@ROG I wouldn't know how to type the Japanese text into Google Translate to convert it to English. Years of language tuition and a lot of money was my only option.
Aah, the Sega Saturn. So many great memories on such a great system. My brothers favorite Sega system of all time. Thanks Global for showing this. Really made my day! Anthony...
Hi Anthony, thanks for the comment. Yep I have to agree, the Saturn was an amazing console. The games library is enormous, so with a mod chip or Pseudo saturn boot cart you can play backup copies of the entire collection. Many hours of fun.
Global Garage That's so true Global. My brother has a mod chip inside his unit. Many hours of entertainment are right into his unit that he has been enjoying for years! Anthony...
Can somebody please clarify if this changes the text to English ONLY in the menus or does it change the text to English during gameplay for import games as well? This is the most important question and there doesn't seem to be an answer for it anywhere on the internet...
Hey I got a problem I switch the menu to english but after I disconnected my saturn it defaults back to Japanese I have a new battery installed and my memory data for video games stays but the language always goes back to Japanese
I can confirm this too happens on my model 2 saturn. Every other setting and saves remain, but language goes back to japanese. It usually happens after I play Soul Hackers on it for whatever reason.
Hey I have a problem with my model 1 Sega genesis. When I turn it on it has wavy horizontal lines across the screen. If you could help it would really help.
Are you sure your SCART cable is wired up correctly for RGB? Keep in mind SCART is just the physical connector standard, it can carry composite and RGB video signals at the same time. You also really need to be sure PIN16 has at least 2V applied to properly run RGB. Your upscaler should tell you the mode that its receiving, but check the basics first.
+Global Garage I dont know anything about pin 16 and 2v. Everything is displayed correctly and sounds correctly except for the fact that there is wavy lines as well. I don't think the problem is unique to the scart to HDMI because it has the same problem with the composite to HDMI.
megaben99 No it won't. It's just the menu language that we're changing. The game is completely separate, but you can simply play an English game in a Japanese console by using Pseudo Saturn.
Actually, it worth to try with some games. I believe "Powerslave", known as "Exhumed" in Europe and "Seireki 1999: Pharaoh no Fukkatsu" in Japan, has english option and choose the default language used by the console. But I don't have my copy anymore to test it.
Thank you! I have my Japanese Saturn on the way and this is a massive hep!
Can't beat the prices in Japan. I just ordered one from sendico!
@@scottyfpv5651 mee too! i got a japan one too. they look better
Wow i own my Sega saturn for more than 25 years and never knew this!!
Thanks. Saved me years of language tuition and a lot of money.

@@neilmclean1527 Haha.
Have a saturn coming in soon so its good that i caught this on time.
Thank you. Saved me the trouble of dragging out my us model to figure it out.
Received my Sega Saturn from ebay yesterday. Thanks for putting up this video. Nice one.
Thank you! I was going nuts over here trying to remember.
What an absolute Legend... Thanks so much brudda! 😎✌️
Thanks! Very concise!

Thank you! I bought a Japanese saturn because it was way cheaper. Appreciate the video!
Very nice thanks! Just sorted my newly acquired Japanese Saturn :D

I only know ONE example where a game's text is changed to English if this is done: Final Fight Revenge. Otherwise, not too sure.
Thank you very much!
thank you sir
Thank you
I know the Neo-Geo ports on the Saturn will be in English if you set the Saturn console to English...
I also have a computer chip for Saturn. What is that for if you don’t mind me asking
Life saver. Thanks
Thanks.
Very useful, thank you!
Will doing this make Japanese text in games switch to English?
excellent thanks for this!!!
Thanks. I found this very useful.
So I deleted my memory and now none of my games play. Can you help me out?
thank you!
Another great video thanks
Thanks. Just a quick and simple one, but it's a handy thing to know for Japanese Saturns
But I don't understand why when I turn off the console and then turn it on again it asks me for the language and time settings again
Your battery is flat. Change it from the rear door.
@@RetroSalesAustralia Already done, thanks. I replaced the battery
Thanks!!

Your memory battery could be dead

My CR2032 batteries have died so often that I almost don't need this video to remember anymore lol

Hey Justin, What type of cable are you using? RF, Composite, RGB?
+Global Garage Well I'm using a scart to HDMI converter but I have the same problem using an composite to HDMI converter.

will this option translate the games into english too?
