Instant Kills in GGX2 were pretty incredible back in the day, but you can clearly notice the age on the characters - the older they are, the less animation they tend to have.
Interestingly enough, GGX2#R was the last Guilty Gear to feature blood splashes on weapon-based hits, and as a consequence, Baiken's IK actually left the slide door spattered with red bloodstains. Afterwards, A.B.A.'s Install and Super Install were the only ones featuring blood effects for later entries of GGX2, as blood was dripping to the floor while she was in that state (and more blood dripping when attacking).
Feels like aside from Mortal Kombat, almost all the mainstream fighting games don't have blood anymore, or have otherwise been toned down in terms of more "realistic" violence. Street Fighter II used to have characters vomit when they got hit, or with Vega they'd bleed when they got hit by the claw. SNK fighting games had blood too, with the clearest example being Samurai Shodown.

When it comes to anime fighters, the Guilty Gear series is probably my favorite.
For specific characters, Baiken, Robo-Ky, and Johnny.
You missed Kliff, Justice, EX Order Sol and EX Faust.

EX Order Sol was different. It was a normal IK.
They didn't have them unlocked and it would literally take forever to unlock them all.
Keep in mind that they were streaming, and it was literally near the end of their stream. Time constraints + not wanting to bore the stream chat with hours of failing missions over and over = no-go on an unlock attempt.
Since it's unlikely they'll go back, I'll just go ahead and say the only somewhat exciting ones they missed were Justice's and EX Order-Sol's. GGXX's IKs aren't that impressive except for a select few, as you may have noticed in the video.
Order Sol can also do Sol's Guilty Gear 1 instant kill in his ex form iirc. It's all guns blazing and its pretty neat.

I'm still watching the video, but I just reached Dizzy's instant kill and I think there's something to a video series about moves with ridiculous inputs. This Rate the Supers type series might cover it though if you're willing to really dig through early ones. SNK games alone are silly, but inputs from MK clones like Eternal Champions are also real dumb too.

I think making fighting games more accessible to newer players was a step in the right direction, honestly. Autocombos may be prevalent at the beginning of the game, but they don’t affect anything after you reach a somewhat average level because custom combos are always going to be better. DBFZ, from what I’ve seen, has pros maybe using 1 or 2 hits of an auto combo just to extend ridiculous and long custom combos that people have come up with, but in most cases it’s just not used.
Cant get ppl to play FGs without them lowering the amount of time it takes for a player to feel "confident" in their ability to control the character. All that freaking out over Xrd, and you gotta hunt on discords long af to find ppl who play literally 14 characters on Xrd's roster. BBTag/DBFZ/DOA/Soul Calibur...these are gonna be the standards it seems. Depth, without being overwhelming. Even KOF is experimenting with accessibility ideas for KOF15 via SNK Heroines, cause ppl still think KOF14 is "too hard".

For somebody who played Skullgirls and a little Blazblue and really enjoyed them (with their not impossible controls if you practiced a little bit), Guilty Gear Xrd was a god damn nightmare and I barely started the story before I stopped playing because of how damn hard it was for me to use what people described as the easiest characters on an xbox controller. Maybe if I had a fightstick, itmay have been easier but I’m not that hardcore into fighting games.
Addam Hall if you were using a 360 pad, youll make playing most fighting games that much more challenging execution wise.

No, Dizzy has an Instant Kill, it's just INSANELY HARD TO DO, LIKE ORDER-SOL.

Note: Order-Sol has TWO Instant Kills, one for normal version, one for EX. (His EX is very easy to do, but the normal one is a full chain that all inputs must be completed in order to get the IK. Hint: Gold Order-Sol can do it without any additional inputs after the initial command, but it will only Instant Kill if the ensuing combo drops the opponent to 1 health.)

potemkin's insta kill is probably the most viable, as it can hit, with his whole body as the hit box, has super armor, and counters

Ever since Max announced that they'd be trying this, "Super Robot Taisen" was the first thing that came to mind that I wanted them to try out and judge. If you want amazing looking sprite-based action sequences, it'd definitely one of the best series for it.
But really, it might be too unreasonable to do so, for this new segment anyway. Getting the footage themselves would be impractical and just ripping footage online to record over will probably lead to quality issues. Not to mention I am somewhat skeptical that they'd just end up finding it all to be too "anime" and wouldn't be able to get into it, which has been an issue a couple times before.

Oh thought you going down the road of the parody fighting game Super Cosplay Wars Ultra:Infinity (SCW) were each character is a different series in a spoofy ass way haha. One character transforms into different Naruto people while another turns into old school Power Rangers with each attack, Getter Robo, old school horror(Jason/Freddy/Leather Face) etc. I always played the Power Ranger character and the Saint Seiya ones most. It has th SNK idea for bosses...crazy hard and no death to beat to get extra boss and beat the extra boss to get the true final extra extra boss thats a super buff doraemon

“Guilty gear: missing link” is the first guilty gear and it’s finally on PSN
RasenRendan X it’s literally the first guilty gear before the X series. Its a ps1 guilty gear game that started it all. Plus this has Faust before he a bag on his head. With justice as the boss. Testament and baiken were secret characters. Keep in mind that this is an old ps1 game from 1998. Everything will look weird and broken

Er Gastolo wait it was censored? I think the problem was that ASW didn't know at the time how to port a PAL version: the victory lines were cut, the conversations with Testament were cut, sadly that awesome justice intro was cut and for some reason the endings remained but the speed of the texts didn't match up with the songs. I hope that the re-release uses the NTSC version in the PAL regions and this time correct that Justice is a "she" not a "he".

the only good thing about sol dragon install v2 is that it never runs out. Its like having Gold sol but not as OP xD
I tried the first Guilty Gear out today and it had better instant kills than this. Guilty Gear X did get a GBA port that is not amazing but for a GBA game it's pretty good.
Joshua zzz Original GG's IKs were debatable; Sol's and Ky's were better, Potemkin's was severely lacking and most others were left unchanged. As for the GBA port, it would be perfect if it weren't for the pushover AI and garbage sound design. It's fun on link play.

This video underlines the quintessential problem with modern fighting game fans. They want everything to be super flashy, drawn out an cinematic.
Is that an objective issue? From what I see, it's more of just how games have evolved over the years. Guilty Gear by nature is a ludicrously flashy franchise that thrives on being over-the-top. It's less an issue and more of a preference thing. Just because you don't think the supers have to be super flashy =/= that's an issue with fighting game fans.

nowadays, most fighting games go towards cinematics that stop the action in favor of cutscenes and spectacle while removing control from the player. all this because they want to cater more to tournament viewers and platforms like Twitch/UA-cam. i personally don't see this as a positive, since it's very much proven by now that this MO doesn't contibute at all on sales and profits...

Okay, so you bring up this example, but who is saying this? You need to prove that there is many people who say this. And why do these people represent the majority of fighting game fans? Why are you saying this as a fact? There is also the fact that this is also a business. And you also never prove that this is what developers want to do and that they cater to fans. Where is your proof that this is the reason and that this refers to all fighting games? You made the claim, prove it. So you assume people who play the game don't like them? I play the games and I love them. Where is this objectively bad? It doesn't matter if the MO doesn't contribute to sales (you haven't proven your claim btw),. This is about presentation. It's simply aesthetics. Not every single thing in a game needs to contribute to sales or profits. Somethings can be put into the game just because developers want something more than just the basics. I see this as a positive as it shows the developers actually care about making their product look great. Guilty Gear and Blazblue are examples of this. Fun games with very nice visuals due to their flashy nature. You can't just say "this standard is bad because x, y and z" without actual evidence and expect people to just listen and believe. You are making an authoritative claim with no evidence and you proceed to flaunt your subjective opinion as fact and assume that the opposing mindset is objectively an issue without legitimate and sufficient evidence.
