The way james got them to bring the volume down at the start and they all did it together tightly....absolute under control...what a band he always had... what performer
I had the honour of watching Mr Brown rehearse this band back 20 years ago In Phoenix in the afternoon for the opening night. The reason I got to see them is because I was working with Adrian James AJ Croce and we opened. Besides the Sax man who’d been with him the horns were a pick up crew. He was not only exact with the directions for ex: (“you have to sharp the 11 in this passage it’s not a natural and that’s what gives it the sound”) but he was a gent with them going though it. He was firm with the rhythm section “every time, I mean every time we get to this transition we slow down. Cmon Gotta keep it going “( Prob paraphrased a little). He could explain everything and every detail clearly to everyone, knew the theory and knew how to get the best out of the players coming in. And he was hands on. The hardest working man in the business. I’m just happy that I got to see that.
To be given that much solo time is enough of a compliment, but to be called out as he was, remarkable. Some cats get up and play what they can, he gets up and plays what he wants... indeed! Such an astute observation from a musical giant.
Mr. Brown looks very menacing with those sunglasses on, l would not want to be the 1 to miss a note in rehearsal or live- this rehearsal is Off The Chain!!!! Love James Brown the way he's putting a different arrangement on his songs, the solos from the different musicians and as always The Bittersweet sound delicious etc etc etc
I recorded this audio at the hotel in Augusta. It was kinda a rundown place, but I guess he had the run of the place. I recorded his mic, the live stereo board mix and had a shotgun mic for the rest of the band. It was not the easiest thing to do, but it was amazing to witness this. James Brown was sweating so much by the end, It really was a testament to how hard this man worked, always.
@@whatevershebrings We were doing a documentary for American Masters, but we also filmed/ recorded their rehearsal for the tour and then James Brown in concert. Great gig.
@@everythingiseverything6740 Thanks for the info. Watching this clip, you realize how late this is in his career, and still how dedicated he is to the music. The band, while not the J.B.'s or any famous names, are all together and tight as hell under his leadership. His voice is on it, too...no squeals or animalistic grunts, but still funky and on the money. A commanding presence, a terrific if modest ensemble, and two very energetic dancers. Great stuff.
🇧🇷 Simplesmente James Brown! Super Bad. James Brown era brasileiro! The GODFATHER of soul! Stone to the bone! Sex Maxine etc. A vibe hot. #valeuuunnn* ❤✊🏽👴🏾🤳🏾
This was from 2004? It was from one of his documentaries I think...can't remember the name of the documentary but know for sure it was from one of them..
I completely disagree with you I’ve seen Mr. Brown over 100 times in concert since 1971 and these two are the best answers he’s ever had the dark haired one of the Yonna Kari she’s my all-time favorite James Brown dancer.

Awesome band leader. I never get how James just ends a song randomly

I don’t think it was hard work that made him sweat!
@@theelvisguru9490 Funny, but I think he was off the pcp then. Who knows
What a gig for you, eh? Was this a tour rehearsal, or simply put together to get footage down for a documentary?
