The great thing about Mario RPGs is that they're not just RPGs with Mario in it. They're Mario games, but with an RPG twist! The games are all so unique, it's almost like you aren't playing a turn based, story driven RPG at all! I truly wish Nintendo would get their act together and make a new Mario RPG for the ages, without ruining what made them so special. A man can dream.....
Its not a normal rpg, cuz unlike other games like pokemon, skill is intended, while in other games, u choose a move and u dont have to do anything

It's cool that basically Bros Attacks went from complex button combos to some of the most flashiest of attacks that I've seen in RPGs.
Superstar saga: athletic and quick to the point.
Partners in tine: consumable goodies, the later ones are awesome.
Bowser inside story: starting to be over the top.
Dream team bros: The luiginoids attacks are over the top and always nice to use even when you have all of them.
Paper jam bros: Over the top from the start. But it's a shame that some regular bros attacks are recycled straight from the 4th game.

The copy flower and the magical door were the most overpowered things in the universe. Used properly they could take out bosses easily within 1 hit or 2 hits

More turn based RPG need to implement something like this, minigames/QtE for the actual moves that are used, instead of just waiting. Even dodging involves the player interaction in this game, it was a lot of fun.

Yes, the Bros moves have gotten more interesting but I think they got too spectacular. You always feel that you have a great advantage over the enemies from the first one to the final boss. In dream team you can make Luigi gigantic and just absolutely clobber the enemies. In the first game the Bros moves felt like a tag team move with some flair and needed extreme perfect timing if you wanted to get good damage. In the new games you aren't rewarded for doing really good on a Bros move by getting good damage and an amazing spectacle since you already get that when you execute the move normally.

@@nicoleperreault1734 I wouldn't consider the Koopalings a Major boss. If they had incorporated a boss rush atleast include Cackletta, Fawful, Popple & Rookie, the Koopalings, and Wiggler. And they should make every boss rush post-game, I never really enjoyed how you could just challenge the bosses you just fought in BiS, it removed their sentimental value as an opponent.
@@vr8652 I'd say make dragahoot or whatever it's called a boss in a boss rush same with queen bean and the joke's end duo bosses (actually those two were nightmarish screw them) (also there are seven koopalings I don't think they'd fit the BiS style boss rush)

Supersaga Bro Moves were always my favorite, it just makes a lot more sense to COME UP with the attack, rather than just get some attack pieces and you're set. I liks even more how there are advanced bros attacks, ones that become available once you use it enough.

I wish more games had this sorta thing in rpgs- an input system where you'd button mash or qte your way to victory, like this or Legend of Dragoons. It made you feel like you were literally there and part of the game itself ^^!!!

Why is fire the most consistent attacks? I guess Mario and Luigi like to burn people.
DarkPit Stars Probably because the Fire flower is an iconic power up from the Mario series alongside the mushroom, which they can't really use much for attacks as they're the healing item.

i really wish more games did things like this. Like Legend of the Dragoon for example, making the player input in the middle of attacks. It gave a unique sense of interactiveness you don't get in any turn-based rpgs ^^!
The bro items in PiT weren't that bad
They were good, but repetitive. The first 4 were just pairs with minor property changes, the 5th one was cool, but eh because it didn't always give an item. Picket chomps were ok. The next 3 were all based off jumping on the enemys and it got repetitive, once you got copy you didn't need the others. Mix flower was badass broken but it's only use was basically for the final fight. It would have been cool to have certain power ups earlier. I personally had a blast with them. Getting good at timing copy flowers was rewarding and satisfying. In terms.of the 5 games. I'd rank them 3rd or 4th place.

This might be nostalgia googles but the "superstar saga" attacks are the best one's, mainly because they are based on attacks/techniques learned in the overworld instead of relying on some item.
They feel more like the Mario brothers are working together.
The Zee Egg is probably the best one out of all of them. If the battle was realistic, it'd definitely leave a crater.

i really enjoy these mario & luigi series but to be honest im more fond to the tandem moves because was funny to see mario or luigi reaction when you miss, but bros items also are pretty awesome (fav ones are copy flower, food basket) always made my bros build with attack /moustache build (10 : 10 ratio) and when you do a tandem / bros item move getting those lucky hits with multi hits specials was totally awesome (specially bowser special minion moves)
I've played all the games. It brings back memories. But my favorite out of all of them is Dream Team!

A "friend" broke my NDS where I played my Superstarsaga. Some days ago I got some childhood flashbacks and without hesitate, I bought a NDS lite to start this journey again. I'll play for the very first time the Partners in Time and Inside Bowser but damn, I love so much Superstar Saga and its awesome battle music!

I feel like the Pocket Chomps reference that the Chain Chomp was Baby Mario and Baby Luigi’s special item in Mario Kart Double Dash!!.
They even ride in a buggy that kind of resembles the Goo Goo Buggy!

Forced motion controls in dream team kinda sucked, but there were some real good ones, like the Luiginary attacks, giant attacks, and the Zee Egg.

It's called *Bros* attacks for a reason.
Seeing these bros' attacks made me realized that this also strongers my claim that Mario does care for his brother, their cooperation to each other is actually impressive that they even knew what other is thinking, didn't ask what to do next, like a dance - one will lead and other will follow as both flow along the music.
Anyways, since my 3ds is broken that I don't have chance to play Dream Team, Paper Jam, or the remake of Superstar Saga, so in my own experience, my favorite attacks are all Superstar Saga's bros' attacks (the failed sprites, teamwork, and blah blah~), "Falling Star" (the sounds falling on enemy's head are pretty funny and the damages it dealt once doing it perfectly) and "Snack Basket" (that's one of moments to see Mario is really strong, Luigi even knew his brother is strong that he wouldn't squished to death, and it is the memento of brotherly love). And my favorite Bowser's minion's attack is Broggy Bonker).
But in visuals, my favorites are "Zee Egg" (It's awesome like it's so anime-ish), "Star Rocket" (Those damages dealed to the enemy satisfied me like a lot), every Luiginary attacks (same reason with SS attacks), all Giant Luigi's skills (I mean, does even "Rhythm Mushroom" considered as attack? Anyways, similar to "Snack Basket" reason, mostly shows relationship between the brothers), "Toad Trail" (reminds me of Rainbow Road), "Drill Shell" (like "Zet Egg"), "Mega Mushroom" (Aw, Luigi is being cinnamon like giving a thumbs up), "Trio Shuriken" (patience is needed).
I hope that Nintendo even considered Mario's fire ability and Luigi's thunder/lightning ability in other games besides Superstar Saga, and it should also have different fighting style besides gathering fire before sending it off or throwing themself to give a huge shock. I was thinking like :
"Fire Meteor"
-Luigi will boost Mario to get to the narrow parallel walls, and Mario wall kicks with correct timing to get to the higher level platform, jumps off with fiery flames around like a meteor, and must exactly hit at the enemy with precise accuracy.
"Thunder Arrow"
-Like "Spinning Bros Attack", Mario will spin Luigi with enough speed, but first, they will be in far distance from the enemy, spins Luigi before he throws him as Luigi has electricity surrounding him as the speed gets quicker as it is harder to control to hit the enemy.
Advance/Mix
"Fire Arrow"
-It is advance "Thunder Arrow". Mario will leave his harmless fire trail so Luigi can gather it, but there is harmful fire ones (darker red), and must look carefully of the color, and there will cinematic of showing an arrow hits the enemy.
"Lightning Meteor"
-It is advance "Fire Meteor". As Mario wall kicking, Luigi will join as the "middle wall" as they both stomped their feet to each other after kicking the wall, and Luigi sends off his electricity to his brother, getting quicker than before and must timed it correctly. Of course, there will be cinematic of a meteor hits the enemy.
Yeah, I know it's bad, but I'm just so disappointed that they didn't consider their abilities on future games. I guess I'll just cross my fingers.

Don't diss traditional RPGs. Some of us learn to love both.
Eh.. Pokémon could stick with turn-based and go with action inputs on the moves, sure...
But what *_I_* want is full 3D action like they do in the anime. Dodging, interception, non-move based tactics like jumping and flying, all that.
And with an innovated system of battle, when you can use action commands to attack, and you can DODGE the attacks of the enemy, also, you have two playable characters that you can use to make stronger attacks using some SP and Team work
You know, I kinda liked the idea of Luigi being a Lightning Element...
