- On Parliament Hill, Marc Miller, the federal immigration minister, announces the introduction of legislation that would extend Canadian citizenship to some children born outside of the country. The proposed bill (C-71) comes in response to last year's Ontario Superior Court ruling, which found the government's "second-generation cut-off rule" from 2009 to be unconstitutional.
He is joined by Jenny Kwan, NDP immigration critic, Kathryn Burton, advocate and parent, and Don Chapman, head of the Lost Canadians Society.
