You are a piece of me and I am a piece of you, thats why I love you. Thank you for being part of my life PJ. Belgium is calling for you. In fact, the whole world is. Hugs.
She has no equal, in a class all her own. A master at putting things together in a way that makes us think for ourselves. Human emotional approach, journalistic reportage in music. My respect for her is boundless.
Yes , yes - but what is it she ´s trying to say right here . Put in it perspective - she has been like a MTV crown jewel for all these years . She ´s trying to say " All I can say is that all of this is a piece of ... ! She ´s well aware of what ´s going on in the world . You really gots to look at her songs all alligned , her developement - one big moment of clarity , folks
Dope! - I grew up in DC; she has captured this process of change using the rock n roll medium - and the community has then taken the riff. new to pj harvey, but the subject matter is close to my heart. this is amazing art. inspiring. love it.
check out " send his love to me " - PJ Harvey is one of the greatest . right damn straight and lyrics full of sheer beauty - poet , rebel , grunge , musician like . . . real !
Wouldn't say she's "the only" one, she's probably among a small circle of those that do though without just regurgitating the POV of the corporate outlets.
Exactly one year ago, I had the oportunity and the honor to appreciat a brilliant and solemn presentation of Pj Harvey, in São Paulo, accurately at Latin America Memorial: personally, a place so special for me. The weather was too hot. Even though the sky was blue, the sun burning everybody was exposed to it and a I sweat very much hoping excited when this genius artist was to enter the stage. PJ delayed the show purposely. When the sun began goes down, a beatifull dusk hosted the introduction of Chain Keys. It was a Beatifull and Unforgettable Day. Thank you for this special show, Polly. Brazil is waiting for you again with open arms.
Poignant yet uplifting, an incredible song in the manner of Kirsty MacColl's classic "Walking Down Madison." An accurate, piercing commentary on Washington, DC of 2016; it really resonates with this liflong resident and community activist! You all must read Paul Schwartzman's article about "community of Hope" in Arts & Style section of Washington Post 3/20/16. Bravo, PJ, Seamus, and Paul! Peace.....
+Bruno Fernandes don't push too much...Harvey is great... she's at the top... but she's not the only one to release great things... To do the best album of the year is already a near impossible mission... the choice is rather subjective anyway
the seven ghospel singers "they gonna put a walmart here" ...my gosh, my eyes filled with tears, not because i like walmart (i hated it actually) it´s because they're singing so beautiful, i love that part.
Love this! Hope for a community isn’t the chance of a fucking Walmart. $90 million on tax breaks and incentives for the business instead of social supports for the community might have meant cheaper products for some residents, but it also meant closure of small local businesses that can’t compete, profits going out the community not in, the school still a shithole, kids still unhappy. What sort of community saviour bails because they can’t get round a minimum wage bill?
***** The guy that drove them around, was a Washington Post reporter Paul Schwartzman. The community wanted a Walmart AND a living wage for those who worked there. Unfortunately they didn't realise this is the company that would rather shut down an entire store than let let any of the staff join a union, so there's no way they are going to follow through on the promise to build a Walmart (let alone 2) in a community that has a minimum wage legislation in effect!
Very good video with a strong message. If some of you haters would get your heads out of your asses and listen to the lyrics and pay close attention to the video you would see the message PJ is trying to make.
+Luvie1980 I see it and can appreciate it for what it is. The problem is that it feels forced an inauthentic to me. By comparison, the polemics on Let England Shake felt like a hard, resonant look at one's own homeland. This seems like PJ is reaching but missing the mark, both musically and with her rather simple social criticism. It comes off as naive and rather half-baked, frankly.
+Landon Brown Its a simple message, sang to a simple tune, something incredibly hard to do actually. To over complicate or emphasise the would be to miss the opportunity imo. Shes turning into a modern day Joe Strummer.
It's far less complicated to talk about a war that happened over a century ago as opposed to issues that directly affect people living today 🤷♂️. Polly at least tried, which is more than you can say for a lot of artists..
Over her death, poverty, destruction phase. Two albums on the subject from someone who takes pride in not repeating herself is enough. She makes better music when in love and post breakup.
point of thought, musicians/performers are doing it for themselves. they are being selfless in that that they share it with us. too bad, most new performers don't abide by that rule. they aren't musicians, they are just actors/performers. Polly Jean deserves more. We all do.
Brilliant--absolutely brilliant. And the real story (as someone who lives not too far from where that Walmart was going to go up, is that Walmart pulled out. This is a really real story of a really real place.
I'm sorry--trying hard to find it, but can't. I know the guy who drove her around was a Washington Post writer. Unfortunately read my allotment of WP articles this month, but if you check the SPIN article, there's a link to the Post article and I bet it's mentioned there.

What a brilliant track. The lyrics are amazing. The ending refrain just kills me. I never heard anyone sing about a Wal-Mart so beautifully ....
+Joey Levenson hum sounds so much like pretenders so amazing memories that song bring to me
that last part where the coral are singing "they gonna put a walmart here" is so powerful.....outstanding...
+Bruno Fernandes lol!
+Bruno Fernandes The irony - Walmart changed it mind. Now they're not putting a walmart there. Seriously.
+Dana Cruikshank PJ got in contact with them.
+Dana Cruikshank this is going to be a irony for ever.

PJ HARVEY is the only musician that takes the trouble to actually read the news and attempt to realise that the world exists outside of Hollywood
Wouldn't say she's "the only" one, she's probably among a small circle of those that do though without just regurgitating the POV of the corporate outlets.
That church group breaking into the harmony at the end just tears my heart right out

OMG YAY! NEW PJ Harvey!!!!! THANK YOU!!!
PJ I'm impressed of your work against the tide. Do your best, grettings from Poland
the seven ghospel singers "they gonna put a walmart here" ...my gosh, my eyes filled with tears, not because i like walmart (i hated it actually) it´s because they're singing so beautiful, i love that part.
the first time the word "walmart" is poetic.
+empty wallet "Confusion" - fuck you.
oh that voice, that magical voice...can't get enough
Peering forward into the evolution as the lattice works of the future rises around us
Brilliant!
Beautiful, Pj never fails to amaze me!
The greatest living artist.
Looking forward to the album and seeing her live in august, such an performer and talent!

beautiful singing at the end too
she's done it again!
Como sempre de muito bom gosto, seguindo a linha "Let England Shake" tanta música como clipe são demais, Polly é demais.
THIS IS POWERFULLY BEAUTIFUL.
It isn't one of her best work but the final was surreal! Stunning!
What’s her best work?
Over her death, poverty, destruction phase. Two albums on the subject from someone who takes pride in not repeating herself is enough. She makes better music when in love and post breakup.
Sooo goooood!!!
Just getting into PJ. This song is amazing as is the video.
Beautifully written.
I love the way you're telling the people's stories can't wait for the album
was not feeling it too much at first, but by the end i was won over!!
+hellspawn3000 Same.
+hellspawn3000 the harmonies at 2:42 gave me chills and drew me in
Such a clear snapshot of what is going on around us. Our faith is in big corp. That dont care about us.
AMZNG!!!!
sensacional!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Polly, just being Polly, as beautiful as ever ...
I would like to go where those Geese are going at the end.
The version with the yodel "Hope" brought desperation to the song. This video was well done and the breakdown at 1:55 was a pleasant. Thank You~
point of thought,

GENIUS! thank you Polly
beautiful 💗✌
I choked back some tears on that one.

+Mark Ventura the church is Union Temple located in S.E. Washington, DC
Thanks friends!
Mark Ventura ; )
Superb !
LOOOOVE THIS SONG SO HAAARD
Another cracking track, love all of it :)
Just amazing, every time
"Appear on my own video ? Bitch please, I'm PJ Harvey."
I love the keyboard percussion.
everything about this is SO GOOD
OOoo WA OOO Wa Ooo ! Never fear under dog is here ! !!!
I thumbed this up not so much for the music (of which PJ has made much, much better in the past), but for the message.
I wanna see the gospel choir version. Then I wanna see the choir version with Polly and her band accompanying them!
She would . . . I ´ m quite sure .
I saw her live at Wolf Trap (a venue near DC) when she toured for this album. The choir helped out.
Love this song, never get bored of her.
PJ rules!
Great clip, powerful song, excellent record.
Oh! It's a masterpiece! Luv this song!
[Intro]
They took one of the old notorious housing projects, and they leveled it and rebuilt it as "Mixed Income Housing". It's called "Hope Six," and it's supposed to... sort of rejuvenate everything. It certainly looks a lot better
[Verse 1]
Here's the Hope Six Demolition Project
Stretching down to Benning Road
A well-known "pathway of death"
At least that's what I'm told
And here's the one sit-down restaurant
In Ward Seven, nice
OK, now this is just drug town, just zombies
But that's just life
[Chorus]
In the Community of Hope
The Community of Hope
The Community of Hope
The Community of Hope, hope, hope, hope
[Verse 2]
Here's the highway to death and destruction
South Capitol is its name
And the school just looks like shit-hole
Does that look like a nice place?
Here's the old mental institution
Now the Homeland Security Base
And here's God's Deliverance Centre
A deli called M.L.K
[Chorus]
And The Community of Hope
The Community of Hope
The Community of Hope
The Community of Hope, hope, hope, hope
[Outro]
They're gonna put a Walmart here
They're gonna put a Walmart here
They're gonna put a Walmart here
They're gonna put a Walmart here
They're gonna put a Walmart here
They're gonna put a Walmart here
They're gonna put a Walmart here
They're gonna put a Walmart here

This song has a little something to it that I FUCKING LOVE.
The images in this music video perfectly encapsulate the banality of the US as opposed to the mediatised version foreigners are generally sold.
