These kind of videos are amazing, and the contrast between your experience and Az’s inexperience is a really nice touch and it always gives the final thoughts some perspective which is great when you’re new in mixing! Cheers!
I spent a number of years calling on distilleries around Bardstown. Primarily Heaven Hill and Jim Beam. Most people have no hint of the tricks that go into creating a profile for the flavor of a particular Bourbon. As for Elmer T. Lee, it was the best I've ever tasted!
I thought you would put a link on how to purchase a tasting kit , oh well! Excellent video as usual . My favorite is when Az lights up your room with her smile and amazing carisma.
When they send it to the bar, does the bar get a barrel and just have that in the back somewhere? Surely not, right? You pick your barrel & then Buffalo Trace bottles that whole barrel up and sends it to the bar? Not at cask strength but at the normal strength? In selecting a barrel for the bar, is the best one that you taste neat like this going to be the best one for cocktails? Is that a consideration?
This is amazing! I didn't even know that this is a thing. You are super lucky. Might have to get over to Kentucky when this whole thing is over. And Cheers from Sydney, Australia. P.S. Love the content from a compete cocktail/liquor noob
great video/post , very cool to see the process. I always assume my local ABC store's Barrel Select is just some propaganda and a barrel picked for them. Good to know!
Great video, Anders! Speaking of bourbon (and Buffalo Trace) - are there any allocated bottles you think are worth seeking out/paying for? I know there are many good, affordable options out there from other distillers. It can be hard to sift through the hype sometimes :)
Thanks, Matt! There sure are a lot of good bottles out there! For allocated bottles from Buffalo Trace, I think the Weller line is worth picking up. It’s the same mash bill as Pappy for considerably less money. The 12 year is great and I like the 107 proof Antique as well. I also think Stagg Jr and Hancock’s Reserve are worth the price. Outside of BT, if you can find a Four Roses Single Barrel that’s higher proof (>110), it’s worth it!
With videos where you and Az are both in front of the camera, and there are moving shots (see 5:25), who is operating the camera? Is there a third person in your apartment? 🕵
I think I picked 2. But Cody was trying to confuse me with various (mostly false) statements about which was better. He actually told me he didn't like #3, which now I see was some sort of Jedi mind trick. But to be honest, I suck at these subtle tasting things. As a certain unnamed person once told me (OK it was Ameer), "You're just not capable of appreciating molecular cuisine." All that said, I look forward to drinking some of barrel 3.

I'll never buy a full barrel of bourbon... But this was potentially my favorite episode! Fun concept! Thanks for the journey!
Coming from the future. I would like more videos like this😁

"We're having to reach around" -Az. Anders reaction was hilarious!!
Great music. You've inspired me. I might try this for my guy who is a bourbon drinker. Makes me want to tour some distilleries. Thanks guys.
This almost makes me want to open a bar so I could justify buying my own barrel. It is also always fun to see the two of you having such a good time!

Barrels and barrels and barrels of fun!

This was lots of fun to watch; hope you will be able to do this again some time. I enjoy getting to see Az as well

This was cool. I am hoping to one day buy my own barrel. so thanks for letting me know how it works. cheers
Been binge watching all your videos, this one has to be my favorite 🤣 thanks for all the cocktail recipes!
Excited to try it!
This one was really cool. I learned a lot. Thanks for the insights!
I would love to see the views on this if it was released now. I'm guessing a lot more than 1600. Awesome stuff!!!
Excellent idea for a video (something I haven't seen from your fellow YTers), and great execution as always.

What a brilliant idea for a video!! Love this and love a good barrel pick 🖤🥃
Best line is from Az “why don’t I get my own glass?“ :-)

very cool
Very cool!
Your were talking about Buffalo Trace, but when you were showing the photos I thought, "That looks like the Barton rackhouse." And I was right!
Good eye!! You’re absolutely correct. I couldn’t find any of my photos from BT, so I had to go with Barton.

@@AndersErickson Will definitely keep an eye out for those. Cheers!
Can we talk about the elaphant on the room? She said reacharound. Jk. But I am so jealous of you two. Buffalo Trace single barrel. Has to be awesome

😂 I love this. Don’t discredit your palate. You’re a man of great taste!

My fav vid so far.. great intro! Am I the only one who notices that Az gets flushed when she drinks? Lol 😆 great stuff! Keep it up!
en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alcohol_flush_reaction 🤷🏻♀️
I'd have to win the lottery to afford buying a full barrel of bourbon or whisky
I’m glad the talking over the music thing didn’t catch on…
He went full Zack Snyder on the over-gratuitous slo-Mo
WHHHAAAAAAT!?!?!?! YOU'RE ALL WRONG! 1! 2! 3!
It helps to drink it out of a glass 😂
@@AndersErickson I actually did :(
