The nerve to say that tipping is optional is incredible, it is a home delivery service and they must tip for receiving the service. People without a bit of consideration, the applications do not pay the large amounts to the driver. The government should regulate this service, which is a privilege to receive your products at home without people having to leave their homes in the heat, in the cold, without facing traffic and waiting in stores. Please awareness, empathy. And he still records the driver who has every right to return the purchase due to lack of respect from these people... If the video is false, it doesn't matter, maybe people will raise awareness with this video where they expose the reality of thousands of drivers
She did not deserve to get the grocery. She insulted the guy calling him grandpa etc. Glad he took the stuff back. People do not realize that delivery companies pay less then min wage for these deliveries. On the top of it couriers pay for gas insurance maintenance and also they have to pay taxes on the top of these low paying deliveries. It is not the same as working for the restaurant.

Also, this is the other problem that we have with customers they’re not grasping the concept of the fact that people who are doing these gigs are independent contractors, and independent contractor has a job to do which is called to a profit. That means you don’t service customers like this person, and no, actually the contracted agreement is not fulfilled until the driver actually turns over the property to the person who ordered it and they are allowed to as independent contractors cancel at any time even if their car is full of your stuff there is no consequence there is no illegal action. There is nothing no recourse. It better contractors can choose to cancel you in the middle of your order while you’re waiting because you popped off at the mouth over text message just the same way that they can cancel you the minute that they arrive there and you pop off at the mouth at them if anyone talk to me this way no you will not get your food. You will not get anything. I will be on the phone with support reporting you for your behavior and returning the items back to the store and some other sucker Can get abused by customers like this female or she can just go get it herself. The driver will only have comitted theft and/or fraud if he (a) fails to return the items to teh store (b) fails to secure a refund through the store to whatever payment method was used and (c) fails to cancel the order. A/B being completed means no theft. C being completed means no fraud.

Drivers who take back paid deliveries should be fired. They do their job an d get paid for it. There should be no tipping at all because it is unfair anyway. Are you tipping your cashier at the discounter or supermarket? Are you tipping your janitor or the garbageman? Construction Workers also work in the cold/rain, do they get tips? Farmers? i refuse to tip for any form of pickup/takeout and i abhor the modern tipping culture where you're getting a tablet shoved in your face asking for a 30% tip after being handed a coffee at a counter or your lunch when you come pick it up and i have personally never worked in any environment where tips are expected BUT the fact the dude shopped for their order of what appears to be a bunch of bulky, heavy items, went through the effort to get it right (as far as we know) and went through the effort to get it to them undamaged, and placed it inside their building at the door which is more than what most are willing to do and was in turn given the bare minimum is such a shitty thing to do to another human being imo. dude went above and beyond from the looks of it and these people can't pull a few dollars out of their wallet and show some graciousness? common courtesy and human decency seems to have taken a backseat for many post-lockdown IMO.
again, tipping culture in modern america for the most part is ass and unacceptable but delivery drivers who make the effort to get you your shit on time, in good condition, and go the extra step to make it more convenient for you deserve respect.
as far as her supposedly paying for the "heavy/bulk fee" for the order? thats an entirely different topic where we have to call out these delivery services for tacking on extra fees to difficult orders that then dont translate into ending up in the drivers pocket. thats a fraud with-in itself and i tend to believe that a lot of miscommunication in regards to these confrontations stem from the consumer paying extra fees believing that they go directly to the driver when they dont and a driver who then sees a tiny tip on such a large order and thinks the customer is an asshole.

Not sure how you're "supposed to act" towards a subcontractor committing fraud to the contractor you hired while simultaneously committing theft against you on your front porch while lecturing you over a situation they're blaming all their actions on you for.

The whole gig economy is dead. Tips are cool and all but nobody can tip anymore with the cost of things. Just started a w2 after shipt died this month. It was sweet for a side hustle while in school full time but all good things must come to an end.
"Gig economy" isn't a job, or income, or a career. Pre tipping for service is not nor has ever been an aspect of "tipping culture" nor the argument that its correlated to customers earnings.

if he already unloaded the goods, these belong to her legally. Him taking it back is stealing her properties. She could call the cops. Not debating on whether or not he deserves tips, he simply should not steal(take) someone else's properties because he is not satisfied without a tip.
It’s not stealing if he’s taking it back to the store I’ve been through the situation where they tipped nothing I would be pissed too if you had to waste your time with that, that’s a load specially, when you’re going to the fourth floors when they have no elevators the point, I’m getting to it’s not stealing because he literally hast to unload everything and take a picture to show that it was delivered. All he can do in this situation if it sparks this way just keep his mouth shut, pack everything up call headquarters explain the situation and tell them to send somebody else because it looks like she just did that just to shame somebody deliberately with a phone camera when you take it back to the store they tag everything and make sure everything is there. I’ve taken stuff back myself, I know how that works and I know how that person works. He probably had to wait a long time for the groceries to even come to him because the people at the store or so slow they load everything for you but when you get there you unload everything yourself that’s why I stay away from grocery stores and everything when I do get jobs like this

If people are offering delivery services, they should get their job done regardless of any tip amount. If they wanted a service with demanding a specific amount of "tip" then it's NOT TIP at all.. that's called "Delivery Fee"
