Ah Kim… nothing will ever beat the chemistry she and Laura had as the Shayne sisters.. … they were the perfect match and I totally believed they were sisters.. Love Kim and I remember watching her at 18 or 19 back in 97’-98 and her characters strength and love of family reminded me of my own Mom. She’s the absolute best.. the Queen of Guiding Light heroines 🙌🏽 Great interview once again bro! Thanks for doing these!
Happy Birthday to the one and only Kim Zimmer! One of the best actresses in Daytime and elsewhere! Nobody could cry like you on screen! Wishing you all the blessings and miss seeing on the screens!
What a treat. Kim will always be my Meryl Streep. Just a fantastic talent and it’s so great to see she’s a solid person in real life. I will always remember the respect she had for GL as an institution.
I love Kim so much. Guiding Light was and still is my favorite daytime drama. My favorite scene of hers would have to be the infamous fountain scene with Josh and probably everything else. I actually met her at one of their luncheons in New York. I was so in awe. Happy Birthday, Kim and many many more. ❤🕊🎂
I loved GL and a large part of that was because of Kim. During the final week of GL I had a young man in my house working on internet. He said that's Reva. I used to sit with my mom and watch her. His mom had passed and it was a good memory for him. That show was important to so many people, for so many reasons. I met one of my best friends when we were on CBS website telling them how unhappy we were about the cancellation. I know it won't happen, but I so wish it could come back. We need some fun escapism. Thanks for the memories Kim. Thanks for the interview Alan. 💖
Such wonderful memories..We have that in common..My mom was a housewife so I grew up with soaps..Love um..A bit disillusioned with B&B as the same storyline happens over and over..Liam at a young age I think has been married more than Liz Taylor..lol
Kim is amazing!! I love hearing that she's watching daytime and and loving the work of her former castmates and network mate as in her being the big fan of Maura West. V
Loved Guiding Light and Reva!! She and Josh were great together. I won't be watching Robert on Y&R thought because it is simply not a classic soap like GL and ATWT!!
@@josephgraefe4886 Well now, honey, I wouldn't go that far. I used to watch it in Junior High when I would skip my classes after lunch (the teachers never took role). That was 1973. So I think it might qualify as a classic. 🙂
This was soooo good!! How lucky are we that we got to watch this brilliant woman and her amazing costars on GL for all those years! Miss them and the show still! You’re a treasure, Kim Zimmer! 💓
Reva was my mother's favorite, and someone had commented to her she looked like her. She beamed for months. I lost my mom was she was only 62 and the resemblance of Kim now and how she talks and acts, feels like seeing my mom. Didn't expect that, but it makes me smile.
Thanks so much for this. Kim is just so full of life and joy and it carried over to her performances. Loved the shout-out for Michelle Forbes; I was obsessed with the Sonni/Solita story. Forbes was absolutely robbed by the Emmys the year that finished.
Agreed Michelle Forbes was amazing such a cool beauty and what an actress. That was a complicated story with so many twists and turns. Too bad she left so soon after the story ended. Loved that final scene where the ticket agent asked her “smoking or non smoking” shows how long ago that was. Smoking on an airplane? Lol
Loved the interview. I remember reading her book as soon as it was published. Kim is not only an exquisite actress but I can see that she’s a great friend to all that know her.
I just watched the scene with Reva laughing about Kyle taking over Lewis oil and that laughter turned to anguish when she heard on the phone that Roxy might be dead. She just crushed in that scene!
Kim is my favorite and family 4 ever and always.i still can't believe she said thank u to me for wishing her happy birthday.i was happy and that made my day.love ya Kim always.

I love this lady. I feel like I grew up with her. I did actually! 🙂 So wonderful how on Guiding Light, even as she was older, she still got all the hot guys! 😀
So glad to have found this interview. I started watching GL w/my mother in 1976, I was 7yrs old. Loved the mentions of the many actors she worked with in Daytime. I especially cherished the mentions of Larkin Malloy. I was a huge Fan of Kyle & Reva. When they abruptly ended their storyline, I was so mad that I quit watching the show. Never saw Jeva’s wedding. I ended up watching Santa Barbara instead for several years. I eventually went back to GL, but I still think that Kyle & Reva were the BEST. I’m so happy to be able to revisit that storyline on UA-cam. I think time opposite Larkin was some of her best work. If you do another interview, I’d love to know how & why Larkin left that role so quickly. I know MANY fans that were not happy. I’m just wondering if he left on good terms. He ended up opposite Susan Lucci but still thought his best work was on GL. Did she loosen his seriousness up in scenes? They had that bubble bath scene which looked challenging & fun. They were magic onscreen for me; 17 years old at the time. Fantastic Interview. I’m now subscribing.
Kyle and reva.. My 1st favorite super couple that I remember. I was 11 and just in love with Kyle. I am almost 50 now. I wish I could have found that kind of love that they seem to have have....sigh. lol
Hello Kim,. I'm viewing this a little late, but had to tell you how much I miss those "Guiding Light" days, was a huge fan back in the day! I loved all the actors on the show, & I was so heartbroken when it came to an end!😞 I was excited to find out that you were coming on this show. And last week, I find out "your old flame" Joshua, is coming to my fav soap now, Y&R, talk about excited, I can't wait to see him act on it soon! You look wonderful, Kim, & a belated HB to you from a long-time fan, it's good to see you again! 🥰🎂🍹
One of mine and my late Mom's favoite daytime actresses of all time, she is daytime royalty for sure, she is sorely missed, it would be very interesting to have her team up with Robert Newman when he assumes the role of "Ashland Locke" later on this month on Y and R, another great interview, thanks so much for all that you do for us daytime drama fans and wishing Kim many more birthdays to come and Alan I didn't hear you ask how was it working with Nicole Forester who took over the role of "Cassie" after Laura Wright left..
Another good show. I like the rapid fire questions of her co-stars. The best were Michelle Forbes (who embraced Sonni & Solita a bit too much….LOL!!!!) and Cynthia Watros as Annie (no one has ever done crazy like her). Keep up the good work.
What Kim Zimmer and company did with Reva Shayne on "Guiding Light" was something akin to Tennessee Williams. It was just fantastic, and people still talk about it to this day (thanks to Alan, for continuing the discussion). I do believe when Ms. Zimmer (Mrs. Weary) was on "One Life", the first time as Echo, so was Elizabeth Hubbard in a recurring role as a society matron before both ladies went on to play two of their most iconic roles as Reva Shayne and Lucinda Walsh respectively.
@@TheLocherRoom Alan, do you know what might be fun, (if I may make a suggestion, because I am sure those never stop coming, lol) - because we have the Oscars coming up - what if there was a way to do a Daisy Awards/OLTL reunion - with Jessica Tuck (Megan), Sharon Sharth (nee Schlarth - Spring), Fia Porter (Audrey) and Tammy Amerson (Mary Lynn) and Robert S. Woods (Bo). It would be so fun to hear the experience of how that storyline came to be, and what went into producing such an elaborate episode for daytime which sincerely had the look and feel of the Soap Opera Awards. And it would just be fun to hear from Mr. Woods again, and fans haven't heard from Ms. Tuck, Ms. Sharth, Ms. Porter and Ms. Amerson in a while? Again, just a suggestion - also, I think you should be interviewed, seriously! By someone personable, who gives you a great intro and asks you for 30 minutes at least about your experience in daytime. We always get to hear snippets, but never in chronological order - and you have helped us so much during Covid, by letting us hear, see our favorites and even setting up fundraisers! Just a thought :)
i hoped she watched the prologue photoplay!! it was great. this woman is interesting. i love ur vids. i grew up in a house of all 'women' so was forced to watch most "soaps" ever' day!! but i'll never forget her in body heat. people are so interesting. i'm so glad you're contributing to st jude on here. i want a question answer session w/people on here. i don't think you'd get too many crazy ones . . .
Can't believe it took me this long to watch this interview! I believe Kim could not remember the name of the actor who played Cain Harris - it was Jerry Lanning (he also worked on Texas and SFT). He is also not deceased, to the best of my knowledge. Has been working in theatre, including on Broadway, for many years. He would be an interesting guest for one of your interviews, Alan!
Great and fun interview. I laughed out loud. I too, would like to know who Pam Long’s first choice for Reva was? I assume it was a Texas Actress like Carla Borelli
Alan, it was wonderful seeing the interview with Kim. I would have liked you to ask her about working with three icons of daytime:Charita Bauer, Audrey Peters and Mary Stuart.
Hey Dr Mike. I’m 60 years old. 5’11” current weight is 175. My body fat is 20%. I’ve lost 40 lbs in the last 3 years but just started weight training a year ago. I would like to get to 165 and/or body fat in the low teens. What should be my macros?
Happy to hear you say people loved Kyle. I always felt Kyle and Reva had much more chemistry than Reva and Josh. They really ruined the couple the way they wrote his exit.
I’m in the same boat. The writers should have written his exit better. I was so mad at how they ruined his character, I quit watching GL for a couple of years after he left the show. I was captivated by Kim & Larkin’s Chemistry. He was so Romantic and the writing was fantastic up until he left. I think Kim did some of her best work w/Larkin, followed by Tom Pelphrey. She should have won an Emmy for The Woman on the Edge Storyline.
@@jayjoyce435 Agree. I can watch those scenes over and over again. When Reva jumps from the bridge after watching Kyle marry Maeve. 🥲I still can’t understand what the writers were thinking. Kyle was the bad guy even though Maeve let him think his son was dead?? Crazy.
They missed a golden opportunity not pairing Reva and Nola in their early days. When Reva first came to town, Nola could've befriended Reva. Just think of the comedic trouble they could've gotten into. Besides, they were both busy with their own stories that they couldn't have worked it out. 😊😊
☆HAPPY BIRTHDAY REVA SHANE LEWIS!☆💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗 IT'S MY DINNER TIME COULDN'T GET MY INTERNET TO WORK TO GOOD THIS🤗🤗 AFTERNOON SO I LEFT THE SHOW BUT I'M BACK REVA DARLING SOMETHING HB LEWIS WOULD SAY TO REVA DON'T YOU THINK?💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗
I believe the rumors it was Carla Borelli (who’d been on Texas with Pam Long). I liked Borelli fine but I suspect Reva would have had a much shorter shelf life had she played the role.
What happened to Maeve Kincaid? She was so good as Vanessa Spaulding. Also loved Phillip and India, not necessarily as a couple, bc I was a Phillip and Beth fan. But he and India were fascinating characters. 😊
I don't have a birthday this year. On the bright side. Technically that means. I am only 13 /1 half. ( to be precise ) at the end of the month. A very hard living 13 by the look of things. LOL Oh well. Can't have everything. I also was bitten by the acting bug at a young age. I am a mostly retired singer / actress. Who is also a wheelchair user from birth. I auditioned, & got into a performing arts school. Unfortunately. This was 1983. Before the passage of the ADA ( Americans with Disabilities Act ) The school was quite a distance away. Under the ADA. They would have been forced to provide. Busing, & access. As a consequence of winning enrollment. It was not to be. That was quite a few years away. ( side note ) I wonder if there is something about being a February baby. When it comes to a lot of artists.

It would have been amazing! What a treat for us fans.
Read recently that Nola, Lisa Brown recently died😢
☆HAPPY BIRTHDAY REVA SHANE LEWIS!☆💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗
IT'S MY DINNER TIME COULDN'T GET MY INTERNET TO WORK TO GOOD THIS🤗🤗 AFTERNOON SO I LEFT THE SHOW BUT I'M BACK REVA DARLING SOMETHING HB LEWIS WOULD SAY TO REVA DON'T YOU THINK?💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗
With a big, "Whooo-peee!" 😀
I hope you enjoyed it, Vicki!
I wanna know who it was Pam K. Long wanted for Reva!
I believe the rumors it was Carla Borelli (who’d been on Texas with Pam Long). I liked Borelli fine but I suspect Reva would have had a much shorter shelf life had she played the role.
I do believe it was a friend of Pam's and that would make sense.
Michelle Forbes is on New Amsterdam
💜
Michelle Forbes us currently on New Amsterdam
Thanks, Derek. I bet she's amazing on it.
What happened to Maeve Kincaid? She was so good as Vanessa Spaulding.
Also loved Phillip and India, not necessarily as a couple, bc I was a Phillip and Beth fan. But he and India were fascinating characters. 😊
Hi Trish -- Maeve is great. She was a guest back in June

Wow...I'll bet she's still beautiful. That gorgeous skin, and those pretty eyes! She was so striking.
The only soap I watch now is Days. I'd love for them to create a role for Kim Z.
If she would accept it. 😉
Maybe a short-term role....
Jerry Lanning played Cain on GL. After Reva's suicide attempt that Fletcher wrote about.
TONY!!! Yes -- that's his name. I couldn't grab it fast enough. You're the man.
and Btw Alan , She not lost her youth in Her Face.
She Looks Like "Reva" Still ;)
Couldn't agree more!
I really got a kick out of her Amish Amnesia storyline. 😂
😉
That's an interesting thought....Happy February Birthday!
