Great interview. I hadn't seen any with Tim Riley before this. Good to hear some of his thoughts on the business/song selection etc....he is one of, if not THE best bass vocalist around in Southern Gospel. When George Younce was around, I would've put Tim 2nd, but now......he's #1.
I totally agree when at 4:24 Riley says "repetition",. Repetition is what we see in most of all music and hymns today. Some singers including christian singers in the market today just sing over and over the same two or three phrases that they call "music" or "hymn" Good statement, Riley
@justinlee827 Agreed 100%. I'm not big on comparisons, but in this case, it's crystal clear IMHO. Just listen to Tim speak. Purge, unadulterated, smokin' bass. A lot of these guys speak like anyone, and can somehow push out low notes. They sound good, don't get me wrong, but I'll always take a guy like this that sings a low G as well as he speaks it. Both great, though!
