I prefer sound of a 12 over a 10 but the lfa is beautiful

Uhhh no, it's other way around, because inline-5s are way older and the V10 configuration is literally 2 inline-5s combined together.

One can hope.
They sure make it impossible to own and drive cars. Here in Sweden we pay over 1,7$ per litre (ca 5,1$ per gallon), and they recently suggested that we should double the price on gas by taxing it to the point of ridiculousness.

My both cars have 5 cylinders...
I'm American, and I drag race, so a V8 with a radical cam is the best sounding engine noise to me. However, the I5 is definitely a cool sounding powerplant, so I definitely get the fandom. I didn't think about them at all, until we had one in my wife's VW Jetta. It took the car from absolutely lame to something interesting. I had that thing in sport mode every time I drove it, which basically just raises shift points and holds gears longer. A manual would have made me love it. It had a cool growl that beat the hell out of the 4 cylinder option, and sounds better than the average V6 to me. I found it funny that the VW 2.5 was based on half of a Lamborghini Gallardo engine.

Cool thing is MK5 - MK6 Jettas have a 2.5L I5 engine that sounds amazing when straight piped.
07k engine - it's the same one used in the Audi RS3. It was only an engine option in American Jettas, us Europeans only got 07k engines in RS3s

I had my exhaust off and just the downpipe on my 1994 urs4. Went for a drive and got nice pops between shifts. Gotta love obd1 😉
The audi rs2 is one of my all time favorite cars!
Love the older ones, all the new ones with snap, crackle & pop "maps" sound terrible.
Also because they're all stupid automatics. Older ones are all manuals - no fart effects.
@Fried Pinguin Yeah, those had a purpose. Keeping the turbo spooled when off the gas. Anti-lag.
Now it's just a fake remap to sound "cool". But like fake exhaust pipes, it's cheap.
Anyone who likes the fake pops and bangs on the modern Audi's, which do not sound half as good as the old 2.1/2.2 engines, doesn't really like cars.

After_Midnight “stupid automatics” he says😆 they’re all dsg’s, which if you do your research, is one hell of a transmission. Get out the stereotypical “car guy who only likes manual” mindset and realize what your talking down. The dual clutch that vw/Audi builds is insane, and far from a “stupid transmission”. If anything, nowadays manuals are that poorer option, as you have to shift yourself which doesn’t allow for maximum performance from the car. Yes I agree, manuals are super fun to drive, but give yourself a reality check😂

@@sumalei Not an IMSA GTO (even though it was inspired by one), but the 1992 Audi S4 GTO (C4) which raced in South Africa's "Wesbank Modified Saloons Championship" in the early 90s.

My favourite engine to ever exist is the Lamborghini V10 (both the 5.0 and the 5.2), and this just sounds like a more timid version of that and I absolutely love it. Would buy one in a heartbeat.

The ttrs needs to rev upto 8000rpm like the Quattro s1 e2 cause it feels like they change gear when the engine begins to make that lovely 5 cyl sound we all love
