Yak and chauries pastoral herding, a traditional occupation of Sherpa communities in the high Himalayas, is under threat. Challenges like foreign migration, low returns, and lack of institutional support have pushed this centuries-old practice to the edge of extinction, endangering both livelihoods and cultural heritage.
