As someone who absolutely sucks at doing hair and gets frustrated and quits halfway through, I am quite pleased to say that your tutorial helped me out immensely! I was able to style my wig that I previously hated and feel proud of it! Thank you so much for the awesome tutorial! You earned a subscriber! :)
omggg i’m so happy i found this, i’m styling my ibuki wig and want to put spikes in places so it looks more like her, and this really helped! thank you! :D
im gonna cosplay tamaki amajiki soon and i started freaking out once i couldn’t figure out how to style it, thank you for this I really feel like it helped me a lot
@@8luecat ooh! their hair is kinda similar! i worked on my dabi wig for 6 hours straight that day lol. my best recommendation is to use small elastics to section out each spike as you work. it makes it way easier to visualize your process and pull the hair away from the spike that you’re actively working on! good luck!! i hope it goes well!
Thank you for this. I used this for my Dabi wig(which was a wig from an old cosplay of mettaton from like 2016 that my parents got off of amazon for like $10) and I quite like how it turned out!!
@@crayolinnn oh, thats my old one, ignore that HAHA- it was uhm lets just say it was my first time styling a wig, ok? ill try to style my keebo wig soon
This was honestly so helpful and straight to the point. I'm currently trying to style a Dabi wig and I've been so confused on how to spike it well. I'm about to go buy a teasing brush and some glue now, thanks!
AAAAAA THANK YOU! This really made spiking more simple for me! I want to cosplay kagamine Len and spiking would be perfect for him, so thx for making this video ✨
Wow! Thank you for making this video! I always wondered how to do it. Question: do the spikes stay permanently? If not, how do I make it stay permanently? And what type of hair spray do you use? Thank you!
this helped me so much, thank you a lot! but I have a question: after I'm done with my cosplay and I have to take off the wig, shall I put it on the head stand like this without doing anything?
Your video was extremely helpful. I just started cosplaying and one of my future cosplays, Tokuchi from One Outs, his hair is spiky and I have his cosplay ready except the wig and this helped me a lot. I have syn wigs but I know how some characters i'lm doing their hair is spikey and I knew hairspray was bad for stn wigs until you mentioned oil. So as long as the hairspray don't contain oil, youre set since syn wigs dont asorb pil like human hair does.
I know this vid is older but thank you for making it! I'm making a joseph joestar cosplay rn and his hair is so spiky i was so scared but this tutorial is so easy to follow and the wig is looking great so far
A couple easy questions 1- Will normal hairspray work 2- Can I do this on large areas? I’m doing a peridot cosplay but also making her hair a little more natural, instead of triangular
Thank u, im literally recommending ur channel to my friend who first started cosplaying and i am watching ur vids still too cuz man i still suck at trying to do a wig (bakugo)
Cool video! I certainly have no problem getting my own hair this way without a wig *.* Hair thatt at defies gravity! But then I got cancer and then chemo :' o Can't wait to grow it back but these wigs are fun!
if i style a wig have a certain shape what would you recommend i use make the shape permanent? i was thinking about using watered down mod podge or pva glue
A year ago i found this vid and i thought teasing is stupid cuz it broke the wig, but now not really 😂 teasing is essential in wig styling and ive learn a lot too 😂
This was SO helpful!! I've never styled a wig before, but recently bought one to use for a Killua cosplay. I don't own mannequin head though. Is it possible to style a wig really nice but not have one? Or do you have any tips? Thanks again, this was very helpful :D
I've never actually tried this on a yarn wig, so I'm really not sure. As far as hairspray, you just want to make sure it doesn't have added oils in it (since some do, and synthetic fibers can't absorb it and will just become greasy) I prefer the got2b glued freeze spray since it's got really good hold but I know other people use different types ^^
So I got a Spirit Halloween wig and it says for me to not use a heating hairdryer, just a cool one. Does using a cool hair dryer leave the spike in place like using heated hairdryer?
Any kind of extra air will help dry the hairspray faster so yes! The only difference is that when working with heat resistant wigs, the heat makes the plastic slightly more malleable which is why I like to use it on low heat versus no heat. But definitely don't use heat if it says not to! It will melt for sure haha
If you go over the entire wig with a few coats of hairspray after styling it, it should last a long time if you store and care for it properly. You may need to touch it up after every use just a little bit but otherwise it should be good!
Did see one with spikes on temu. Then someone did write i thought it looked like in the pictures. And i found how to do it thanks. Going to make a crazy clown wig
It COULD be possible, but it's more tedious without a stand since you're going to be cutting and styling it. Stands are used just to have a better view of what the wig should look like as opposed to if you just wear it--especially if you want to wear it several times to see if you styled enough during the process
Dude, I’ve never been saved by a video more in my life. I’ve given up on a lot of cosplays because I couldn’t get the wig spiked and it didn’t look right. My next cosplay is Megumi Fushiguro from JJK, which has a lot of spikes so I’m hoping that the tips from this video help!
Just make sure your hairspray doesn't have oils in it. Plastic can't absorb the oil so it might make things greasy. Other than that any hairspray should work. I prefer something with a strong hold.
Do you by any chance know how to make a wig lighter. I have a wig i wanted to use a wig for bulma from dbz but it is darker than what i need. Any ideas on how i can fix this
Unfortunately, I've never personally made a wig lighter, but I do know that generally speaking, you can't "technically" lighten the fibers of a wig. That being said you can apply things to the surface of your wig to potentially make them appear lighter (but it will affect the texture of the wig, so be warned). I do know that you can't do it with ink based dying or Fabric dye. I'm not 100% sure if a paint/water mixture would work to lighten a wig, but I do know that the more paint vs water you use to make it more pigmented, the more crusty/stiff the wig gets (but you can generally still brush through it in most cases) The only thing I've seen people use that is probably the best bet would be paint markers. However from what I can see they will also affect the texture of the hairs on the wig, but since I've never used them myself I don't know how well they actually work. I personally recommend watching this video that FaxenCosplay made where they used the paint markers ua-cam.com/video/71pRICPPPw4/v-deo.html I hope any of that info helps! I'm sorry I don't have a good solution on this, but if I find one after all I'll let you know!
Yes! Heating the fibers and letting them cool in the direction you want them to go basically retrains them to want to go that way. So as long as you really tease the base, you can get your hair to stick straight up without any other products. All the hairspray is really for, is to hold everything in place after the fact (especially if you dont want to restyle later) So if you dont use any hairspray it will just be a "loose" spikey wig and not one that's had the hair glued together :)
came here to see what i could do for my technoblade cosplay. thought are that his hair doesn't really have like any clear ref you could use bc his minecraft skin is a litteral pig- so i could make the bangs using this, and quite possibly the pig ears to! i'm a little stuck on if i should make the back of his hair messy, curly, straight, or in a braid but imma work it out :>.
