This is a criminally under-rated video. Thank you for taking the time to make this! It's a very thorough "behind the scenes" look at things. Very interesting how different versions of the guns get used for different scenarios, especially, or the unique holster for the Lemat. Love the details on the trips to Mexico or the Hoover Dam. It would be awesome to see a simulated "day in the life of" for an armorer, to understand the safety aspects of how the plastic vs rubber vs blank firing guns are separated - kind of a look at the mistakes made on the set of Rust but without actually referencing rust, either, just showing everyone how it is *supposed* to be done.
Frankly I wish that particular gun smith stuck with this project and went further with it. Like I can imagine if he could refine some of the features and cut down the process of reloading and all that. This modern Lemat production would be a hit. I mean common look at it. Its so cool.
What a cool video! That Lemat conversion is a marvel of custom gunsmithing! I have wanted a Lemat myself but Pietta has discontinued them I believe and they were very expensive.
Great video, I appreciate you taking the time to show us this! I always loved the leMat and to think of a modern cartridge conversion of it makes me geek over it hahahaha!
Thanks for this! I've wondered about how this gun was converted (or if it was all fake) since I first saw that loading episode because I knew the official LeMat cartridge revolvers look nothing like that. I didn't think a TV show, even for HBO, would have sprung to customize a LeMat to that degree so how cool that the work had already been done. Such an amazing and clever work of gun-smithing, I wonder what they were originally made for? Those rubber front pieces are also great and an excellent solution to the loading scene and other use cases. Thanks again for this, it's exactly what I was hopping for!
Wow, I figured there was some fakery going on with that reload scene, but I wouldn't have guessed that the unscrewable shotgun barrel was part of a real conversion! That's really cool
Very interesting. Has anyone ever done a close look at th converted Le Mat used in the old TV series, 'Johnny Ringo"? That was also an original Le Mat, converted to a break-top, I believe.
Massive fan of the show. I'm in the process of having a complete Westworld sleeve tattoo done on my left arm (currently 13 hours in) and one of the focal points on my inner forearm is going to be MiB's LeMat so this video is absolutely fascinating to me! I was toying with the idea of having the word "Timshel" engraved somewhere on the gun in the piece in keeping with MiB's story (mostly from Season 2). Could you please tell me what would be the most period correct font/position of having something engraved on the gun? Many thanks for these videos!
Thanks for reaching out! Well, many times people would engrave on the backstrap, the strip of metal between the grip pieces on the back of the handle. Along the barrel would work too- and may work better for your tattoo visually. You could google some old civil war engraved guns, or antique presentation guns to see some fonts. Just in case your'e interested, I am currently auctioning a "Westworld" screen used Lemat revolver on gun broker. A man who has the tattoo should own the real thing, haha! www.gunbroker.com/item/1024605919
Appreciate that! It's a 50's Benruss 3 star 17 jewel self winder, which I put a vintage NOS military band on. This site had lots of old new bands... www.watchdoc.com/collections/shop-military-bands
The two worse percussion revolvers I ever owned was also the two most expensive. The Le Mat and the Starr DA revolvers I ended up selling them. I own 14 percussion revolvers 5 SAA Uberti's 2 cartridge conversions and 1 open top I like these Colt clones.
Une version pour l'airsoft serait super cool. 9 coups + 1 décharge de billes pour imiter la chevrotine. Elle serait tres chère comme réplique mais elle en vaudrait le coup.
Is it frustrating to see what they did to Westworld? The first season was simply some of the best TV I've ever seen, then of course they had to put a chick in it and make her lame and gay and send the show to an early grave.
Someone tell Ian at Forgotten weapons about this!
That would be a great cross-over episode, for sure.

Thanks for the comment, I will try and keep putting out stuff, and cover some of your ideas when possible!

yea I had to buy my last one on gun broker, around $1,200 maybe? Pretty cool piece though.
Glad to see all the versions that make up what we see on screen.
Yea man!
That Vaquero-Lemat is quite the Franken-gun.
Isn't it?? Wild.
I need one lol
Marvelous piece of engineering, both the original and the conversion.

Thanks! Yea the Lemat is so cool.
Thank you for posting this! Really enjoyed it.

Very cool content I love movie behind the scenes and firearms history so this is right up my alley
Thanks!

Just discovering your channel, Joey! Love firearms but also watches, can I ask what you’re wearing at 6:45?

Thanks! Very interesting! 😎
You have the single coolest profession in the world probably
haha, well, it can be a lot of work and stress but often is is pretty neat. Trying to do my best, and thankful for what I have been given!
We need more in-depth videos about blank-firing firearms in Hollywood movies.
Appreciate that. I will try to keep putting some out!
Awesome.

Yea the star is finicky, and the Lemat is tough to cock!

Shout out to David Carico.
yea man
Neat info
These revolvers were made in my hometown? Wow!! 😃
Well, "converted" in your hometown anyways, haha! I've visited
Spokane before. Enjoyed it.
@@FilmArmorerJoeyDillon I am really pleased to hear that!
