My husband and father and law followed this and they were able to replace them!! So happy you saved us a lot of money lol. I have the same color and year too!
Thanks! I replaced the front pads on a friend's PT years ago but neglected to clean up & re-grease the caliper pins because they seemed to be moving freely. Well, I recently had to replace them again because the outside pad wore down to metal while the inside was only half worn. And the pins were dry & gummy, no doubt the cause.
Yep,! You ARE the father! That was very clear, articulate, well shot. '01 free to me PT. $4,000 ago. It does truck work every day. Good job, Dude, I'm subscribing.
DUDE, Having a major dilemma with that old & brittle gasline to rail. Told yestiddy they were "discontinued" ( the OTHER guy at SAME counter said there are 2...one in a week -one in a MONTH! NOoooo. Can i make my own?
Are there any salvage yards near you because thats going to be your best bet. The dealers are going to be too expensive . I know salvage yards here are filled with pt cruisers . Hope this helps and thanks for watching.
Take the entire bracket to knuckle assembly off , and try to drill or cut it off. Most likely the calipers threads are stripped . It could be possibly chased with a tap or just replace the slide bolt. Autozone usually has the slide bolts. Worse case the caliper would need replaced . The calipers are side specific , drivers side or pass side. Thanks for the question.
I guess the best way I can describe the direction it is supposed to go , would be to think about the direction you would apply force to move the tab away from the pad. With the direction the rotor would be spinning ( forward driving ) the tab would installed accordingly. On some pads they are designed where they can't be installled wrong . Thanks for the feedback.
Sometimes the rotors get glazed, or it may be the type of pads. It could be the caliper slide pins need some grease. Sometimes everything is newly replaced and the squeaks still persist, or come and go with rain and moisture. Thanks for watching.
They are different but overall the same to replace. They also have parking pads that seat inside the rotor , these are usually not replaced as they hardly ever wear down. Thanks for watching.

Rotor replacement is easy on this car I’d do the rotor also
Don't replace the rotors unless they are worn out. His rotors look like they have a lot of miles left in them.
Thank you for this tutorial

What if my caliper bolts stripped and stuck ?

My squeaks, then goes away, pads are fat, what do you think?

Do you have to bleed them after?
It is not necessary but if the fluid is dirty it would be a good time to bleed it. Thanks for the feedback.
