Hey Brother, I'm not a roofer but I work in the construction industry, and I think this is a great video. First of all, the pride that you take in your craft and the amount of "care" you demonstrate in doing the job "right", is rare but encouraging. I always love seeing someone who still takes pride in their work. It's obvious that you not only know what needs to be done, but you also care enough to make sure it is done correctly. Secondly, your willingness and desire to share your knowledge, is the mark of a true and confident professional. Since graduating from UGA in 2003, I've worked in multiple industries but unfortunately, one thing that I've seen across the board, is an unwillingness of people to share their knowledge and/or their techniques with others that work for the same company and/or are new to the industry. In most of these instances it is because these people are so insecure that they worry someone else may be just a little bit better than them at something. As I said, it takes a self-confident professional with a true passion for their craft, to share their technique and implore other's to utilize it. Thank you again for the great video and for the quality work that you do.
its just remarkable the amount of negativity a person gets for being proud of his job. Crazy how we should help motivate as a human race but instead we talk down no matter what even if its your own family. good job man if roofs are safe from leaks your doing great
The. negativity comes from the self imposed title and lablr of FASTEST ROOFER EVER OMG clickbait type shit. Any roofer worth his salt in sweat knows he’s just doing it good
Why so many thumbs down? I thought this man did a great job.People saying roofing is not hard work.Really! You should try putting on a 2 story with high pitch.I live in Beaumont Texas and in the summer time your shoes almost melt.
Mhmm it was a good video to showcase where to place your bundles so you have them ready and not tripping over crap to get a shingle. Also explains why and where you want to fire your nail into the shingle.
I would love to be in the fastest shingler contest, shingling is so easy it's a warmup to me 🤭 I've been doing roofing for 20yrs now off and on since working with my Grandfather's company back in 2000 when I was just 12yrs old. Grandfather got diagnosed with Alzheimers while I was still in school in 2007. Cousin took over the family business and it's still going til this day. Next year will be 50yrs since my Grandfather started the company, he would be proud of the roofer I have become today.
I've been a roofer for 33 yrs, Eric your one of the best on the tube. Kills me when shingles call them selfs roofers. I've noticed you do it all... a true roofer!!
Respect, you know your job very well and actually think ahead. I seen a lot of people just messing up with even the basics of preparations. The world needs more hard workers that are as skilled as you are.
Man is trying to demo METHOD, not SPEED. Speed comes with METHOD practice. He's also trying to direct video for clarity, to TRAIN those with ZERO practice nor method. Multi-tasking, and doing it fast. When you get good, you JUST DO IT. It becomes breathing.
He does fast work. His shingles are out of line by 1/8 to 1/4 of an inch and his nail line is crooked and if you look you can see he does not follow his own advice. Maybe this roof will last 25 or 30 years at best. The one I put on my own house 36 years ago looks brand new today and the one my grandfather put on his roof in 1915 is still in good condition and neither his nor mine has ever leaked and that is the most important function of any roof. Roofers today rarely warranty their work for more than ten years and few last more than 30 because of sloppy work and taking short cuts.
Louis B have you done roofs in the uk? The type of roofing on this video is easy and they are crap, they look like they would only get 20years out of them shingles. Try doing a roof in Yorkshire stone or west moorland slate then you will know what roofing is about.
I wish I had seen this before I nailed 28 squares by myself. It took me over a week. Your technique of progressing diagonally is very efficient. Thanks for your video.
@@davebrakefield161 Exactly lol. I can't express the roofs I see homeowners and many other "roofers do". I definitely am faster than this guy, but I'm 27.
I work at Diamond Pacific as a roofing specialist great video not only did you show your skill but explaining two amateurs all the details as important thank you for your time
Great video and work. Do not pay attention to the haters. I am a white conservative that would rather have hard working people like you in our country than the millions of lazy Americans that are too lazy to work. You are not only welcome here but needed.
when you get legal pay taxes like the rest of us then your welcome here till then go back to your country. My job is to make sure you do one way or the other
Sohail Ghani well if they buy products in the usa with us currency they are paying taxes. doesnt matter if youre illigal or not, you make a transaction here in the usa.. you bet your ass youre paying taxes
I am Mexican and I have no idea how I arrived at this channel. I was watching asteroids in the sky come February and next thing I know I'm watching roofing videos. WTF? ¡Adios!
+JJ Botch I always laugh at the schools today. The kids cant have recess outside because some bureaucrat decided it was too hot. If they were at home the kids would be outside! Right across the street will be a roofing crew working mid day, Texas sun. No work, no pay simple as that.
+CncObsession Right! Like all the Facebook posts I see saying "If it's to cold to be outside without a coat then it's too cold for your dog." That makes me laugh. Obviously it's some pencil head who has never seen a husky or malamute(sp)in Alaska.
You’re exactly right people don’t understand that you’re suppose to hold nail back on Seam. So many people nail right close to Seam drives me insane, the nails will rust the heads and leak and it doesn’t take long
This is exactly the way I shingle. The only way to shingle this fast is to never but the gun down, and your advice to put the nail on the line is precisely what makes his work quality. Unfortunately, few shingle manufacturers, very fee contractors and even fewer roofers give a damn where the nail is. High nailing will cause shingles to slide within 7 years, but you can not file a manufacturer’s claim.
In this video: I was trying to show the technique we use to set the shingles in place ,so you don't have to drop the gun every time you use both hands to set the shingle in place, I've seen many roofers working on their knees , setting the shingles before they make the video, in this video i didn't set up anything, i just opened the shingles and set them to my left, my left hand is the one that grabs them and my right hand holds the nail gun to help align them in place, it looks so simple but i would love to see many of the guys that use both hands to just set the shingles in place, trying to do what i do in the video. Also i was nailing at slower pace trying to show the nail patern, by the way the shingles are from Owens Corning true defintion, they come in a bundles and they're set up like you see in the bundle, 1 shingle is upside down and the other is not, so you have to flip every other one . sorry for the many haters that are missing the big picture here, I'll make another video showing the different techniques on how to install shingles. thanks for watching!!! Eric Garcia.
I use to tell my crews same thing nail right then get fast I don’t lay my gun down and I place all 5 nails the same apart your 3-4th nails are close to each other and I’m faster I did 6sq in 32mins with a pipe and half of the wall to cut I can hand drive 3sq hour constantly if you have a good thrower you can go faster and torch down I love but mope down I’ve done my share you can have it I seen a kettle blow up on a guy it’s not pretty I’ve seen people hurry and splash people not good I’ve done tin shacks I still like shingles I’ve been luck to work some old Victorian homes with shingles that haven’t been sold in 60years found in wear houses stored up left overs like the diamond shingle they first came out with and them tiger striped shingles most people don’t see them unless you take of a 3-4payer roof out in Virginia and places like that when you buy a gun take the shit of the bottom makes gun faster don’t bottom out or snag on you and it’s not all in how fast you shot it it’s how fast u lay it on key that wins the race every time
I LOVE the idea of holding the nail gun to the edge of the reveal so you know you tab is lined up properly. I'm doing 15 square today by myself and going to try your trick!
I've been looking at roofing videos all morning long to help me learn how to shingle a shed. Here is what I have learned through all the comments I've read. 1. Absolutely NO one does it the same way 2. Absolutely EVERYONE is doing something wrong 3. There are a lot of uneducated people in the business and the industry has a huge training/educational issue 4. I have less and less confidence in the roofing industry
It's Great to see someone who takes Pride in their work and who will share some tricks of the trade to help everyone be more productive. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
Really fast and accurate. Wish I could nail just half as fast as you do. Thanks for sharing your video. I am going to practice just the way you do it. Ernie
Ernie Hooker Ernie, when he says nailing he doesn't mean what your last name entails. Hooking and rooftop nailing are different my friend. Have a nice day
I dont miss roofing - but this white guy sure does miss working with some of the funniest, best hispanic workers ever. Fun ass times on and off the roof.
Yeah, they should get out there and make someone else richer?... work doesn't pay any more in my country. You make more money just by owning property than you do working lol
As a concrete Mason I've seen a lot of roofers and this guy is one of the better ones. Very conscious about doing the job right. Definitely a subcontractor that I would hire.
Hi Eric, I appreciate your video. Thank you for helping others learn something. I'm a gal and I roofed for a year and a half(loved it!). I'm always trying to find the the fastest way to do the job. I call it " Economy of Motion" :-) I really love the trades. Plumbing, Electrical, Construction, Mechanics, Gardening, Etc,....(I'm a welder). Thanks for having your head on straight and having your heart in the right place. That's what really matters. God bless you and your family!!!
Saileen Cruileen Very kind comment Saileen. So you're a Jill of all trades are you? I knew a gal about 30 years ago that was an auto mechanic and I don't mean a tune up girl. She rebuilt motors trasmissions and rear ends like a factory pro! It's good to know many trades.
Please viewers...get the main idea, this video was made with the purpose to show the technique on how to set the shingles faster with the tip of the nail gun, i can nail way faster than that, but I'm not here to show you all my arsenal, I'm here to show the basics of the roofing trade. thank you everyone. Eric
give this guy some respect guys. he did nothing wrong but show how fast he can roof. and all you guys bragging that your faster, get a life and stop bragging. and you could be lying.
Thanks for your video Eric. I love seeing other people do a great job at anything they use for an income and proud to show others how they do it. Keep up the great work sir!!
Using the gauge is the correct way my man. I show my guys this and they look at me like I'm holding a hair drier. Been doing it this way for 20+years. I'm faster than all my guys that set the gun down each single. For an hour or so... then I'm out, Boss man's got to go! Good video bro!
@@mikeschafer4440 it's a guide underneath the nail gun. I think it should be at 5 5/8" from the top to the guide for nailing most architectural. Bostich nailers have an easy adjust that's really close. Look it up on UA-cam. They'll have it
I've seen a lot of people roof and your way is quick people are just talking shit about it cause they know nothing as long as you set yourself up were everything is in order or getting your ducks in a row then your gonna be quick. Good Job👍👍
I agree and he looks like hes chill and not even trying while many other guys claiming to be the fastest do much worse work and look like they are on the struggles.
I've been roofing on and off since I started at the age of 13. Back then it was done by hand. No roofing guns. I've done it like you. The only difference is I lay out my shingles opposite of the way you do it. Good video. Thanks
I l9ve it when people take pride in their work. I have more respect for him than most people that works a desk job. This is a skill. Too much emphasis being placed on degrees.
You are clearly a talented man and do a good job but what surprises me is that a technologically advanced country is using this as a roof covering. In the U.K that stuff would only be used on a garden shed but in the America and Canada it is used on expensive houses.
Yea replacing roofs is the norm here. Probably have to replace a roof every 10- 20 years but it only takes a few days to do it. Maybe a week if you have a larger house
Skill Builder but house are also a lot less money... and you can pick whatever materials you want if you have a house built vs buying an already built one
Almost always it is clay or concrete tiles or natural slates. The roof pitch needs to be steeper and the structure stronger but you get a 100 years out of a roof.
chad yeager I was hearing Who Framed Roger Rabbit "shave and a hair cut" I kept waiting for a giant cartoon rabbit to bust through the roof and sing "two bits!"
Thank you for this video, I live in Canada and I have to do my roof again after 18 years. The contractor was using the IKO shingles on my roof and I was told that the product has 25 years of warranty, however, the shingles on the sunny side started to fall apart already after 18 years. I have contacted IKO and they are offering me the warranty reimbursement ONLY if I use their shingles again. My question is what is the normal lifespan for the shingles in general? How good these IKO shingles in comparison to the other brands?
Thank you for making this video and sharing your experience with us. Its nice when people help out the do it yourself (DYI)community. I will be giving back as well and will submit a video on replacing a attic fan motor from the inside of the attic. its actually an easy job when you have all the right tools and techniques to get the job done.
you'd be even faster if you lay the bundles right way up,not backwards.and some friendly advice....standing on the loose shingles is a good way to go flying off a roof!.
I found how you layed them fine, takes more time to lay everything out perfectly so in piles like that also makes sure u can grab from the same pile for fair bit ways up the roof. For me personally i go fast but not super fast but the thing i pride myself on is a consistent speed all day and i think that is the most important part.
your dumb, most shingles come that way, you would have to go thru then and flip em and on a got day they would stick, the way he is doing it is fine just not fast at all
I haven't met any roofer yet that nail every nail perfect, we are not robots, i can tell that my nailing is 90% perfect, i can pass any city inspection or architectural inspection, you might see the nails deep but Thats the angle of the camera, have a Nice day!
I agree fully, every roofer will have the odd nail not where it should be but for the most part the good roofers all the jobs pass and a lot of coverage gets layed quickly. ofc us roofers are usually the least appreciated in the trades.
Nicholas Carter haha my dad says that too and still almost does that at 61, he hates the gun. I couldn't use a nailer untill I learnt how to hand nails fast.
youtube: 2013: nah 2014: nope 2015: no thank you 2016: NAHH 2017: hmmm not this year 2018: should i??? nah 2019: WATCH THIS GUY ROOF A HOUSE AS FAST AS HE CAN!!!!
Well said my friend. Straight and to the point. I run my own remodeling company, tile is my main trade, done roofing maybe 3 times in my life and HATED it...but just watching how easy you make it look.. k think I'ma switch it up👍👍👌🙌 🤔💥... * Now I got a helper too 😉
Great videos, Eric. I'm not a roofer, but I just did a 16 square house by myself after struggling the first few weeks to overcome a fear of heights. I've watched a bunch of your videos for tips and tricks. My one question, though, how the heck do roofers learn to nail so fast?! It took me like 2 hours a square 🤣
I'm glad you did it...roofers are expensive...it takes time. Dedication and work ethics to be a good one... I don't know if I'm a good one but...im trying to be one. Thanks for watching !! Eric Garcia
If you turn the bundle the other way you don't have to spin each shingle. Also leave the far nail out and nail it when you nail the butt joint. That way you have a shorter nail pattern for better speed and accuracy.
you're supposed to take the plastic sure nail strip off exposing the tar strip underneath creating a water proof seal aslo preventing the shingle tabs from tearing in high winds
Jack Glessner ..that strip is to keep shingles from sticking together in a bundle and it doesn't need to be removed at install. At least that's how GAF shingles work.
yes it stays on until the install..the purpose of the tar under the plastic strip is a moisture barrier to keeping the roof from leaking and to keep the shingles from tearing in the wind.. i went to school for roofing a siding and was a subcontractor and co-owner for many years. I never got a service call for leaks
Every manufacturer has information on this subject. I'll save you the trouble; GAF's instructions are below. You can also go here to learn more..inspectapedia.com/roof/Shingle_Cellophane.php www.gaf.com/Warranties_Technical_Documents/Steep_Slope_Technical_Advisory_Bulletins/English_Bulletins/Clear_Plastic_Release_Film_Leave_on_or_Take_Off_Steep_Slope_Technical_Point_TAB_R_2011_106.pdf
i like the bundles flipped and right besides me . i used to run a 2 stagger pattern , now i run columns with a 3 stagger pattern, my feeder keeps up just as quick as i hammer down
my first boss taught us to become fast with our hammer, my second boss put emphasis on getting quick with the gun sooner then later therefore puttin us on it right away for prep and shingling . i rather my first boss's way as their is less clutter around without the hoses , and my absolute genious labourers are in the trailor trying to find shit or figuring out how to run a compressor lolol
please read I know you were showing off your speed but you gave a lot of good tips. I think it would be cool if you did a video on how to start the shingles and how you finish the peek of the roof. you showed the middle very well in that quick clip but just need the start and finish the peek with the tips of the trade in between like you did here. I know the basics but I am always looking to learn more and learn new tips and tricks. hope you make one. thanks
Hi, I think you do a great job. Looks great and it's waterproof. That's all that matters. Keep the videos coming. I'm a rookie, but I'm learning daily. I live in Ohio and roof all year long.
Just like racing, straight aways are free, well that's where the money is. As a builder I would watch roofers get to the valleys and overhangs. That's where the talent really comes in. Awesome work boys, don't let up.
Good job Brother. That has to kill your back . I always used knee pads and worked on my knees . I could do 15 to 18 squares a day new construction back in the 1980’s making $10.00 a square. Made a lot more money doing counter flashing brick walls and chimneys and flashing curb mounted skylights .i am still in the business after all these years working in sales now .
These shingles are made with a strip that is called sure nail strip, this is to secure the shingles to the roof deck , it dont matter in this case, when you dont have it , you have to adjust your pressure to a 100psi, to prevent this problem.
sealtite904 I think the manufacturers only have such a small nailing target because... aggghhh.. they call the contractor onto the floor and blame him for any problems if they blow off or leak. Those reinforced nail strips are a bear, though they make easy targets. My guys hate Owens Corning with the Sure Nail strip I guess because they are hard to pull off if they make a mistake? Maybe harder to cut? I will have to ask them. jajaja If I nail shingles (rare occasions), I like the obvious target to make it easier. I have seen so many bad roofers not know where to nail properly that it gets old training them.
uruiamnot Actually there is a hook blade that cuts them like paper, they sell at home depot in a package of 100 , they last more than the hook blades the roofing supplier sell. Try them , you might like them.
Are they something like Talon brand? I can't remember, but I think a lot of times I just use whatever is on sale for hook blades. But no, I just don't know why my guys don't like OC shingles with the sure nail strip. Everyone around here uses Tamko well over half the time. I think it's just what has been around the longest and what people get used to.
I'm a 35yr remodeler, although I have no idea about roofing. It is good to see business owners who are very proud of their life's career and the work that they do. I did subscribe to your channel, for work on my roof. Too bad you're not in my area, I'd just go ahead and pay your crew to do the job..

This guy knows what he is talking about. Real pro techniques. Placement of bundles and everything.
Great video man.
SauronSatan that all is common sense imo , great job to say the least
It becomes breathing.
who cares Mexicans, whites, or whatever a man good at his trade and honesty is all that matters. Sir you do good work
He does fast work. Roofers today rarely warranty their work for more than ten years and few last more than 30 because of sloppy work and taking short cuts.
great way to get it done faster!!! i would have a Spanish roofer do my work any day!!! fast with quality work!!!!
quality ha.....
Donnie Turgeon IDK why you are laughing. Many Hispanic roofers like Eric are better since they've been doing this for years.
Donnie Turgeon hating ass bitch
Russell Walton you Son of a bitch fuck you douche bag
Jose Reyna why am i a son of a bitch? lol
Dam this guy is good, I've tried roofing once, it's some hard ass work. Appreciate the video
Hard work😂😂😂 try doing roofing in England basically this type of roofing is for pussys
@@gaza19661310 roofing is easy in the uk as well as i have to do roofing
garth walliam lmao if the uk can do it anybody can
Bryan well said
Louis B have you done roofs in the uk? The type of roofing on this video is easy and they are crap, they look like they would only get 20years out of them shingles. Try doing a roof in Yorkshire stone or west moorland slate then you will know what roofing is about.
Good old Mexican labor. We'd be lost without guys like this!
I wish I had seen this before I nailed 28 squares by myself. It took me over a week. Your technique of progressing diagonally is very efficient. Thanks for your video.
That's a days work for a real shingler. Homeowners should never do their own roof.
@@davebrakefield161 Exactly lol. I can't express the roofs I see homeowners and many other "roofers do". I definitely am faster than this guy, but I'm 27.
i really like how your bundles were laid out. great video.
Timothy Webb me too well organized
Omg
I work at Diamond Pacific as a roofing specialist great video not only did you show your skill but explaining two amateurs all the details as important thank you for your time
Great video and work. Do not pay attention to the haters. I am a white conservative that would rather have hard working people like you in our country than the millions of lazy Americans that are too lazy to work. You are not only welcome here but needed.
when you get legal pay taxes like the rest of us then your welcome here till then go back to your country.
My job is to make sure you do one way or the other
Mark Watt illegals pay taxes too so... your argument is invalid
How do you know who pays taxes and who doesn't?
Sohail Ghani well if they buy products in the usa with us currency they are paying taxes. doesnt matter if youre illigal or not, you make a transaction here in the usa.. you bet your ass youre paying taxes
"white preservative" so your saying your better than everyone else
I am Mexican and I have no idea how I arrived at this channel. I was watching asteroids in the sky come February and next thing I know I'm watching roofing videos. WTF? ¡Adios!
Bro I feel you!! LOL hahahahaha
Ambrose Rodriguez bro I was watching boxing and idk how I ended up here😂😂😂
Ambrose Rodriguez lol
Ambrose Rodriguez Tu madre
me 4 wtf....
impressive, all that in the hot sun hunched over all day. my hat is off to all roofers!
+JJ Botch
I always laugh at the schools today.
Or they are in Houston thinking its cold! The tasty animal has fur ;-)
Tiling here in Australia is x10 worse but hats off to these lads at least they've got their backs in to it 👍
if you mark this singles time to go home
Damn fine job sir and what makes it so good is that you take pride in your work...that's a lost attribute in today's world...Great job.

I,will use that on my next roof..
thanks for posting..
Your slow fool lol
He went below the nail strip, pendejo
I use the same technique gauging with the gun on the one end- only way to do it lol
I LOVE the idea of holding the nail gun to the edge of the reveal so you know you tab is lined up properly. I'm doing 15 square today by myself and going to try your trick!
why such a high rate of thumbs down? i guess roofers are like guitar players- they can always do it better than the other guy.
Big respect, that's hard work man
I've been looking at roofing videos all morning long to help me learn how to shingle a shed. Here is what I have learned through all the comments I've read.
1. Absolutely NO one does it the same way
2. Absolutely EVERYONE is doing something wrong
3. There are a lot of uneducated people in the business and the industry has a huge training/educational issue
Ernie
Ernie Hooker accurate? Check 3:42.... exposed nail, no?
Ernie Hooker Ernie, when he says nailing he doesn't mean what your last name entails.
Hooking and rooftop nailing are different my friend.
Have a nice day
i see it. it will be a shiner when he puts the next layer on. nothing a little black jack wont fix but yes i see it.
I dont miss roofing - but this white guy sure does miss working with some of the funniest, best hispanic workers ever. Fun ass times on and off the roof.
All the people trashing him for being a hard working American, and sharing his tips with the world need to get out there and work.

Hi Eric,
I appreciate your video.
?'ll?'ll::).c.?11.::).c14th?k.i
Saileen: My Hapkido master used that term all the time..."economy of motion." Martial artists use it constantly to get one-up on their opponent.
Please viewers...get the main idea, this video was made with the purpose to show the technique on how to set the shingles faster with the tip of the nail gun, i can nail way faster than that, but I'm not here to show you all my arsenal, I'm here to show the basics of the roofing trade.
thank you everyone.

Im not a roofer im a fence installer in houston Texas . Roofing is hard work and so is fencing
Julio Lopez that ain't shyt try working in building grain bins and masonry u won't last a day if u think roofing and fencing is hard work
give this guy some respect guys. he did nothing wrong but show how fast he can roof. and all you guys bragging that your faster, get a life and stop bragging. and you could be lying.
529alex 123 correction probably lying
What do they have to do for you to consider them to "have a life" No one ever thinks that part through.
Thanks for your video Eric. I love seeing other people do a great job at anything they use for an income and proud to show others how they do it. Keep up the great work sir!!
His name is Ramon
Using the gauge is the correct way my man. I show my guys this and they look at me like I'm holding a hair drier. Been doing it this way for 20+years. I'm faster than all my guys that set the gun down each single. For an hour or so... then I'm out, Boss man's got to go!
Good video bro!
What's the gauge?

Also would like to say i really like his attitude and enjoy working with people like this.

Thanks for the demonstration. It's nice to get some info on how to install. Love the professional work.
Totally professional roofing technique's taught by an experienced talented roofer ! This method works !
Im not a roofer, but my wife says im a great "nailer"
does she though?
She was just trying to be kind...
That's cool. Nothing wrong with doing your wives' nails if you're into that bro.
Yeah, she said it about me too.
They all say that until the divorce.
I’m DIY on top of my roof right now. All I needed was this video, I’m ready! Wish me luck 🍀
You are clearly a talented man and do a good job but what surprises me is that a technologically advanced country is using this as a roof covering. In the U.K that stuff would only be used on a garden shed but in the America and Canada it is used on expensive houses.
Indeed, this is how we keep our economy strong, you have to buy a new roof every 20 years, new material, labor, trucks, gasoline, land fill, etc.
What is it that you use in the UK?
Almost always it is clay or concrete tiles or natural slates. The roof pitch needs to be steeper and the structure stronger but you get a 100 years out of a roof.
His nailer sounds like the Terminator theme. Bad ass and bueno trebajo or however work is spelled in spainish.
chad yeager g
chad yeager
I was hearing Who Framed Roger Rabbit "shave and a hair cut" I kept waiting for a giant cartoon rabbit to bust through the roof and sing "two bits!"
Should play the terminator theme on loop for motivation nailing along to it.
Do 2 - 3 in the same rows going up
More coverage !
Other than that your layout and skills are on point !!!
Good job amigo !
No cuz then ur walking back and fourth more guy
you'd be even faster if you lay the bundles right way up,not backwards.and some friendly advice....standing on the loose shingles is a good way to go flying off a roof!.
thank you sir, I'll take your advice
Farwest Twocord
yeah, you are right sir
I agree fully, every roofer will have the odd nail not where it should be but for the most part the good roofers all the jobs pass and a lot of coverage gets layed quickly. ofc us roofers are usually the least appreciated in the trades.
never seen single inspection.....lol

Backbone of our nation good job boys:)
Eric Garcia
Totally nailed it!
yes, I suppose he did
If you turn the bundle the other way you don't have to spin each shingle. Also leave the far nail out and nail it when you nail the butt joint. That way you have a shorter nail pattern for better speed and accuracy.
I challenge you amigo !!
do you live in So California?
Orange county o L.A ? how much you got on your pocket ?
I live in yuba only got a rack on it
Dj4lejanDRO ...what state do you live on?
Cali Holmes
Dj4lejanDRO
you're supposed to take the plastic sure nail strip off exposing the tar strip underneath creating a water proof seal aslo preventing the shingle tabs from tearing in high winds
Jack Glessner ..that strip is to keep shingles from sticking together in a bundle and it doesn't need to be removed at install. At least that's how GAF shingles work.
do not remove the sure nail reinforce strip... You will void the warranty. O/C Preferred Contractor
yes it stays on until the install..the purpose of the tar under the plastic strip is a moisture barrier to keeping the roof from leaking and to keep the shingles from tearing in the wind.. i went to school for roofing a siding and was a subcontractor and co-owner for many years. I never got a service call for leaks
Every manufacturer has information on this subject. I'll save you the trouble; GAF's instructions are below. You can also go here to learn more..inspectapedia.com/roof/Shingle_Cellophane.php

Your house is about to get fucked up.
Great video! Learn something new everyday. I've learned more from UA-cam and Google in less than 8 years. I am almost 43.
Good to know that !!
I usually have a guy feeding me shingles, i think it's faster, but again, that's my opinion,i might be wrong
i like the bundles flipped and right besides me . i used to run a 2 stagger pattern , now i run columns with a 3 stagger pattern, my feeder keeps up just as quick as i hammer down
you must be quick with the hammer then , I use a air gun, that's the way I learned on my apprentice days.
my first boss taught us to become fast with our hammer, my second boss put emphasis on getting quick with the gun sooner then later therefore puttin us on it right away for prep and shingling .
i rather my first boss's way as their is less clutter around without the hoses , and my absolute genious labourers are in the trailor trying to find shit or figuring out how to run a compressor lolol
eric garcia I'm not a full time roofer, but I agree having a guy feeding is the way to go.
please read I know you were showing off your speed but you gave a lot of good tips. I think it would be cool if you did a video on how to start the shingles and how you finish the peek of the roof. you showed the middle very well in that quick clip but just need the start and finish the peek with the tips of the trade in between like you did here. I know the basics but I am always looking to learn more and learn new tips and tricks. hope you make one. thanks
I was so convinced that I was a fast roofer until I watched this. Now I'm left feeling empty and purposeless. Does this life still have meaning?
You complete me- the Joker (I decided to take on darker role models since my post roofing crime days)
Good, good. You are now on your way to your destiny.
I feel really bad for laughing at this hysterically!
Here is a tip don't stand on shingles that aren't nailed in to the roof
There is no osha there.
Hi, I think you do a great job. Looks great and it's waterproof. That's all that matters. Keep the videos coming. I'm a rookie, but I'm learning daily. I live in Ohio and roof all year long.
when he is nailing it sounds like a song listen carefully
If I nailed my thumb five times, is that a bad thing?
It has the beat of the McDonald's comercial
Para pa pa pa I'm lovin it lmao 😂✌🏼️
I just did some Owens Corning oak ridge shingles for a contractor. Tiny nailing line too haha
sealtite904 I think the manufacturers only have such a small nailing target because... aggghhh.. they call the contractor onto the floor and blame him for any problems if they blow off or leak.
I think it's just what has been around the longest and what people get used to.
uruiamnot Tamko is crap. ;)
Ohhhh shiittt! I see all the experts who also happen to be the best and fastest in roofing are coming to this video and commenting
They all saw the title and thought it was gonna be about them.
