing Nissan.)

That is what I was trying to say in a sarcastic way. However, in all fairness, if you look at the valuation of Tesla in relation to its actual contributions to the market, it is a total scam. This stems from lots of bold statements like the robotaxi that was supposed to have flooded the market by 2017 and other stupid promises that he is a specialist in.
This is tragic when you consider nissan was a world leader in the shift to electric cars with the Leaf. Not sure how that dominant early position ends up with Nissan in this place.
An ‘Oh shit!’ moment…. Nissan is one of the few worldwide companies that cannot say they did not see this coming. I wonder if Sunderland could break free and go alone with electric?
The UK plant is already going to electric production, having been producing the Leaf for years. Its now to be the centre of production for the all electric Qashqai, Juke and new Leaf models. The upgrade investment was made last year and carried out this year.
Nissan needs to make a small front wheedrive "electric only" pickup truck, everyone is dragging their feet to that market....boom I hated the long overhang on the front of the updated leaf. The Aria is too expensive.
Bad days for Smyrna, TN (pop 53,070 with 8,000 working at the Nissan plant), Canton, MS (pop 10,742 with 4,000 working at the Nissan plant) and Decherd, TN (pop 2,379 with 1,600 working at the Nissan plant). Nissan's error came two decades ago, when they chose CVTs to meet emissions and fuel efficiency regulations. CVTs require fluid changes at regular intervals or fail catastrophically, and owners weren't prepared. So unlike Toyota (or to a lesser extent Honda), Nissan soon lost the reputation for reliability it cultivated over decades.
Sorry to say, but UK is a small market..., mostly irrelevant in picture of global competition, especially after the Brexit. Qashqai and Juke ICE vehicles alone can't save Nissan, if they are losing China's market rapidly...
I wish Tata Motors would acquire Nissan. JLR is profitable now because of Tata Motors, and they could make Nissan profitable as well. They are experimenting with different strategies to make Jaguar's profitable and keep the brand alive.
JDM is dead. Now it is a niche of old used JDM cars that does not generate revenue for automakers, rather aftermarket. Only Miata and 86 are still hanging in there for now, but they sure don't bring a lot of profit for makers, because they are "budget" options.
Nah, Japan will do OK. The auto market may be struggling, but Japan overall will not be affected to any great degree by it. If it was investing in China or Japan, Japan would be the easy choice by a wide margin (but not necessarily Nissan!).
Before spreading nonsense to learn some basic financial knowledge, take to 2023 financial report, BYD to financial institutions to borrow, as well as issued in the capital market debt only 30.3 billion yuan, interest-bearing liabilities in the total liabilities accounted for only 5%, more than 90% of the liabilities for non-interest-bearing liabilities. These non-interest-bearing liabilities mainly include outstanding supplier payments, upcoming employee compensation, unpaid taxes, and contractual liabilities. In other words, the vast majority of BYD's liabilities do not require interest payments. And at the same time, BYD's operating cash inflow of 610 billion yuan, of which more than 430 billion yuan was used to pay interest-free liabilities, the net operating cash flow is still 170 billion. And that's all based on the premise that construction of more than 10 factories is in spurts.
Nissan needs to get completely rid of the CVT garbage they've had for years, bring out a hybrid or two and get prices down under Honda and Toyota with a better warranty.
Carlos Ghosn is a criminal and fugitive from Japan who was smuggled out of Japan in a large instrument placed onto a jet. I don't think that he wants to go back to Japan to be arrested and thrown in jail, again.
We have had a Qashqai for 5 years. It's one of the best cars we've ever had...driven just about everything and are big Honda fans..(we've had 10 cars in the past!) such a shame as the Sunderland plant is one of the best in the world...closure would be devastating for the whole North East region of England.
The latest iteration of the Qashqai certainly looks good and I hope it doesn’t carry over the Moniker of being the most polluting car in the UK. They were forced to retrofit older diesels to reduce emissions.
Possible that a Chinese automaker might buy some Nissan brand names (Qashqai maybe), just as happened with MG, Volvo and others. However, Nissan's only EV offering (Leaf) is redundant tech, and worthless. Nissan can't survive (sadly) and the much-vaunted Sunderland factory will close within 2-3 years. Nissan's total demise will happen by 2028.
@@0utcastAussieNot with the uncompetitive price of labour and electricity in the UK. Throw in our BS EV mandates that fine automakers 15,000 GBP per car for every non electric car over their total % production limit and the entire industry is teetering on a cliff edge.

What a shame. What an irony. Nisan (and of course Tesla) spearheaded the EV revolution back in the day. I leased a Leaf2 for a few years and, compromised range aside (due to battery tech and cost at the time) it was a wonderful, incredibly practical, well made car that I loved to drive. So it seemed they had the jump back then, but just couldn’t move quick enough to capitalise on it.
They can just refinance the loans as they come due, issue more shares or any number of other things, sure finance costs might be more but they won’t go bankrupt due to this
Ni$$an has been dying for a while. They have spent nothing significant on R&D in a long while, their vehicle lineup is tired, poorly engineered or just doesn't appeal to the masses. Having Renault take a controlling interest has done them no favours, so too the rise or Korean manufacturers that beat them on price and quality and Chinese manufacturers that beat them on price. Its just a matter of time before they are taken out the back and put out of their misery. I've owned a couple of Nissans, but they pretty much gave up in the mid 2000's and have been going through the motions since
Nissan isn't the only Japanese or legacy car company in trouble, but they may just be the first to fail, and who will save them, the Japanese Government (probably not), a Chinese car company (why?), which leaves who?
Nissan should throw a Hail Mary and warranty their transmission for 200kmi to boost consumer confidence in the brand; it worked for Hyundai/Kida. They won't be in business at this rate, so why not?
Bit of a shame that Nissan is struggling so badly with the failure to navigate the changes in the market. They genuinely made some great cars eg Pulsar and the sss version of the Pulsar, skyline silvia and etc. They had a really good thing going on with the leaf had they invested in better battery and software for it and pushed that as a "Premier" model.
I currently drive and own a 2007 fully equipped Nissan Primera 1.8L petrol with a manual gearbox. The engine is bulletproof but the cabin materials and other small bits are of low quality, far from the 1997 Nissan Primera i once had and really liked. Since early 2000´s Nissans alliance with Renault saved them from bankruptcy but annihilated their quality with the adoption of the Renault mentality = build and design cars cheaply. The reason why i drive and hold to my 2007 Nissan is that all the POST -2010 cars are pure low quality rubbish so no wonder they are going bust once again. Sad
With Toyota having the uncomfortable crown of the most indebted company in corporate history, I don’t think they’re going to want to spend even more of someone else’s money…
I’ll never go back to Nissan. Too bad, the Frontier is probably their best built vehicle. Picked up a Mazda. Wish Mazda would bring the truck back. Just as good or better than Toyota, without all the “subscription fees”.
I think they could be absorbed by Toyota. Would make sens. Toyota have progrssively made is way to the upper middle class price and Lexus is for the rich class. So they need a brand label for the blue color part of the market. Both company are in Japan so for the proximity and the culture it would be a more feasable thing.
I'd be curious to hear your thoughts on Nissan vs. Mitsubishi. Mitsubishi is almost extinct here in the U.S., but it seems like Nissan has more stores than their competitors.
I don’t want to be a pessimist but why are so many of these UA-cam clips about companies going bust. Doesn’t anyone care about all the jobs in jeopardy which is very concerning for those directly affected ( in particular in Germany ) Very sad situation, as it seems that no one can compete with Chinese manufacturers Great for their economy but what about the rest of the world
Big financial partnership with Renault and Mitsubishi for many years now, and that didn't help. Now big brother Renault is in financial trouble also, can't come and save them again.
Renault is not struggling, at least no more than other car companies. Mitsubishi is part of the Alliance and has nothing to do with Nissan demise. Nissan broke up from Renault years ago : their strategy is not defined by Renault for years. It is their own fault. Without Renault, Nissan would have disappeared in the 1990s
I'm surprised that Nissan managed to survive until present. I mean, who needs another freaking Renault? They lost their Japanese identity - contrary to Mazda, which restored it.
Their transmissions are trash on all their vehicles and no one can fix them properly. They have too many issues for hard working people to invest in. I was told that parts in the motor melted because it was too hot in Texas (because the motor doesn't run at 300-400 degrees, right?). They and Jeep need to go.

Same faith for 150 Chinese car manufacturers
A Thai car meme said another name of Nissan in Thailand is “Beautiful? Want It? Not For Sale!” It means Nissan Thailand is lacks of new models compared to other car markets and usually not bring its models that Thai people want.
The only one Nissan dealership in my province is closing and changing to be BYD. I see some people are disagree with that, but it seems to not care about that. (I agree with the new BYD dealer because some people already using BYD here before the dealership exist here, but I strongly disagree about killing Nissan.)
100%!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Junk cars= junk credit rating. It took 3 for me to learn my lesson.
not always, look at Tesla
@@joim3480 I'm not a Tesla fan, but I don't think their cars could be called junk.
I think ya have that backwards.
Junk credit rating first= junk cars.
Teslas aren't inexpensive or cheap.
@@skasteve6528 I agree, although some people said so, plastic dislocating, system issues etc..., I do not think the cars the cars are junk, but nor are Nissan's.
Similar to BMW, they toyed with it but didn’t bet the company. If you see the future, don’t stare at it with your eyes closed and hope it goes away!
@@ouethojlkjn BMW at least acknowledges the EV demand, toyota will be a bigger fall from grace.
An ‘Oh shit!’ moment…. Nissan is one of the few worldwide companies that cannot say they did not see this coming. I wonder if Sunderland could break free and go alone with electric?
That's the problem, net zero nightmare!
No chance.
@@HopgooddNah incompetence & Hubris.
Why invest in the UK businesses want to be inside the EU trading zone
The UK plant is already going to electric production, having been producing the Leaf for years. Its now to be the centre of production for the all electric Qashqai, Juke and new Leaf models. The upgrade investment was made last year and carried out this year.
GAME OVER NISSAN
Nissan needs to make a small front wheedrive "electric only" pickup truck, everyone is dragging their feet to that market....boom
I hated the long overhang on the front of the updated leaf.
So unlike Toyota (or to a lesser extent Honda), Nissan soon lost the reputation for reliability it cultivated over decades.
carlos karma strikes
Interesting because the Qashqai is no 3 best seller and the Juke no 5 in the UK. Manufacturing and demand are up.
China is the biggest market for sales , so sales in the uk hardly make a mention
@@jasoncarmichael4540 Totally understand that, just saying they do still make desirable cars.
@@sargfowler9603Recent battery improvements will kill demand even in the UK.
Sorry to say, but UK is a small market..., mostly irrelevant in picture of global competition, especially after the Brexit. Qashqai and Juke ICE vehicles alone can't save Nissan, if they are losing China's market rapidly...
Stats say UK is the second largest car market in Europe after Germany….why people think this is small?
I wish Tata Motors would acquire Nissan. JLR is profitable now because of Tata Motors, and they could make Nissan profitable as well. They are experimenting with different strategies to make Jaguar's profitable and keep the brand alive.
The collapse of Japan has started.
Japan's cultures and soft powers are too popular worldwide to fail, including the JDM car culture.
@@undisclosedthai Nothing lasts forever.
JDM is dead. Now it is a niche of old used JDM cars that does not generate revenue for automakers, rather aftermarket. Only Miata and 86 are still hanging in there for now, but they sure don't bring a lot of profit for makers, because they are "budget" options.
The Collapse of China began second .. Japan is world economy collapse collateral damage.
Nah, Japan will do OK. The auto market may be struggling, but Japan overall will not be affected to any great degree by it. If it was investing in China or Japan, Japan would be the easy choice by a wide margin (but not necessarily Nissan!).
That's what happens when you let your quality slide. When the going gets tough you're gonna be at the bottom of people's lists.
Removing Carlos G is a mistake
There is a good chance I was one of the people that called you crazy in the past video.
So is now the time to buy a Nissan Pathfinder? It doesn't have a CVT.
BYD debt is also huge as well due to their rapid expansion. That could be a potential bubble too. Total Debt is like 50 Billion USD.
I reed like 75 billion USD
Reported in some anti-China youtube channels only, so it is possible to be a fake news.

Will there be a Fire Sale?
They have noting of value.
Water sale . . . perhaps.
I would love to know. There were a few I wanted but the price was too high.
Nissan needs to get completely rid of the CVT garbage they've had for years, bring out a hybrid or two and get prices down under Honda and Toyota with a better warranty.
I remember Ghosn had to escape Japan in a box.
They need to bring back Ghosn
Right now
Bankrupt is better
Bankrupt = the shareholders still got money back
Giving another chance will make money gone more
Not a chance!
He's responsible for this situation! Cost cut and cost cut and putring French Renault engine in Nissan car that there are répercussion on quality !
They are dead in the water.

Either Geely or BYD ?
Which would actually be great for the UK market.
Like a Phoenix Sunderland would rise from the ashes.
@@0utcastAussieNot with the uncompetitive price of labour and electricity in the UK. Throw in our BS EV mandates that fine automakers 15,000 GBP per car for every non electric car over their total % production limit and the entire industry is teetering on a cliff edge.
Nissan CEO makes annual salary of 6million dollars a year. He is forgiving 50% pay cut. Now he is only getting 3million dollars salary. That is so sad after thousands of employees lost there job
Nissan lost the plot when they killed the Pulsar for the cough Tiida.
They lost it when they discontinued the B210
I had a Pulsar GTiR in the late 1990s. It's probably the most fun car I ever owned. (Japanese import).
I had some very good Datsun car very reliable but a few years ago I brought a nissan I only had it a week took it back to the dealer and had my money back
Who cares about brands? It's like buying a TV. A car Is just a tin box that gets you about.
VW and Toyota next
They can just refinance the loans as they come due, issue more shares or any number of other things, sure finance costs might be more but they won’t go bankrupt due to this
Call Carlos Goshn to the rescue! First, drop off the charges against him...
I've owned a couple of Nissans, but they pretty much gave up in the mid 2000's and have been going through the motions since
The whole cvt transmission issue didn't help either. Nissan's CVT was one of the worst ever made.
The eagle tarif towards panda
Just accelerated the decline

Nissan isn't the only Japanese or legacy car company in trouble, but they may just be the first to fail, and who will save them, the Japanese Government (probably not), a Chinese car company (why?), which leaves who?
Nissan should throw a Hail Mary and warranty their transmission for 200kmi to boost consumer confidence in the brand; it worked for Hyundai/Kida. They won't be in business at this rate, so why not?
Nissans sales in the US and in China are a disaster. Most of this is self inflicted plus their poor innovation on the EV front.
BYD has $73 billion of debt 🤪
The current state of Nissan is shocking. Even now, their cars aren't bad. They just don't stand out from the crowd.
They’ve fallen a long way since they (Datsun) were industry innovators back in the 1970s and 1980s.
They would have been reborn with the fall of toyota and honda. If only they made good cars like they used to.
Your right yet greed is going to get them 😂
Bit of a shame that Nissan is struggling so badly with the failure to navigate the changes in the market. They genuinely made some great cars eg Pulsar and the sss version of the Pulsar, skyline silvia and etc.
They had a really good thing going on with the leaf had they invested in better battery and software for it and pushed that as a "Premier" model.
Pulsar GTiR 😊
So, no more new CVT's to replace the unfixable junk out there?
well at least their debt rating now matches their product quality! 🤣
No electric GTR ?
:(
It's not just muscle car fans who reject EVs, JDM fans too.
Sad
does this mean i should be able to get a brand new GTR for $100k like in 2010?
Shame it’s not Renault/Peugeot..
They need to go!
Why?
@ poorly designed and made cars, French and they are state subsidised/supported. The very thing the EI stopped the U.K. gov rent doing with rover.
Toyota will buy them out like they did to Subaru, next Mazda
Nah they have their own problems.
No it will be geely
With Toyota having the uncomfortable crown of the most indebted company in corporate history, I don’t think they’re going to want to spend even more of someone else’s money…
but why geely? Nissan is hardly a brand name to buy, unlike MG, Volvo, or even Jaguar...
Toyota is spending someone else's money lol... Toyota still never go bankrupt as long as the Japanese government bails them out
*Nissan:* _Wanna buy a factory?_
Nissan has Single handedly given electric car batteries a bad reputation with the Leaf. Good riddance.
Doesn’t anyone care about all the jobs in jeopardy which is very concerning for those directly affected

Great for their economy but what about the rest of the world
If you notice they all own tesla stock or drive teslas
Big financial partnership with Renault and Mitsubishi for many years now, and that didn't help. Now big brother Renault is in financial trouble also, can't come and save them again.
Renault is not struggling, at least no more than other car companies.
Mitsubishi is part of the Alliance and has nothing to do with Nissan demise. Nissan broke up from Renault years ago : their strategy is not defined by Renault for years. It is their own fault. Without Renault, Nissan would have disappeared in the 1990s
Yoohoo! Japan is following the EU in going to the gurgler. That's the clique called the G7.
I'm surprised that Nissan managed to survive until present. I mean, who needs another freaking Renault? They lost their Japanese identity - contrary to Mazda, which restored it.
Renault tentacles are everywhere, they are even in Mercedes, I know I owned one. Merc A class, Renault DCI with 6 speed EDC..

I am one of many that had bought a Nissan and at some point due the dealers crapy service promissed to never ever buy a shitty nissan again.
Their transmissions are trash on all their vehicles and no one can fix them properly. They have too many issues for hard working people to invest in. I was told that parts in the motor melted because it was too hot in Texas (because the motor doesn't run at 300-400 degrees, right?). They and Jeep need to go.
