Wounded Skin Protection by Barbara Desclaux, Textile Design

Eczema is a chronic disease that ranges from dry skin that scratches to the point where symptoms will poison the patients’ daily lives.
In the case of a defective barrier like eczema, the skin is cracking and the water oozes out. First it leads to dehydration, then the skin is an open door for external particles that quickly become allergens for the body.
Scratching is the most destroying part.
•That is why I propose a protective textile
-that protects from the outside
-that helps to not scratch. If scratching, it will have a lower impact on the skin because the patient can scratch on the protection.
-that helps skin recovery thanks to a specific material, favoring a perfect microcosm between the skin and the textile.
•Above all, the underclothes section helps to accept the disease with aesthetic pieces. It sheds light on the disease as if to say ‘no worries, it is under control !’. At least, it hides the wounded skin from public gaze.
In France and in the United States, 20% of children and 10% of adults are suffering from it. There is an urge for every patient to find relief!
