I too was in love with Maeve Kinkead. Maeve's performance as Vanessa was absolutely astonishing and I thoroughly enjoyed seeing her on screen. When I was watching the show when she would walk into a scene I would just light up. It had to have been when I was about 21 years old and I was still in college and I wrote to her and after a while I got a reply with an autographed picture and a letter. Still have it to this day
Maeve Kinkead is still one of the most beautiful women I have ever seen - a boyhood crush. How great to see Bryan Buffinton again ... he will always be the one and only true Bill Lewis. Kurt and Gina were great. Thanks again, Alan for this wonderful opportunity to pause and share great memories and catch-up.
GL has always been my fav, of all time. I remember listening to it when I was a very young child - my Mom listened to it on the radio, Actually GL began the year I was born. When I found it on TV after giving birth to my first child I was so tickled - in black & white then. All the soaps in those days were only 15 min. long. It's my opinion that GL was the best of all the soaps. I cried when it went off the air!
Maeve, love your smile and your light! You are a beautiful person inside and out! Lovely to see you looking so fabulous in your seventies! Thank you for all the years you brought the light into many of our lives.
You are right but after what they did to her Firing her as Phyllis #3 I'm not sure she would want to. She's the only person I know of that got Two Daytime Emmys as a Recast. As Dinah #4, and as Phyllis #3 When I look at Maeve Kinkead's Mother Son Relationship with Brian Buffington (Billy #1),it kind of reminds me of Helen Worth's Relationship with her TV Son David played by Jack Shepherd. She's been playing Gail on Coronation Street for 46 Years and Jack celebrates his 20th Anniversary as David. I told UK Soap Fans about SORAS and they were in stiches.
@@merricat3025 I don't blame you. I don't watch it at all now. Mal Young who was a Legend on UK Soaps most notably Eastenders did alot of damage. He Fired alot of Actors and bought them back. Also in The UK when a Actor/Actress signs a contract they don't know how long they will be on the show bu tthey always check out other options. He didn't realize just how different UK and US Soaps are. Daran Little who wrote for All My Children and Coronation Street (UK) now writes for Eastenders. Phyliss reminds me so much of a Character named Mercedes McQueen on Hollyoaks, very devious and narcisstic.
I literally have watched Guiding Light since I was 4 or 5 years old. Loved it ALWAYS!!!!!! Remember Nola and Vanessa always being nasty to each other. Reva and Josh , Beth and Phillip in New York. Such good story telling!!! I cried when it went away and was lost for my 2:00 hour... then Tom Pelphrey came, the scene and everything got turned upside down and it was GREAT! You were always my favorite little Billy.
Just watched the NO RETREAT NO SURRENDER movie. The last time watched it somewhere in 1992. Nice to see Kurt after all these years! He still looks great!
So great to see these great GL stars again. Gina is such a beautiful person and simply an awesome actress! I'm not a fan of Y&R but did watch many shows when she played Phylis on the show. She was awesome as Dinah on GL and won two Emmy's during her five years there. It was great seeing Byran Buffington again as well. I remember him being Bill Lewis III. Wishing they would bring back ATWT and GL to daytime. They were the best daytime shows ever on T.V.
I still remember when Henry died and Vanessa read his letter that he wrote her and she broke down crying afterwards, that was REAL. I know it was Vanessa but I believed Maeve really felt that it was heartbreaking, and then Matt came in and consoled her what a scene!
I love how Maeve had such loving things to say about William Roerick. They may have crossed paths on "Another World" as well. With certain actors, you can tell that they are real ladies and gentlemen, a quality in humanity that rarely exists any more.
The memories I have will never go away, I remember my family getting a VCR back in 1979 and if ATWT and GL didn't tape I would be so upset ( I was 13 at the time) after awhile the record button wouldn't stay down so I had to put a stick in it so it would record my shows..Summer never came fast enough so i could watch it live...My grandfather would sleep during ATWT and my grandma would sleep during GL, it was so comical to know who's shows was who's by who was asleep...God Bless everyone of those actors who made my growing up so exciting in Oakdale and Springfield!! Barbara and Lucinda were the best!!
This brings back so many memories. All of the NY soaps were and always will be so much more interesting than all of the west coast soaps. Cancelling them all was such a mistake. Through the years I have watched GL, ATWT, OLTL, AW, SFT, Loving, RH, TD, Bright Promise, and I am sure that I have left something out from long ago. They are still missed by so many people.
They were more known by being sponsored by P & G. It was more about more women joining the working force and weren’t staying home as much to watch the soaps. The ratings weren’t as big and P & G was no longer going to be sponsoring them, As The World Turns, Guiding Light, Edge of Night and Search For Tomorrow were all the ones that they had sponsored. Yeah, the reason, I also know this if you go back you’ll see that. And, the reason, I also now about there history about this, is also cause, my birth place is Ohio and which is where one of the big P & G factory’s are out of up in Cincinnati.
I got hooked on GL back in 1981, when I would come home from school and my sister would be watching it. I tell you, it is addicting. All the crazy story lines, the drama, the action, the hook ups, the break-ups, the lies, the deaths, the resurrection, the love stories etc. Oh how I miss my GUIDING LIGHT. I was a true fan for 28 years. Watching those old footage on UA-cam made my day. It brought back so many memories, I enjoyed it very much. My Guiding Light favorite Character was Reva Shayne Lewis, played by the fabulous Kim Zimmer. Also, Nola Reardon was a hoot. Love stories like Kelly&Morgan and Beth&Phillip was enticing. Also Jonathan Randal, Reva's youngest son played by Tom Pelphrey- boy he did such a great convincing job portraying that character,

@Frank Beaty wow it so awesome to see your comment! Matt and Vanessa are my favorite GL couple, and what a wonderful backstage story you shared. Just seeing them interact brings back such wonderful memories. It seems as though they generally care about each other off screen and seem like such nice people. And you did such a wonderful job playing Brent/Marion! I can't imagine anyone else being able to play that part the way you did. Pure genius. I really like the fact that Gina Tognoni loved being at "Guiding Light" because I felt like we were so lucky to get her there at the show back then. I know the Daytime Drama genre very well and I am just slightly familiar with the ABC Daytime Dramas, but I didn't REALLY appreciate Gina Tognoni, her talent, and her beauty until she arrived at "Guiding Light" and CBS. Thanks for this video...began watching GL in 1966 (recording on V H S) til the end.....and now thanks to YT, get to rewatch so much with so many memories...
I had to watch, even though I stopped watching GL years & years before the finale. Bryan was the only Bill I knew & I never saw Gina as Dinah. I heard that Vanessa re-married Billy, but it's easy to pretend that didn't happen.
I'm so grateful for the Matt and Vanessa storyline. The writing was spot on, extremely accurate and moving, so much so that it is inspiring. I agree with Kurt, they should have ended up together and if this comment should ever reach Mauve and Kurt, just know thank you for your wonderful performance. You portrayed such love and bravery you encourage others to take a chance. Just thank you and the writers of course 😊❤❤.
I'm old enough to remember when GL and all the soaps were 15 minutes long. GL and ATWT were the two that lasted a lifetime. I wept when both ended. Soaps are such great training ground for actors.

I HATE to say this but, Gina deserve MUCH BETTER then Daytime Soaps, just like Erika Slezak on One LIFE To LIVE. Gina should be on Broadway and in the Movies. She is simply a STAR. I hope she GETS her BIG BREAK!!! She has Oscar winner written all OVER her. Julianne Moore is NOT the ONLY one from Daytime Soaps to Win an Oscar.🌹🌹🌹🌹❤❤❤❤💙💙💙💙
Love these live podcasts. Thanks to everyone involved. Great to see everyone. I wish we could send in some questions about the show and the actors before these podcast airs so that things could flow more smoothly and we could cover more. I imagine it's harder to read questions and keep things flowing at the same time. I hope these shows continue, so many actors I would love to see.
These are all spectacular! Thank you Alan for bringing all these wonderful people together. I miss GL so much. PS: If you could get Beth Ehlers on one of these, I would be forever grateful!!!
Man Gina Tognoni is one of my all-time favorite soap actors I used to love her as Dinah on GL and I still miss her as Phyllis on Y&R. I really want Gina back on in daytime ASAP.
When Bryan said someone subbed for Maeve, I remembered that Anna Stuart, who was best known as Donna Love on "Another World", stepping in just briefly.
I looked it up. Anna Stuart filling in was before my time, but apparently there was a Sonia Stuart who filled in for Maeve on August 25 to 26, 1992; May 31, 1994 (according to Google). :) I knew I wasn’t crazy.

Kurt are you still doing kick boxing!! You are the best!! Love to watch you kick boxing dance!! From NC. 😂
Alan- cbs should show classic episodes of GL during Y&R and B&B hiatus
Love this! Guiding light is so missed.
Absolutely loved this, thank you everyone so very much for sharing your memories and your time. May you all be safe and well. Miss you all and the entire GL cast & crew. ❤️
Indiana Filmmakers she doesn’t age!
I love these people still❤️❤️❤️😜❤️❤️❤️
This is amazing, Gl was my favorite soap wow I really missed this show.
This is so much fun Thanks
I can't thank you enough for bringing my favourites together. This is beyond amazing and such wonderful entertainment while we're all isolated. I'm so happy to see everyone healthy and safe. Take care!
Thanks again Alan!
This is fantastic! Thank you!
Thank you Alan!! From NC. 💗

Another great video!! Thanks!!!
You're very welcome. Glad you're enjoying them.
Vanessa, and "Daddy!"...they were a great team!
They certainly were.
Alan your videos have really made my days during this quarantine. Thanks for taking the time to put them together.
I miss you Gina on the young a d the restless. I am from sarasota florida now living in Tallahassee
ATWT & GL were my soap families. Gina - miss you now on Y&R 💕
The executives at the networks need to see these and see the comments and views! !!! Bring daytime back!!!
Now it's stupid talk shows and stupid game shows. I don't even watch Network daytime TV
This was awesome.. Gina Is awesome!!!
As per usual I'm late to the party. But what a treasure!
Glad you enjoyed it, Jeanie! Thanks for watching.
I miss Guiding Light sooo much. 😭😭😭😭
Holy crapppppp l’m SO GLAD l’m up at 2:30am and deliriously remembering GL & was led here 😭😭😭😭💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜 Thank you!!!!!!
I love this, Sammie. Glad you were led here and glad to see those hearts.
These videos are gold!!!!!
Just a suggestion - if there was some way to play a clip or three and have the cast members comment on them, that would be the coolest. Thank you!
Awesome idea 👍
Love these live podcasts. Thanks to everyone involved.
Great to see everyone.
I wish we could send in some questions about the show and the actors before these podcast airs so that things could flow more smoothly and we could cover more. I imagine it's harder to read questions and keep things flowing at the same time. I hope these shows continue, so many actors I would love to see.
You can ask questions live on UA-cam while we are chatting.
@@TheLocherRoom please do a video with Judi Evans grant Alexander vicent irizzarry Mary Kay adams Krista tesereau Michael oleary
These are all spectacular! Thank you Alan for bringing all these wonderful people together. I miss GL so much. PS: If you could get Beth Ehlers on one of these, I would be forever grateful!!!
I'm so glad you're enjoying.
Thank you for doing this. Please do more!
Thanks for these interviews from our GL crew. I'd love to see Bradly Cole featured on one of these. Whatever happened to him?
Man Gina Tognoni is one of my all-time favorite soap actors I used to love her as Dinah on GL and I still miss her as Phyllis on Y&R. I really want Gina back on in daytime ASAP.
Spending most of the pandemic rewtchingGL$aATWT, still these and dark shadows better than anything on now!
Any chance we’ll see my all time favorite Beth Ehlers? Her and Mark Derwin or Ricky Paul?
I would love all three. If I can find them all I will certainly ask.
The Locher Room Mark and Ricky can be found on Instagram!
I miss Guilding Light so much 😢
I hear you! We all do.
Does anyone know what happened to Stephen Yates (Ben Mc Farren)?
When Bryan said someone subbed for Maeve, I remembered that Anna Stuart, who was best known as Donna Love on "Another World", stepping in just briefly.
I looked it up. Anna Stuart filling in was before my time, but apparently there was a Sonia Stuart who filled in for Maeve on August 25 to 26, 1992; May 31, 1994 (according to Google). :) I knew I wasn’t crazy.
@@bryanbuff Just wanted to pipe in (from Sarasota) to say I loved you & Maeve as Vanessa & Bill. I think it was well-written & you seemed to work so well together. Although, I stopped watching before you left. I'm glad you & your family are doing well. 40, though? 😮
TheKelJacob Sarasota, nice! And thanks! This brought back so many great memories. The nostalgia was overwhelming. Thanks for saying hi.
@@bryanbuff I just recently watched those episodes! So strange when that happens!!
