A tale of the east end and growing up in earlier times making the transition to adult hood with all that goes with it.the teacher doing a better than good job
Yes, To Sir with Love sung by LuLu is such a tear-jerker. She sings the song beautifully. It is sung as a tribute to him because he showed them how to be young adults, respectable and responsible. He cared, was patient, yet firm as a teacher. They began not liking him as he represented authority and they were against that. Later, he dramatically changed their impressions of him as he took the time to teach them. So dedicated in his new role as a teacher, Sir decides to stay on as a regular teacher for the following year. In the final scene you see him ripping up the engineer job offer mailed him as he was, by trade a skilled engineer. He knew he was needed there rather than an engineering company. Nice reaction video. Thanks
I saw this movie when it first came out in 1967. I was 17. Loved, loved, loved it..as did every kid my age at the time. I’ve seen it a bazillion times and the song is one of my all time favorites.
To Sir, with Love is a 1967 British drama film that deals with social and racial issues in an inner city school. It stars Sidney Poitier and features Christian Roberts, Judy Geeson, Suzy Kendall, Patricia Routledge and singer Lulu making her film debut. James Clavell directed from his own screenplay, which was based on E. R. Braithwaite's 1959 autobiographical novel of the same name. The film's title song "To Sir with Love", sung by Lulu, peaked at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the United States for five weeks in the autumn of 1967 and ultimately was the best-selling single in the United States of that year. The movie ranked number 27 on Entertainment Weekly's list of the 50 Best High School Movies.[4] A made-for-television sequel, To Sir, with Love II (1996), was released nearly three decades later, with Poitier reprising his starring role.ua-cam.com/video/_BqWyGft4OI/v-deo.html
Its not about the song! It's about acceptance and genuine appreciation regardless the persons race or skin colour! Every Brit has been shown this film in school for "Educational purposes" Every Brit is touched by this song!

The teacher wins over the students with his compassion and charm and they all end up respecting him greatly.
