2010 Kawasaki Z1000 My 1000cc Daily Commute Bike

- A quick overview of a 2010 Kawasaki Z1000, which I just bought for my daily commute to work.
Compare to my old Sprint RS, the Z1000 have much more low/mid range torque and throttle response is smoother. The 4 cylinder engine also feels more smooth than the triumph triple.
MPG is bad, only about 30 mpg in all city riding. Most 1000cc bikes, you gonna have this kind of mpg if you ride in the city. On the highway, the bike can go up to 35mpg.
The suspension is firm and sports bike like, with full compression/rebound and preload adjustment up front, and rebound/preload adjustment in the rear.
The bike overall feels lighter than my old Sprint RS and is a joy to ride around town because the center of gravity is lower than the Sprint RS.
On the hwy there is just way too much wind from lack of fairings on Z1000, even with an aftermarket extended windshield, the wind still hits hard on your helmet/face.
If you can find a good deal on Z1000, at sub $4000, this is a super fun liter naked bike for city riding (may even be a bit of an overkill).

Hey. I’m watching the video and you have a twin brother z1000. I changed mine a little. The bottom fairing in front of the exhaust pipes I painted silver. Gives it a better two tone look and the profile is more defined. I can tell your really appreciative of this style bike. If the seat sits too downward in the front my fux was take the seat off and reinstall it only the back two screws let the front of the seat rest on top. Feels a lot better. Be safe
Love the new bike! I've been subscribed and watching your Rs videos for a while now and appreciate all the help with maintanence, having an '02 Rs myself. Sad to see it go but this bike looks like a monster! Have fun!
Thank you, the Triumph is actually pretty maintenance free if maintained well, it’s great for crunching hwy miles but in the city just don’t work well in stop and go traffic.
Li Fan Yeah, it's been holding up great for me thus far. Luckily I have a hwy commute currently but when the times comes to upgrade, I'll be looking at this bike for sure!

Looking at getting a 2010 Z1K. Found a 2010 in the same scheme as this one. Seems like the previous owner of the one in this video did some fairly tacky mods. That throttle stick would bug the hell out of me.

There isn't a hazard switch. The bike is heavy, I probably would have gone a lighter Z than 1000 because it's overkill on Miami local street riding

Nice bike. whats wrong with brake and clutch levers? Don't look bad in video
Thanks, they are cheap Chinese levers that the previous owner bought on eBay, the bolts do not hold the adjustable pin in place properly, the lever just squeaks when pressed, my hand hurts after using them because the lever is square shaped instead of the nice rounded shape of the stock levers. They just feel not right and cheap. They look nice but they are not as functional or comfortable as the stock levers, or compared to nice aftermarket levers like ASV levers.
I have a friend who had a cafe racer bike with exact same levers, the adjustable pin was broken just like the one on my bike, so I suspect it's a common occurrence for those Chinese levers.
And so are the mirrors, they are cheap eBay Chinese mirrors, they look nice but also does not hold the mirror in place properly and have extremely limited views.

If I remember correctly, it was zero gravity
did I miss the antitheft handle bar lock
It has one; you just turn your key all the way counterclockwise.
