Thanks for sharing! I've been struggling with ricoh recipes for a few days, and this is just what I needed. While I love many recipes on the app, most of them were very situational and specific WB (mainly daylight), and me living in the north where it is grey most of the year and being more of a night person, they didn't really work for me as the standard all-in-one recipe.
Hey Brian, yes, I've had similar experiences with the recipes on the app. That was one of the reasons I wanted to create a more versatile recipe. Hopefully i'll be able to make some more in the future.
Yes, I have been finding this as well. Though, it is worth remembering, film is also WB specific - in the old days photographers would use filters or gels in extreme WB differences, though I admit good rolls that I've used were able to tolerate a change of WB better than digital can. BTW, some of the recipes in that app do come with auto white balance, which is a good base to start from.
Luke, this one is lovely in all the light conditions you showed. Definitely going to load this one, although I might tweak the colour balance to give the sky blue a little more to the teal side. Many thanks!

I tried it today while snowshoeing, it was snowing HARD which usually makes the light flat and pictures quite uninspiring but the images with this recipe came out lovely!
Yes, I think you've done a good job here, and this is fairly close to the portra 400 shots i've got scanned on my hard drive. Thank you for making this free, I'm going to put it in and use it as a base. The magic is in the auto WB, which a lot of recipes don't use.

I really love your recipe, especially how versatile it is in allmost all conditions. I've tried out many recipes from the ricoh recipes site but couldn't find the right one for me. I liked natural negative and warm negative the most though now yours will replace those two. I'm not sure if you know it but ricoh is planning to soon release the new film simulation ''Negative Film''. It will be first indruduced with their new limited special edition of the GR3 named ''GR III Diary Edition'' and the new film simulation will be later available via a firmware update for all the other new models of the GR as well. This will open up even more recipe options for the GRs. I hope you will create some more recepes in the future, because I think you are really good at it. I didn't take many pictures with my GR3 recently and switched more often to my fuji camera because I liked the colors more from fuji. But I tried that simulation of your's today and I don't know when I last took that many pictures with my GR3. Maybe I use it now more often.
I'm glad you enjoyed it. I've had similar experience with a lot of the Ricoh recipes in the app. Many of them look good in particular lighting conditions but not in others. I did hear about the new simulation being released with the Diary Edition. I don't think I would buy the Diary Edition (not my style) but I'm excited Ricoh is releasing a new simulation. I'm definitely going to give it a try when the firmware update gets released. I'm going to try to make some more recipes in the future. I've been using my Sony a lot lately, but i'm always pleasantly surprised with how much I love the Ricoh each time i pick it up.
Love your video. Please make more. Can you make video about mimicking Fuji’s default recipes? Like classic chrome, classic neg. I’ve made up my mind not buying X100V, but GR3X to use along with my GR3.
I’ve never attempted to mimic the Fuji recipes but I can give it a try. I thought about getting the x100v but the prices are insane and they are always backordered.
no favorites :(, this looks... garbage :(( ... colors, contrast, no sharpness, all ugly... ricoh gr III very interesting and great device... but developers just cant like fuji... :(

@@LukeTaylorPhotography my solution for this was getting a x-t30 ii cuz I only cared about a smaller fuji with newer recipes.
