    Thank a million. I bought one and will install today to access a very steep gable and climb down from the top rood with my fall protection as I’m 66 years old. Work smart . Thank you for posting. You’ve given me the confidence to do it alone safely. God Bless

    Back in the late 80s and 90s installing metal roofs on steep pitches, we would strap two ladders together at ridge draping each side insalling both sides at one time. Put on two pans then bounce the ladder simultaneously accross to install two more. So on and so on. Worked out fantastic.

  • @warrendelay

    We old school roofers call that a chicken ladder. we used to build our own onto wooden ladders. No, it's not a reference to lack of nerve, it's referencing an old ladder you find in a chicken coop.

      It makes so much sense to take 2 minutes to install a ridge hook ladder to save a life or prevent getting hurt. 2 minutes total!

      Speaking for the chickens here, if you can get 3 feet off the ground, you’re a bad-ass.

    If it is not already noted the wheels ne to be bi directional not swivel as swivel wheels could cause your ladder to go sideways as you guild your ladder up or down the roof.

    • @akaredcrossbow
      @akaredcrossbow 2 роки тому +2

      Yes, very dangerous!
      The first thing I do is wrap electrical tape around the bottom of the caster so the wheels can’t swivel and potentially slide off the roof left or right.

    Nice video- yes, put your anchor point and harness on! You might also consider using permanent anchor points as part of your sales process. Buying them in bulk will get the price down to make it pretty reasonable to have permanent anchor points every 20' or so along the ridges. Homeowners might consider putting permanent anchors in for areas where they need to do frequent repairs.

    • @akaredcrossbow
      @akaredcrossbow 2 роки тому +5

      Imo permanent roof anchors should be a mandatory code. The homeowner needs to have them installed. New construction should be installed by law.

    • @sebastiantevel898
      @sebastiantevel898 Рік тому +1

      No one envisages to make frequent repairs. no one...
      On a different note... in some European countries permanent anchors are now required by code on new homes and after a full re-roofing.

    Good system, it makes the ladder looks like a firefighter hooked ladder that allows to climb hooking the ladder around windows stools.
    We used to climb several floors where there was not space or time to place a full truck with ladder. During my firemen times...
    Also... give a good shake to the hooked ladder before climbing over it, just to make sure is securely hooked to the ridge.

    I am 75 and getting noticeably weaker. The heavy ridge hooks atop the ridge ladder can take a lot to control, so I put the ridge ladder at the side of the climb ladder, then I climb and fit the hooks while I am at the top of the climb ladder... Easy. From there it is easy to run the ridge ladder up on its wheels.. I also used stainless 'anchor points' (home depot $3), screwed to the studs under the siding to fasten my ropes to. I use 2 anchor points to make sure.....

    A good design but those cheap butterfly nuts are inadequate for potential load. Replace with true nuts, doubled, and lose a small bit of convenience for increase in safety.

    • @alan2804
      @alan2804 2 роки тому +4

      The load is taken by the hooks around the rung and over the ridge. The wing nuts are only holding the wheels against the rung while you push the ladder up to the ridge.

    This vs the one with the pole hook and rope. Everything with the ladder design is forcing the hooks down. With the one with the rope, you get up close to it, and you are now possibly causing lifting and crap. You could go flying if that hook jumps off. The ladder you are standing on it driving it down.to stay hooked. The price point ladder with hooks wins.

    You can throw a rope clear over the ridge to the flip side to the ground and tie off to something on the ground. did I do that ? nope. I used roof jacks and plank at bottom run and stood a 6 ft step ladder against the roof and shuffle on up. and if need be, on a long rafter run, set another plank and drag step ladder up and repeat. But I'm 62 now, lost my equilibrium. But I'll tell ya,, I was a shingle slapping hand nailing fool for 40 years. Now I just talk shit.. lol..
