One thing that struck me - I never keep vegetables in the bags from the supermarkets. I find they sweat and go mouldy in them. I take them all out when I return from the shops, and sit them on a clean tea towel on the bottom of the draw. Proper storage and food can last a long time.
Really enjoyed this video. We have food waste bins in Bedfordshire, great idea and so many things can be included. Another thing I do is knit dish cloths, they go in the washing machine and they last for years.
Brilliant - thanks Lisa. Totally agree. I’m excited too at the moment trying to meal plan, use everything and have frugal meals. We were spending a tonne on shopping!!! But now we have started writing everything down that we are spending and I’m making a supreme effort to cut costs. But I’ve been surprised that I’ve enjoyed it!
I don't know if you celebrate Easter, but my parents have always dyed hard boiled eggs (for Easter) by boiling the eggs in onion skins...the egg shells turn a deep red (almost like maroon); seeing your pile of onion skins reminded me of this. I always enjoy your videos! Hope you enjoy your birthday weekend...Happy Birthday!
The freezer is my best friend! All veg, bread etc get chopped up and popped in there - we use the bread crusts from the freezer for toast - always been frugal with food - love these videos Lisa :-)
Loved this video Lisa ❤️ so many helpful tips and tricks. You need to write a lifestyle book or something!!!! We definitely need to be more Lisa especially after our huge shopping bill this week 🙈. But definitely yes to saltanas in curries!!!!!! And I've always fried up little ends of onions and freeze them to sprinkle on top of a curry too. Left over bits of pepper/onions I always freeze and sprinkle some fajita mix on them so it's nice and quick I do also pre cut my chicken too, all the prep takes up time when busy working or in and out with kids clubs etc. X

Yes, we've noticed that too. I tend to empty and keep in containers in the fridge. I agree with you.

Thanks. I wish we had the food waste bins too. My Mum has them too x

Tanks so much Sarah. Such a great idea to use your onions up in that way. Thanks for sharing x
I do Lisa put broccoli stalks in the green bin.
I think it makes sense too x
I slice up lemons that are starting to turn and pop in a container in freezer then use them as lemon slices in cocktails
Such a great idea x
May I ask how you did the pickled cucumber?
