Good video. It helped me change my old vw jetta 2001. I would suggest adding an extra step. To save your car's electronic settings, people should use an OBD II Connector cable attached to a portable jump start battery. This will eliminate the hassle of reprogramming the electronics and also possibly preventing issues with the car remote key not working or needing to be reprogrammed.

Thanks for the video! What’s your comment on battery size? I get a few options that differ somewhat in size when I type in my license plate on different sites. Most seem to be around 5-8 mm longer than my current battery, would they fit?

Funny, that is my exact car, color and all. There is no need to re-set the computer right? I see some batteries advertised saying professional installation recommended because of a re-set issue. The video looked cut and dried, none of that, but just want to check. Thanks.

I need my battery replaced, 02 vw golf. Im confident i wont have $150 dollars for it. May not be brand new, but just a good used one if i dont intend to keep the car any long time.
This 2.0 golf is an obviously tough engine.
EIGHT VALVE non interference.

Hire a gorilla to turn that beast. Also, a breaker bar on the end of your wrench might work too.

For me, one wack on the socket extender freed it on my 2005 Jetta GL wagon. (well this time, I don't know what I had to do 5 years ago)

Since the fuse wire is connected to the positive terminal cable, why not just loosen the positive terminal cable ? negative off, positive off. Then your halfway done.

I took out my battery on a 2002 VW Jetta and the car unprogramed the key

Thanks for checking us out! There are definitely cases where the key will become unprogrammed after replacing the battery. You will just need to reprogram the key and it should continue to function properly. Hope this helps! +Luis Posadas

One parts guy told me it should not be difficult to remove my battery, & replace it, on my 2002 VW GOLF. I ALREADY KNOW ITS NOT DIFFICULT AT ALL. REMOVE & REPLACE.
ZERO DIFFICULTY.
