Using population and government is just simply an excuse for Ghana. The total population of Jamaica is 2.961 million (2020) as compared to Ghana population which is 31.07 million (2020). But still hear Jamaica songs everywhere. Their genre have influenced music around the world. To be honest, right now the only good thing from Nigeria is the entertainment industry. Do you know why? Because the Nigerian government is not involved. Make good music and people will listen irrespective of where the music is from.

Di- Black gave very silly excuses. Nigerian govt supportive of Nigerian music???? Very funny indeed. Where did he get that from? 90% play of local Jams. How? Probably in his dreams. Sometimes it looks like Nigerians don't want to play songs from elsewhere. Fact, we simply have too many songs being released weekly, and most very good and all jostling for airplay. The ones you hear are the top ones. Most don't even make it out. The Nigerian govt is as useless as most govts in Africa. They are actually killer's of dreams. Individuals and private outfits are pushing Nigeria entertainment not the govt. What you see happening in music is replicated in the movies and comedy. That hard work and success therein have rewards in the form of patronage across the world. Big companies are buying into the industry in the form of heavy sponsorship and it trickles down. Our people are hustling and creating top content's. That's why they are winning. And they are never satisfied. The DJ is very apt in his description of things. Music is business, treat it as one. Ghanaians should stop limiting themselves. Create a music identity, a Ghana sound. What happened to hip life? Trust me most Nigerian musicians work so hard, and are consistent to be able to remain relevant and on top. Your musicians release a song and wait for months?? They must put in the work. And stop using population as an excuse. Jamaica is an example of a tiny country like yours. They're exporting their sound and dominating with their brand of music. We use to be down too until we made serious changes. Interesting discussing anyway.

Even South Africa promote real Southie culture so they are second to Nigeria. Ghanaians do music and use fake Nigeria accent/slang/pidgin and fake Jamaica patois. When these guys say “foreign”, they are most certainly referring to Nigeria. But to them, American and European cultural influences in Ghana are not as foreign.
This level of Ghanaian obsession with Nigeria and their negative competitive mentality is diabolical!
I hope the young Nigerian artistes, who think pan-African, who think that they are African first and so, gallivant all over the place in Accra, realize that Ghanaians don’t think the same way. Xenophobia against Nigeria is brewing in Ghana. So, those out there better watch out . Ghanaians are choked by their delusions of grandeur or poshness, pretensions, and a laughable sense of sophistication. Nigerians on the other hand are real, authentic, and down to earth. This reflects in our entertainment industry in general.
The level of protectionism the Ghanaians are advocating for will hurt their entertainment industry and their economy in general. If we all go back to our “tents” and it becomes each man for himself, Ghana will lose, because we are more in number, we have the money comparatively speaking, and our music is already all over the place .
It’s a shame that our West African neighbor( in terms of English language) is this petty and envious.

Ghanians should be a shame of themselves for their small mindedness, we have all been consuming Western/Jamaican music in African forever and for once we have been able to now Africanize the music we consume at the expense of western music and it should be a thing of joy for all of us in Africa instead of this cry over the dominance of Afro music by Nigeria Musicians. USA dominates Music/movie industry in the World, have you ever heard Canada their next door neighbor complain of American dominance, what about the UK a country that colonized the United States at a time, they too are dominated by the Americans musically but no one complain like some Africans ,especially you Ghanians and I think it is a shame. Music is not politics, if you have the talent , your music will rule all waves, don't expect somebody else to lift you up.

My dear Ghanian brothers, sisters and Africans in diaspora, let me make this simple for you all as a Nigerian and a fellow African. There was an awakening that started in the late 2000 about the world becoming a global stage for all to feature, which gave birth to the current globalization of the African music experience that we are experiencing right now in Africa and the world at large, which everyone is now scrambling for a fair share of this movement and the benefit that comes with it.
What we did as Nigerians is that we looked into our culture, our way of life and our story telling ability which is embedded in our Africanisms knowing fully that we cannot be like anyone else on the global stage of music but ourselves as Africans. So, we took advantage of our sounds and started experimenting with new tech in music fusions and WE EVOLVED and made progress with the understanding of what type of sound the world at large wants hear, listen and enjoy when it comes to African music. So, what we’ve done with the Nigerian Music is called differentiation.
This understanding is what has paved this pathway for us and it came with a lot of hard work, Sacrifice and orderly thinking that has birth new ground breaking sounds that bridge cultures on a global scale. Simple!
We are still working hard at it; we’re not going to stop but continue to make progress with new learnings, because we’ve learnt a lot along the way. So, there’s still more to do and learn from. PLEASE START YOUR JOURNEY AND STOP THE CRITICISMS. Stop feeling entitled and drowning yourselves in self-pity but look inward for every resource available to you and start refining, defining and put in the work progress awaits you on this journey. We move…..

Sir, please there's nothing like that 90/10% thing you spoke about in nigeria. Theres never been. Nigerian bars play Nigerian songs because it's just nice and the sings are good. There's never been a law. People just enjoy what they enjoy.
Also, the Nigerian government has never cared about the music industry. All the successes you see in the Nigerian music industry is individual driven (just like NOLLYWOOD. it's all personal effort . No laws or legislatures backing them).

I think these guys are being paid for this argument because the never get tired of this debate everyday.
One amazing thing about all these hate is that, the more they hate the more the Nigerians fly higher because the Nigerians does not even have time to respond to them, they are busy in the studio making the next hit song.
Just imagine the energy they spent analyzing how Nigerian music populate the internet, put those energy in your music and you will go far brother.

Ghanaians musicians do not incorporate melodies and good and relatable lyrics in their songs..All you hear is papapapapa..wtf is that???
Their choruses are terrible.. The majority of Ghanaian musicians sound like they have no business doing music.. But the good news is that there are some young artists that are coming up like Gyakie, Amarae, and King Promise.. Unfortunately, Ghanaians do not rate these artists and prefer to continue to support the old guard who churns out nonsense music that can not cross the border..
