Hell YES the painters need to pay for it. Maybe they'll learn a lesson from it and not make the same mistake on another roof.
Painters agreed to pay for it! Repairs getting done tomorrow. Will post an update
@@stormguys5968 Glad they took care of it.
@@stormguys5968 That's what General Liability insurance is for!
@@tommatthews9341 not really
The painter's need to pay for it 100% that's a new roof and they destroyed it and also it was leaking so possible drywall damage mold in the insolation who knows
@Brandon Traviss So says the painter lol .
"insulation"
Painters gotta pay for that… Beautiful home!
I agree
At first I was like $62k? Then after seeing it I was like yeah.
That roof is BEAUTIFUL!
Appreciate it!
Customers should pay for your repair and then they should work it out with the painters. In my 33 years if roofing I've seen this alot and the very same thing has happened to my roofs. Even if the shingles are replaced you're always going to be able to tell its been repaired and possibly cause more eye sores in the process. My advice would be to gently separate the layers and slip in tin shingles where the holes exist. As for the holes in the valley, they will need to be replaced.
Thats the painter’s problem now period!!!!!
My hats off to the shingle guys. I did roofing in Southeast Florida for 20 yrs. I would be pissed if someone was that dumb to do that. Unless the painter does roofing repairs he's got to pay.
The painting company will go out of business. If the home owner seen water marks, all the wet insulation has to be removed, mold will form. Then you either replace all the drywall or replace sections in the drywall. So said 60k roof and all the repairs the painting company is looking at 150k at least in repairs.
That's one nice lookin' roof. If the painters damage is the source of the leaks, absolutely it's on the painters. You can't be accountable for all the hacks who came after you finished your job.
Conclusion: Have the house painted before having the roof replaced
Painters called me yesterday and agreed to pay to have the damaged shingles repair
Well that's just poor scheduling they should've been before you. I know I would've wanted to so I didn't have to worry about anything on the roof. No tarps ect.
Normally I see siding and painters come in after the roof is put on.
Concrete -> framers -> house wrap & roof -> everything else
Depends what your written warranty covers as well
Got them Landmark Pro's on there boy...heck yeah I love Cainteed
Accountability! Make'em pay!
Hey bud. Roofer from baton rouge Louisiana. I make it my job, as the roofing contractor to make sure all items such as painting are taken care of before the roof replacement. Just so I don't get a call like your having.
No it shouldn't be your responsibility, but it will keep you from having to do repairs later down the road. And we all know repairs are a bitch after new shingles have adhered
Damn that roof looks good. Y'all do nice work. That shit costs $. Don't give it away for the painters mistakes!
100% charge the painters
I agree
Great video.
Wow! I'd be wrapping a couple of paint pails around some painters heads.
your screen name is appropriate
Another reason to document your work w pictures or video.
Chances are, the painters are neither licensed nor insured. A competent painter would not have ruined the roof. There's no excuse for this damage.
Good luck to the homeowners in getting reimbursed the costs of ALL inspections and repairs.
Found your leak. Oh ya have the painters replace what they destroyed. There was either a 16 or a 3" roofing nail right next to the board marks. All the scuffs are from shoes on a warm day. Pay the price for cougar paws. They will save you a ton of time and labor. Paint before you roof that way all that way painters can leave their jack boards. Tar the bottom of the jack boards then add your 16s. Pulling a few more 16s on tear off is worth the time for a roofer. I did it for my son in law a painter also. Painters must take a class on how to mess up a new roof.
I can’t speak for you where you’re located, but here in Florida OSHA would be all over us for crawling on a pitch like that with not even a thought of a harness!
Painters need to pay. I used to do forensic engineering inspections. 9 times out of 10, most of the problems, which were almost always water intrusion, were related to poor quality construction or some clueless contractor that came along and did work later on. Most of the roofs I've seen did not even have the under-layment overlapped on top of the eave flashing...it was tucked below it!
How do you get a job as a forensic engineering inspector? I useto work on roofs for like a year and know somewhat of the material. Currently jobless anything helps thanks!
@Brandon Travissdo u have a girl or wife named karen?
Anytime you have other trades on the roof someone should be there to photograph all work put down the protective measures for roof because as soon as there is no one watching the destruction starts cameras and damage deposits are good.
Owners should file with their homeowners ins. Then let the insurance co. fight the painters.
It's like the sheet rockers and bath tubs on large projects.
Im surprised it leaked much been steeper. But holes in closed valley's are not good. Painter's should pay for damages.
Did you pledge O&P?
Nice work! Charge painters
I agree
Wow sweet roof
If the painters did it, I sure would hate to see the paint job. Looks like some Jake legs. You're work looks good. Good luck getting them to admit they did it.
Painters should pay. Costs of new roofs out of sight. Good luck recouping the cost for the damages.
I sure hope you don’t warrantee that work that’s 100% on those painters they should know better than to throw nails through Brand New shingles Plus the damage in the valleys are you got a good day in repair work there is have that home owner get a hold of the painter and have them pay for the damages
Painters damaged the roof, file a claim against the painters insurance company
They agreed to fix it and pay me for any damages. Roof has been repaired. Update coming soon.
@@stormguys5968 thank you for the reply
The painters gotta learn a lesson
I agree
What type of drone do y'all use for the aerial overviews.
Should add in an affiliate link in your description. :)
DJI Mavic air 2
@@stormguys5968 Awesome! Thank You!
No problem
I know a lot of roofers who would call that hail damage.
Also sequence of avants. The painters should have been done before the new roof was I stalled! It's not rocket science. Any chimney work should also be done be for new roof install. When roofing work so your not walking over the new installation. Some foot traffic can't be avoided. But with a little fore thought you can reduce a great amount of roof damage. This job smacks of a cheap contractor who refused to by the right equipment to properly do the job no ladder hook just drive a cleat though that brand new roof! Mind blowing!
How may square is that roof
Amazing roof. I myself prefer the aluminum roof.
Nothing like throwing a fellow contractor under the bus.
62 000 $ roof ? man i hope is made out of gold
Time to send your attorney this video and say "wait for the letters".
Why did you not give the names of painting company or names of painters?
They should have hired a Competent General Contractor and did the scheduling, do the paint before the new roof goes on.
I hope the Painter was insured, if not their homeowners insurance will be paying for another roof.
Definitely not a warranty issue, the painter needs to pay for it, I would get paid up front.
No, home insurance only responds to covered perils, e.g. fire, wind, hail, lightning. A contractor damaging a roof is not a covered peril on a home policy. If anything, it is a property damage claim on the painting contractors GL policy, granted they have one.
Back charge painters
I agree
Oh geez what a mess
A bell hook and pads on the roof side of the ladder could of saved those painters SOME GRIEF lol
Painters for sure
Marks are probably air hose being drug across the roof and that's crazy
With roofs. If you put a hole in it, you got to leave the piece in it , so it won't leak. Or a screw or nail. Still unexcepical.
Painters got to pay for the damage on roof and any water damage to the inside
Painters should pay 100%. With costs on everything being so high, and labor, maybe you'll comp it for them. It was a big job
Why don’t they paint before you did the roof. Did you know there was going be some painting being done. The roof wasn’t leaking after you completed your job. Ok . Tell the owner to call the painter, show them the damage that was done to a new roof. If you repair the roof, you have to charge the owner, the owner can bill the painter or take them to court. No free ride
These roofs are so flimsy as to be a joke. Any weight on them they are ruined , they are basically mats with tar adhesive on the back. Not allowed in the UK.
Who ever hired the painters need to pay for the repairs and they need to go after the painters to pay.
Thats not a warranty issue.
Send the homeowner a quote for repair and tell them to make the painters pay for it
Glad I don't own a home! These roofing problems create expenses owners never imagined. My sister is selling her new built home (4 1/2 years old) and finds out the shingles are bad and roof needs replaced, contractor used defective Malarky shingles when they built the house! Looking at a $13,000.00 bill unless manufacturer of shingles covers the replacement. Glad I rent!
Those guys doing that damage on every job they work on? Sure they should pay for it.
Painter for sure
That's why you paint before you roof
Yeah…that’s on the painters
I agree
Reveals are showing everywhere on that roof. Quality isn't that great... Coming from an experienced roofer here in Massachusetts.
Painters pay for it, but doesn't look too bad to repair.. so either way..
Insurance company should sue the painters to recoverr redo roof if they paid to paint due to hail daamage
Painters pay!
Make the painters pay
It's called a ladder roof hook!
The painters are paying for a new roof they did they are responsible.
Painters have to pay for this 100%
Minimum damage slap some threw the roof on it and move on.
You see, I own this roof for the next 2 years. So, if anything happens to it, I have to pay for it. If it leaks inside the home and onto the heart of pine wood floors and causes damage, I have to repair that. If black mold arises and causes health issues, it’s on me. It would not be a smart business decision to “slap some threw the roof on it and move in” (whatever the hell that means)…
Sounds like the painting company is going to pay for a new roof.
62,000 roof and it looks like a $10,000 job
If you can do 137sq for $10k, then do it lol
Mac u don't have a clue on what material ,labor, and getting rid of trash cost. 10,000 what a joke dude.
Those are landmark pros huh.?
Painters own the problem. They pay
painters should pay
Painter pay not warranty work
Make the painters pay for it
Painters fault, they should pay to repair the roof
Document your work before and after if your ever working on other peoples property
Make the painters pay for it smh
Painters,$$$$
Painters need to pay for it entirely.
100% painter need to replace .
Paint first maybe
Painters pay
Should of scheduled better the roof cap could of been pre painted. But overall it's the painters who damaged the roof so they should be charged depending on how much the repair entails. If it's just sealing up a couple holes I would still charge the home owner but it's up to the home owner to recoup that money from the painting company or general contractor if they only dealt with 1 guy who oversaw the whole job. Painters could of easily put something under the feet of the ladder to keep from gouging the roof and should of sealed any holes made with roofing sealant. It's pretty standard practice for them to put those boards up since they need a stable platform to do their job from and those mats you showed are ok for a person but not when you need something to soundly hold tools they needed to use
Put some permanent anchors for safety ropes then maybe you’d could avoid future ladder issues. Just sayin. I know it up and beyond service but think of the next guy or even yourself if you ever called back to a job.
I have been roofing for 16 years u make the painters pay for that I had the same thing 2years ago they payed stupid painters
Painters 100%
Should had the stupid painter painted before you guys install the shingles
I think it should be covered under your warranty! Oh I’m sorry that’s what the dick head painters were thinking, trash the roof get paid let the homeowner sue you for substandard work! Seriously beautiful roof your Team worked hard on this roof only to have Joe-Dick Student Painting Company disrespectful. Please add at least 25% for R&R materials.. beer…1/2 side beef, full pig, all the trimmings….
Free paint job because they'll have to pay
Holy shit. I'd beat the breaks off the painter. Should know better.
I'd make the f'n painters pay
Update coming soon
With a claim like that, you do the other work first. Roof last. You are not a roofer, or even a good contractor. I seen that right off. Anyone else?
62000 dollar roof. What's it made of hold. Overpriced u r
No disrespect but damn that young man shouldn’t be on that roof with dock shoes. He might be brave and tough, he won’t be either he falls off. It just doesn’t paint a good professional example for the industry and show a high intelligence level.
We’ve talked about it in the past. He put cougar paws on and dam near fell off immediately. He’s been roofing for 21 years and said that’s how he feels most comfortable.
cougar paws or a GOAT... lol even y'all are dumb for not using them on a new roof in the hot sun.
