Nice pieces I have a few similar to yours and have my eye on a couple I want to add to my collection. I new to this although my parents had a huge collection of art glass it didn't wow me until later in life.
Pretty much every collection I have is thrift store, garage sale, etc. finds. I do own one piece of Murano where it took a little more of an investment, and I'll be showing it in part 2 at some point.
I am now over 70 years of age. I have collected all types of Italian and Scandinavian class throughout my lifetime. I enjoy seeing how happy your collection makes you. Just remember, it's never too early to start thinking about what will become of your collection in the future. It has me totally stumped.😢
Thank you. It is a lot of fun. I have collections of all types and they can be overwhelming. There are many outlets for selling it all off when the time comes, and hopefully it won't be anytime soon.
Hey buddy awesome video some of the ashtrays you showed in the beginning are also called svuota tasche wich means empty pockets it was meant for you to put your coins wallet and what not ,Also buy a black light and see if those green pieces you have are also uranium glass, I'm Italian, right now I'm in Milan. But I live in Texas and my parents in italy have a few murano pieces from the 50s and they glow bright under UV light.
Thank you so much for the information! (looked up svuota and no matching words in Italian. Is that how it's spelled?) I'm also in Texas, born and raised. Yes, I am on IG and FB. On IG look me up at AGO20thcenturymodern.
THE BLUE ASHTRAY YOU SHOW AT ABOUT 4:14 IS ACTUALLY CZECH i AM SURE. THE GROOVES ON THE SIDE ARE STRAIGHT WHICH MURANO WERE NOT. ALSO THEY RARELY USED REALLY LIGHT COLOURS LIKE THAT. I HAVE IDENTICAL IN EAU-DU-NIL COLOUR.
Thanks for watching. Check out Part II ua-cam.com/video/vLT5ynH5SJc/v-deo.html and I have part III coming out tomorrow. ua-cam.com/video/FSilPBkoVsM/v-deo.html
The green bowl at 6:55 or so looks to be made with Gold coloured Mica gather than gold. Compare the result for the gold in the following item - it is gold leaf in it. . 🙂🙃
The coppery looking stuff at 8:12 is called avventurine glass and was invent by accident in Murano. However it is heavily used in Modern Chinese wares so beware,
Might be Lightolier, being that I picked up a Lightolier ceiling mount light fixture and found a binder catalog from Lightolier at the estate, but I don't know. (Wasn't in the catalog) BTW, Lucite is a brand of acrylic, so without knowing the manufacturer there is no way to tell if actually made by Lucite. I put a video out about acrylic, Lucite, and proprietary eponym, if you want to go check it out. ua-cam.com/video/3yfzZxahDlg/v-deo.html
The first 6-8 transparent glass objects could be produced in the former Czechoslovakia too - and some of the later ones too. It's really hard to tell, Czechoslovakia was really strong in mid-century modern glass art and the masters often studied in Italy. (Theit artwork is also quite pricey - especially if your able to identify the designer.) They also used to polish clean the bottom. Chinese copies have sometimes rough bottoms, but it's not always the case.
@@Mentanyul (Right off the bat, the first few are Murano and I found documentation since I made this video.) Without proof they are from the Czech, I'm sticking with them being from Murano. Since I made this video I have come across more documentation and might make another updated video as well as respond to the comments. Like I said in the video, if I got some of the information wrong, I will gladly look at documented proof, but no one, as of yet, provided any.
Bullicante and indeed any tatterned bubbles are created by roling glass over a set of spikes or into a mould full of spikes. When the glass is then reheated the tiny trapped air bubbles expand. So they are trapped air bubbles. 9:54 item is the one I refer to.
ua-cam.com/video/qsP07cFXU7s/v-deo.html - it's called AVVENTURINA . it is a special copper-based glass, I have used it in two variants: brown and blue, but there are green and also red. it is very particular and difficult to use. it has a difficult compatibility with other glasses. usually the Murano furnaces import it from morocco, excluding us
Ach ja noch eins Murano würde nie,nie so dickes Glas herstellen, wer weiss woher er die Aschenbecher hat,Bin immer so sauer wenn das Murano Style sein soll.
Someone from Italy commented on this video that they were also called "svuota tasche" which means empty pocket, so they were also used for wallets, keys, etc.
your collection is stunning. Thank you so much for showing it.
Thank you for sharing your passion and collection! I learned so much and look forward watching more of your videos.
My pleasure. Thanks for watching. :)
Gorgeous collection. Great explanation w clear examples! Thanks for sharing your beautiful murano and some knowledge. Nice video

Excellent. Thank you for the great explanations.
Great video!! Thank you! I look forward to viewing everything else you present!
Gorgeous pieces and I learned some things. Thank you. 😊
I envy your collection! They're gorgeous! I love blown glass because each one is one of a kind. No two will ever be the same.
A big reason I like it as well. Thanks for watching. Check out Part II ua-cam.com/video/vLT5ynH5SJc/v-deo.html
The green dish with the gold is beautiful!
I have some my tank jewelry. THIS gives me insight and new technique names for them!
Beautiful glasses
Nice collection!

You have very beautiful Murano glass 💜💜

EXCELLENT ❤

Do you know for sure they use this technique with mica?

Thanks for the info and heads up. I was actually wondering about that piece and just might be a fake/copy. I still like it though.
Very Nice collection! May l ask you Who design the lucite and chrome lamp behind you? Thanks

Very interesting. If they are from former Czechoslovakia, then 99% of the people misrepresent them.
@@agomodern that's true. Often they're sold as Murano pieces, because those are more desirable for the collectors.😢

Wow! Does it have a Murao mark on the bottom? Beautiful piece.
Which piece?
All of them.

I think your teardrop piece is actually a pipe rest. More value!
thank you glass is,,,
Olá boa noite Você envia essa marrom centro de mesa para o Brasil!

Where do you think this piece was made?
Ach ja noch eins Murano würde nie,nie so dickes Glas herstellen, wer weiss woher er die Aschenbecher hat,Bin immer so sauer wenn das Murano Style sein soll.
I welcome documented criticism, of which you have provided none. Go do some research and get back to me with verifiable facts.
Why don't your so-called "Murano" have the tell- tale potil mark? I've never seen " True Murano" polished that flat
That is EXACTLY how true Murano is, no pontil mark. Not sure where you get that idea.
I just get my information on line. Like from The Niche lady ...Danni. I guess I'm getting mixed messages and information
@@cherylwilson8571 Blenko always has the pontil mark, so maybe that's where the mix-up is happening.
Nie im Leben Murano vorne blau hinten weiss,Blender.
A blender? Not sure what you mean by that.
Such a shame to think such beautiful pieces of art were made to accommodate stinking cigarettes
Someone from Italy commented on this video that they were also called "svuota tasche" which means empty pocket, so they were also used for wallets, keys, etc.
@agomodern ... which is still not a good use as it may scratch it. I'm sure you don't put anything in them.😊
